Damn, should have put my name down earlier.

Let me know if any spots become available.

Hi Mate,

As a back up plan you can always do Nth Circiut with us -

http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/457132-18th-october-smsp-north-circuit-interclub-track-day-limited-offer/

So far 6 or 7 of the guys from this track day are in!

Just out of curiosity and cause I've never been to a track day before. What does everyone bring?

in my case, a tow truck.

but srsly, a seat, bottles of water, some food, any spares or tools you think you may need.

And of course, helmet, and suitable clothes.

Hey guys I know a lot of you are not new to track days and will know what I'm talking about but for the newbies I will be outlining what will be expected when you come see myself and others in the scrutineering shed

First things first empty your car of all loose objects, don't want to have things rolling around in the car

This will include the drivers floor mat for worst case scenario of it catching on the pedals.

While we are inside we will check your seat belts for condition, standard belts are fine no need to splash out for a harness but each to their own

Fire extinguisher is next which will need to be securely mounted WITHIN REACH of the driver, which means if you cant reach it while seated it needs to be moved.

Also make sure your fire extinguisher is within the green band on the gauge for obvious reasons

There are guides floating around the forum of where and how to mount in skylines

Next up is checking for any leaks present on your vehicle

This is pretty self explanatory, make sure there is no oil, water, power steering etc leaks present otherwise no tracks for you

At the same time we will be checking other components within the engine bay to make sure everything is in a roadworthy condition and doesn't present a hazard

Battery will be checked next for security so it won't move under super late braking and super crazy g forces

Factory restraint is fine for this

That basically covers the car now we move onto YOU!!

We check that you are wearing clothes that cover you from ankle to wrist so long pants long sleeve shirt closed shoes (sorry mateetee no hot pants and heels)

At scrutineering we will be checking your helmet is Australian certified should have a silver and sticker AS1698 eg

59822938-4E24-41D4-A6DF-8D7811B029CD.jpg

This is minimum standard

And make sure it is in good condition no cracks etc

If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I'll try help you out

See you all on the day in the scrutineering shed!!!

    • Ok so after much research and talking with knowledgeable people I've got my turbo conversion done and it's all running great other than 1 small issue.  Car has remained auto with the na auto and tcm, I've used a stagea ecu with. NIstune board and everything is great other than my gear selection on the dash. It illuminates park, reverse, neutral, 3rd and 2nd. But nothing drive or what gear your in when you pop it into tiptronic.  I'm sure there is may e 1 wire in the ecu plug I need to move to rectify this. Dose anyone here have any ideas?   Cheers guys
    • Sorry I haven't been following all the detail, so you may have tried this. Does it idle with the tiniest bit of throttle you can add? You've mentioned the IACV, does it have an AAC valve and have you adjusted it at all (ie, screw the idle adjust screw all the way in, then back it out a couple of turns until idle is stable)?
    • My bad, I unplugged the one underlined in red instead of yellow before. With the car started, after unplugging the IACV (the one underlined in yellow), it idled at around 400/500 for 3 seconds before stalling. Attempting to start the car without the IACV will not start the car.   It does stutter and sputter for around 5 seconds before dying. However, immediately after starting it, you can already hear some slight sputters from the exhaust.   It won't start with the AFM unplugged. If it is when the car has already started, it stalls in a few seconds.   Yesterday, I did take some logs using Nistune of 3 scenarios. Car idling till it stalls Car idling and unplugging the IACV Car idling and removing the AFM I also have some previous logs of when the Car is idling till it stalls and when driving and it cuts. I am not really knowledgeable enough to understand what to look for. After every test, car idles rougher and rougher, until I have to stop. It will be fine the day after.
    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
