hello everyone

so here is the thing

engine fresh rebuild new rings new bearings done 600km

engine is standard

fuel system standard

afm standard

cams standard

exhaust : tomei manifolds and dumps y pipe + sard high flow cat + 3inch exhaust to the end kakimoto

turbos hks gt2530 with 19psi hks actuators

car wont make more than 330-350 Rwhp on dyno dynamics , full boost is 5k rpm maybe even more

this is not what i expected , we played with timing etc but its stuck on 330whp range and it feals quiet slow untill 6k rpm when drove it and i havnt driven more than 150hp car for past 2 years and still felt slow :)

all dyno graps i have seen are getting more horses and happy with full boost by 4k rpm

anyways some your input would be great

first thinking remove sard cat and put straight 3" cat , do i really need camshafts rght now? i am not planing to go higher boost yet just want get most out 19 psi

thx

Exhaust is choking it for one. It's way too small.

Ditch the lot and build yourself a 3.5 inch system (minimum) with decent (universal) mufflers and try again.

Cams ain't the problem unless when it was put together one of the cams are a tooth out. Seen it before on a mates car.

Rag in cooler piping? Lol

Standard fuel injectors and punp run out of flow at 270kw (360hp)

Standard air flow meters are out of range at 300kw (400hp)

Exhaust needs to be around the twin 3in into a 3.5in with no restrictors in it (most Japanese cat backs have restrictors in the mufflers) put a decent 100cpi cat in it cause the sard ones aren't much better then a factory cat

And put some cam gears in there and use them to get some good gains through the rev range

thx for reply guys

i will remove sard cat and will fit 550cc injectors and see how it goes , not sure why it so late on full boost , mafs and fuel pump should be good for that boost? should i be getting around 400rwhp on 19 psi at list?

forgot to mention egt is 900-1000c , isnt it a bit high?

thx

Why would you just replace the cat when the rest of the exhaust isn't up to the job either? a restricted exhaust will slow down response and send temps through the roof.

The fuel pump is at least 14 years old, do you really want to risk pushing its limits?

If I had 2530s and only making 300kw (400hp) I would say i chose the wrong turbos for my needs

Replace the whole system. Like Brett said above

Why waste time going from 444's to 550's?. Get a set of modern 1000's Atleast.

The reason modern 1000s are being recommended is that there is really no downside, since they respond well at low pulsewidths so idle etc are fine.

For MAFs you can tune past the 300kw limit, but in that range the ECU is guessing what the fuelling should be, so you're risking over or under fuelling. Nismo MAFs bolt in and are good for ~370awkw, which is about that the 2530s make on pump, so would be a good option.

Something is up for sure...

I made 550hp at the wheels on 23psi with a 2.5 inch to 3 inch twin front pipe and a 3 inch blitz nur spec catback. Didn't have a cat though. So exhaust size isn't your issue. Bigger is always better, but its not choking you at that power level if its a healthy flow path.

Collapsed cat?

Power fc,700+cc injectors, decent fuel pump and z32 afms should be on your shopping list for sure. Those turbos are a waste without suporting gear at the least.

you see 4psi differensce 200hp more , so thats why i am not happy at all

i do have that list for summer not earlier ;) i just cant do all that stuff right now , r35 mafs , injectors , cams , gears , clutch , pump etc is on summer shopping list not yearlier

thx everyone

just to clear things up , i refresh engine , all gaskets, seals , rings , bearings , reimax pump etc , while engine was getting done i purchsed rutbos and put them on when instaled engine back , my plan was to tune it on stock boost and drive 2-3k km ("brake in time thats how u call it ?:)"). for the summer i would buy all suport mods to push tham to the end . that is why i left stock fuel system on fresh engine , to go high power wasnt my goal .

so car is on dyno and lowest boost it takes is 19psi , didnt think it would be that high , so started tune on 19psi , no boost controller no restrictir removed etc , at the end 330-350 not remember in that range was max we couldnt take out of more no metter what i did . yeah worst part is full boost takes forever to hit !

Ecu is nistune .

all i can do right now is borrow injectors from friend and remove sard cat at all and see were it goes

got recomend to dump my hks iridium spark plags and put ngk bcpr11 ones? maybe i should swap ecu as well? power fc ? i dont know i am just very disepointed

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
