I wasnt racing for this one , but saw a few nice skylines . Also I mean CALDER

Franks white R33 GTR was absolutly flying and i think would have won the day easily posting in the 63 sec bracket .

AVO had a strong R33 gts t which sounded great and had plenty of straight line .

A black/purplish R33 GTR with black GTR rims was out but seemed to have ignition dramas later in the day .

Also a grey R33 gts t which seemed to have a constant misfire but toughed it out all day .

Its good to see these cars on the track and i know the rexie boys are always keen on watching their progress

There will be a few more joining the ranks i think Adam.

an 34GTR (once gearbox is done)

an R31GTS-R (once my motor is done)

a 32-t - im sure Roy (troy) will come with us

Maybe a 33-t , someone might have to twist Geoff arm?

probably a few more too :D Hope their keen attitude sticks around :)

....and some stickies :D

lol... who has a rubber fetish :) ...ignorance is bliss, just disconnect your oil temp gauge or be sure to get the cooler before the rubber :D

Yeh once the old battle hardened R32 has stopped its hissy fits and is back together running, ill be good for just about any track day that doesnt clash with work commitments.

FLYGTR you say an R33 GTR posted in the 63 second bracket, i take it Sandown has a short track?!?!?! as i think V8 Supercars do 71sec laps?!?!?!

oooo VIC track team now, i'm so heading out with you guys once my car is regoed. R34 GT-T, one of the reasons i bought it was so i could race it. Have the Mines R34 GTR to thank for that :D

Need to do anything to be part of Team Wang :)

The event was at Calder, I'm sure that's what he meant.

The purplish GTR is mine and had to retire after the first session.

Emre - heard you may have lost a piston. Any truth in the rumours?

FLYGTR - I'm going to join the rex club. Their track days look well orgainised. Do you go to the general meetings? I was thinking of going down this Thursday and checking it out. Apparently the Maserati Club is joining the MSCA next year so those track days could get very crowded.

I might have to defect to WRX club as well!

Andrew,

All the possibilities went through my head on the day, but it's not internal.

The car has a very erratic idle and running on 5 cylinders in in low rpm, but i have no loss of power. I am leaning towards an AFM or a dud injector in no:3 cylinder but haven't found out for sure yet.

The day was organised very well. They had 75 cars entering the track day and there were plenty of laps to be had.

dont forget the ceffy!

Well Emre I hope it all turns out to be as painless as possible for you.

Had a look at the rest of the track days for the year with the rex club - their timing is shocking. Next one is the weekend after the dutton, the one after is on Grandfinal Day (I'll be there) and the final one is the day after Derby Day on the Nov Long weekend (BIG drinking day for me).

So that sucks.

Hey guys , i meant calder my mistake .

Emre i saw you working on the car but it looked like you had your hands full so i didnt want to hassle you ( been in those shoes), .

Snowman , i am a regular at the meetings ( not this one though even though with race brakes their should be a good one) . The rex club is pretty good especially the motorsport part of it as you will find they are all like minded poeple with very few fools , thats why im still their . I usually race an ol' VL commo but have been using the RS lately . Our next event is at sandown or winton , if your keen on some more info pm me.

adam.

I also thought VicSAU was getting ready for track days ? , if you guys are stuck i can point you in the right direction to meet the cams requirements.

Adam,

You should've said hi... I had parked the car for an hour or two just to watch some action, but went back to it later in the day to eliminate a couple of possibilities.

Anyways, it turned out to be a blown inlet manifold gasket.

Jack, thanks for lending me your AFM mate.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
