im also interested to see how it stands up to general road shit and more importantly, cleaning afterwards as its still a daily afterall.

bth if the matt look grows on me i will either get it painted or maby look at a cf option.

How has the plastidip lasted on the front lip?

Well for now im still in refurbish mode so lots of little jobs and simple things.
i have an ever growing list which im slowly plugging away at.

Im going to the adelaide hills next week to see Josh @ Forge performance who i met on a cruse a while ago, we got talking about a few things.
but for now were just redoing the 100,000k service which was done on the car prior to me buying. The idler pulley is noisy due to, i assume, being over tightened. i have already done all the other belts and hoses ect so only need to do timing belt, water pumps pulleys ect.
maby even the diff bushes and the likes if we find time.

I still need to have my throttle bodies adjusted properly as i have a 1200rpm idle and no more adjustment left on the idle control valve.
we were supposed to address this when we did the heater hoses but somehow the boys at paul pavlou managed to do them quickly without removing the plenum. black magic....
so im hoping the TBs have just been cleaned incorrectly and we can just use the Tomei re-sealing stuff otherwise yeah its the whole reset and adjust job which i understand i a labor intensive job and something i should not attempt myself.

I also purchased some RE01 tires which should get fitted next week as, well you saw the tires im currently on are totally gone.

Im still cleaning up the interior, tossing up between replacement mint condition gtr seats or going brides, aswell as replacing trims like c pillars and y'know all the usual suspects.

if i find time this weekend i will rewire the stereo and replace the speakers with something half decent until i feel like spending good money for something quality, but i have an amp and a little sub doing nothing.

looking forward to more interesting plans-

new swaybars, maby new coilovers.
new wheels with proper fitment, probably 18X9.5+12 ish
new turbos for more response and reliability
eventually go haltech and maby a simple e85 setup.
still no plans to chase big power numbers, maby 300 ->350atw kw on a conservative tune.

and just kinda go from there, depending on what crops up during daily life and what becomes available along the way.

i did consider trying my hand at a full car vinyl wrap in a crazy colour for funzies... might still give this ago but its just a fun thing i have always felt like doing. i know how far-removed that is from keeping a "clean stockish GTR"

I have done a bit of a search but come up empty, hopefully someone can help.

i want to mount a hydraulic jack in the boot of the gtr.
hopefully right up forward behind the backseat.
i remember seeing a mounting bracket which held the jack and bar with an easy release.

does anyone know where these can be found, or would it be a custom thing?

more maintenance.

FINALLY found time to get the timing belt redone.
it had a gates belt which ws over tightened by the previous owner which, as they do, wined and annoyed the hell out of me.

Josh at Forge performance *champ btw, do recomend* fitted a new genuine belt and all pulleys and water pump.
finaly its quiet. so quiet. love it.

we did however find that one of the locator pins had snapped off but managed to get the timing right so didn't have to remove the camshaft luckily.

one thing which we did notice was how dirty the cooling system was :/
remember i had the coolant done when i blew the heater hoses 3000km ago, there was quite a bit of shit in the pipes so we did a full flush and replaced with the propper long life spec blue coolant.
the water pump (old and warn) didnt have much of a build up nor did the block from what we could see, but all nice and clean now.

so finally managed to take her out, no noises, no problems, new tires, for a good belt in the hills. even if it was pissing down :)

i did buy a set of re01s but the tire size was too small and my speedo reading is already reading to high, i don't want a %15 speedo discrepancy so i moved them on.

for now i am using Khumo KU39s of the correct size until i get new wheels in 18"

spot of weekend drama, came out of work to a flat tire which was annoying as they're obviously brand new, assuming i had a lucky nail.
pulled it off and no nail in site we inspected the wheel and found a 1inch crack on the barrel of one of the enkies.

friend of a friend who is a wheel repairer was nice enough to come down and laid a sweet fat weld to fix her up.
unsure on where it came from as there were no other impact signs or other stress marks.
oh well.

haha, yeah i will be redoing the pipework soon anyway, need to pull it apart soon to do the split intake modification and remove the plenum for repainting and TB reset. will address it then.

.................... asshole

seems i spoke too soon :P

ok this time it looks like i will have to remove the plenum and do it properly.
i dont know how many hoses are under there but i have replaced quite a few now. going to replace all of them.
f**king heater box better not join this little leak party.

on the plus side we can repaint my plenum :)

    • Ok guys thank you very much. GCG highflow it is then 🙂
    • forgot to mention that when it does this it does not kill the engine, but I have not kept the pedal down long enough to let it, as I see no reason to beat up on it as its got to be something simple, small and dumb causing this.  And as soon as I let off pedal, the engine returns to its normal super smooth operation and rpms re-stabilize quickly, once below 4k.
    • neither stumble or cut really seem to be an appropriate term....hard to explain its like a rev limiter but at 4k, but it violently shakes engine and entire vehicle as the rpms will not rise over 4k, even with slow acceleration. as soon as it hits 4k, it sounds like entire spark is lost entirely. plugs were 1.1 which I used as such, but later put in new plugs gapped down to .8 changed back after issue arose when I replaced the coils, still does it with either plug gap...damn and it was all running so good.
    • Oh how times have changed! I actually lean it out relative to my water/methanol injector duty cycle. The methanol adds a lot of fueling and you can then lean it out even more due to reduced knock.
    • Yeah my thoughts are the same, a well thought out WMI setup, would be slightly ahead of just straight E85 and you're also chemically intercooling the charged air, dropping it even further. This is why you need to add so much more fuel as soon as you spray. I remember someone taking me through their set up before (Dennis, has a R33, lives around Cabramatta - no idea if he's still around on this forum). He would target AFR 10:1 on 98, then as WMI ramped on, AFR would lean back up to 11:1. Amazingly, he did this all through his PowerFC, a relay to cut power to his EBC solenoid if there was not enough line pressure on his WMI kit. And of course, if there wasn't any boost made above gate pressure, you wouldn't be accessing the load cells with heaps of timing for WMI. One downside to that rudimentary setup, once the WMI came on, the EBC would unleash the dragon, and of course all the timing. Tyres would fry lol.
