Have a look at what I wrote.

I wasn't going to sit there all night finding the cheapest price around. It all comes down to what product you use. Some may want Argo rods, another guy might use HKS. I'm not going to sit there and price up 20 different combo's.

What I was trying to say was at the end of the day it's not $7000 worth of difference, even if it was, I still wouldn't use a stock throw crank.

For what it's worth, a 2.8 is still too small.

Ahh ok fair enough,

you just decided to throw in the cheapest stroker kit you could see and inflate the prices of rebuilding a standard. To throw the results. Point made.

Lol at 2.8 even being to small.

Apparently street use means nothing. ONLY TRACK!

Lets get onto the non mentioned side of things... Wear and tear...

technically the Stroker kits won't last as long as a standard 2.6......plus the additional wear on other components.

in saying that #gtrlife they will destroy themselves anyway.

By the time you get that little bit more wear on the thrust side of a bore from extra stroke it would have either already blown up or require something else done anyway.

The argument of stroker wear is invalid in my opinion

Anfanee. What's wrong with the Tomei kit? It's been in my car for a decade. Price up a nitto, BC, HKS. Choose whatever!

You could go and get the Tomei 2.6 full counter crank for $9k a unit?

Just saw a full 26 bottom end on eBay for $400 and a long nose crank for $90 wonder what capacity Freddy used, he did alright didn't he?

I didn't say anything was wrong with the kit at all dude. I'm sure the kit is fantastic, i'm a huge fan of tomei stuff.

Nah for that price i'd get the nitto crank for $4600 a unit lololololol

I was just commenting that there is a little more than a 1k difference, and just trying to show the other side of the story.

But i do know where you are coming from, if you include a crank, there is not a huge difference overall.

looking at my receipts from my rebuild....The difference was pretty decent. Though i didn't need a crank.

Also in saying that Nengun have the HKS step zero for under 4k... holy shit! My difference is still over 2k.

But for that price, get the HKS step zero. 100%

@ Hadouken:

Why not? Oh yeah because its a 26 rather than a thrashed out rb30 that needs a rebuild..

Nah I'm still standard 26 here and have no bias.

It's just a $400 block with probably a crack in it and a $90 crank that needs machining anyway if it is in good nick.

Yeah I know mate. I am just saying in general the contradictions that exist. Someone buys a thrashed out 30 and builds a forged 26/30 and they are legends, but someone else does the same on 26 and they are tight arses..... Makes me laugh.

engine parts are only ever as good as the workshop that screws it together.

I've seen first hand massive dollar equipment hand grenade on first run/dyno pull and on the other hand I have witnessed bone stock unopened motor's that had "claimed" to be built go on to produce over 400wkws for years.

"I BELIEVE THE MAGIC IS IN THE ASSEMBLY "

Proably shouldnt tell you i plan on building this myself then

I don't doubt the displacement argument but my engine is 2629cc at 87x73.7mm.. If I was going all out with a new N1 bock and stroker is 2738cc at 86

5x77.7mm thats 109cc difference for 7+ grand extra, you'd be nuts to take a virgin block straight to 87mm (assuming for a 2.6 refesh my crank and rods are fine, just new pistons) I would have though improving your VE% by 3 or 4 percent on the 87mm 2.6 with good head work would yeild similar results? If you're going all out, sure do both. But on an assembled 2.6 engine you'd see similar gains with just doing the head work. If I wanted solid grunt I'd be looking at over 3L for sure.

    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
