So i have been collecting parts needed to do a turbo conversion on my r34 rb25de Neo for quite some time now and am keen to go ahead with the conversion.

I have:

-R33 turbo

-R33 turbo manifold + dump

-R33 SMIC + piping

-Braided water lines/banjos

-Braided oil line/banjo + oil retun

-Boost Tee, boost gauge.

I wanna know if i can run 5psi max with the stock rb25de Neo injectors, fuel pump and N/A ecu?

It seems every conversion i have seen has been done different, the setups i have seen so far are:

1) N/A injectors, N/A ecu, walbro fuel pump. Boost at 5psi

2) 370cc injectors, Gtt ecu, N/A fuel pump. Boost at 5psi

3) 370cc injectors, Emange blue ecu, walbro fuel pump.

So can i convert my rb25de Neo to a turbo using the N/A injectors and fuel pump if i dont go over 5psi?

Seems pointless to go to all that effort, only do half the job and limit yourself to 5 psi, even if it IS possible. Why not just throw the NA injectors and ECU in the bin where they belong, install turbo injectors and a TUNABLE ECU and run 10+ psi and enjoy life?

I'm not sure that the DE Neo head is a good candidate for +T but leaving that aside why didn't you get an R34 SMIC and turbo? I'm not even sure the R33 manifold will bolt to the Neo head but could be wrong.

Do you have an auto or manual?

If you have a manual I would suggest an R34 ECU with a Nistune chip.

If you have an auto sell the car and buy a GTT.

It looks as though you haven't read many of the DIY guides on +T

Do some more reading and Googling and you may decide to just buy a GTT

All turbo manifolds will fit no issue

Go turbo injectors turbo ecu with nisstune ecu get it tuned about 800 for chip n tune then u can run 10+ psi be supper responsive as the na neo is nice n hi comp also has hi smaller ports which will help heap down low build it n have fun with it

I understand that if i wanna run 10psi+ i need to change the injectors and ecu, but what about the fuel pump? Surely that needs to be changed also right?

I might go down that road later on but for now i just wanna know if i can run 5psi with n/a injectors, fuel pump and ecu?

we all grow attached to our cars :) but by buying a gtt you get better brakes, better engine, etc.

sell your gt for a profit and buy a clean unmodified gtt and be in front. It will cost more to get your gt turbocharged.

You will be very disappointed with only low boost with no room to move.

It's not only the engine.

The lower spec brakes

The RB 20 box (IIRC)

Inside the list goes on.

Cut losses, save and buy a better car.

Buy the best car you can afford and work from there. Don't buy the worst car and make it up!

I think the main problem with achieving 5psi is that the RB25 actuator is set to achieve ~7psi minimum?

At least run an adjustable FPR and give it a bit more juice....but ideally you should get it on a dyno asap to confirm the mixtures are happy.

No, it's actually a 5 psi wastegate and the boost control solenoid bleeds it up to 7.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
