OK I've read the forum rules and if I don't make it then let me know and remove the thread.

I am gauging the interest in a Group Buy on under bonnet mats. I know I need one and was talking to another member and he also needed one and a few others sounded interested.

So what i want to know is the level of interest - if we can get 10 or more then it may be worth our while to go the next step.

Note that I did get a quote for EOM and it was $126USD for the mat but postage/greight was prohibitive. But I think if we had enough interest and got say 10 or more the freight might come down.

So:

1. Gauge interest and if there is enough then

2. Look for a supplier and get a quote

3. Tell everyone the cost and allow them time to back out if it is too much

4. Take deposits

5. Order

6. Post out to everyone.

Note I don't have a supplier in mind and am willing to take advice. Also will need help and advice on operating this service.

I'm just along time silent majority member who's trying to do the right thing so don't shoot!!!!

So lets start just reply by adding your user name:

Im interested in an R33 GTS-t S2 bonnet mat. Im pretty sure there is no difference between S1 and S2 because im pretty sure i used my old bonnet mat on my new S2 bonnet

A bit of semi useful information

I'm super keen for an r33 gtst one as well. I checked amayama.com and they're currently going for around $185 not including postage. oem part # if you don't already have it is 65840-15U00

yeah, I was thinking amayama, but they quoted me almost $800 for freight on one mat. But if we get a bulk order this may come down [fingers crossed]. If we had 10 and it was $800 then its $80 /mat which is looking ok IMO.

StretchGSK - not sure if your joking or not, but a carbon bonnet, not sure it would have one TBH.

tridentt150v - GTst S2, I might get two anyway, put one away for ron??

I would assume that because of the way the mat is, they would have to be shipped as they sit, which means it is taking up alot of space, so if you had bulk mats together then only the depth would change, and it wouldnt change much so the price wouldnt go up

I had someone chasing one a while ago so ill ask them if they are still interested

Not joking at all tridentt150v

The carbon bonnet also has some sort of matt, just a small one above the turbos.

Are you buying Ex-US? Ex-JPN?

You kinda need to follow the GB rules. Everyone always says "I am in" with a EOI... That's the problem with them.

Get some firm pricing.

If it is ex-JPN then Import Monster will be able to handle sea freight and reduce it to next to nothing. They always look after SAU, and I bet that $800 price is for air shipping... Ordering more won't really get the price down as the package size/weight will go up and that's what it's based on.

Ok I will talk to Import Monster and see if they can help. And yeah I said at the start that ppl can pull out if the price is too much for them. Just looking to gauge the interest atm. I should have put an EOI in front of the topic but by the time I thought of it [my grey cells aren't noted for their speed] it was too late.

But I'll keep working at it.

StretchGSK I'll ask but its a strange beast compared to what we will be getting so no promises ok. That photo will come in handy.

Price this week [i'm away for work and in the bush so might be later this week but it will be done].

Thanks all.

You are right to some extent on freight, but I also think that because its a large flat package and doesn't 'conform' to a box world there is a size penalty. But the mats also don't weigh that much and having 10 stacked on top of each other would increase the price but not by 10 times. But I guess we will suck and see that as we dive deeper.

And thanks for not killing it Nismoid

Yeah my main point is "EOI" is essentially pointless.

Seen it happen many times over the years, you get to 20 people going "yeah ill get one". Then you actually ask for money/deposits, even if the price is awesome, and still only get one person pay.

Best thing, contact Aaron and take it from there. (He only got back from O/S yesty, so he'll be under the pump this week). They have containers arriving almost once a month now IIRC, so it won't take long to get the process sorted.

Then get the pricing sorted out, do a formal purchase and then see how the numbers actually fare. Then do it structured (if pricing goes that way) with 5 / 10 / 20 people etc. That said sea shipping cost won't change a hell of a lot no matter how many, it all depends how it's packed before it's send - IM can again sort that out potentially at their packing facility in Japan if the supplier packs individually rather than a group etc. Loads of options basically

hey mate as long as the price isn't greater than $180 I am 100% committed and have the money aside already as I was actually going to purchase one from amayama but hopefully this way works out cheaper. let me know how it goes.

Yeah, Ty1 I'm also hoping the price is around that mark. But there will be freight on top of that plus postage to you. I have contacted Import Monster and talked to Aaron and once I have a price I will get back to everyone with it.

So fingers crossed it all goes OK.

Hi all I have contacted Import Monster and should have a firm price per mat soonish. This pirce will not include postage to your door.......that will be another cost and challenge.

If anyone has a parts manual and could confirm the part numbers as well as if the S1 and S2 Gtst mats are the same [same part number] that would be appreciated. Or alternatively if its avaiable publicly etc then point me in the right direction and I'll do it myself.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
