alex182
Pre-purchase vehicle inspections - recommendations? Hey guys, can anyone recommend any trustworthy workshops that can perform a used-vehicle mechanical inspection- compression testing etc. Skyline expertise much preferred! Would also be interested in anyone that can do paint depth checks to determine any accident history. Looking at BNR32s and wanting to be very thorough before purchasing as i've been watching the prices skyrocket over the past six years since I've last been on here. We all know an honest one is getting harder and harder to find Appreciate the help guys! 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470877-pre-purchase-vehicle-inspections-recommendations/ Share on other sites

JGTC
If going with a place like racepace, who have a dyno, you can request that they perform a 'check up power run' on the dyno, this will uncover more issues than a standard roadtest, this can uncover missfires, boost/vaccum leaks, noises, AFM and injector issues. Being able to hit full boost safely will give you a much better indication of the condition of the car rather than a modest test drive. Wheel alignment is also a great way to check for correct chassis geometry. for the extra $100 worth it in my opinion. Steve85
They did this sort of thing for me... after Galvsport had checked it. You can never be too cautious. JGTC
Not cheap, but relatively good value with the parts (headwork, turbos, VCAM) and maintenance carried out. https://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/_/SSE-AD-4800514?_ga=2.122317899.1989371707.1497430103-1902255913.1481940310 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/470877-pre-purchase-vehicle-inspections-recommendations/#findComment-7834916 Share on other sites

JGTC
Ah right, in the last few months there has been a handful of really well done top-to-bottom done cars go in the high 30s to 40K mark (read: extended sump, oil control, forged bottom end, long nose crank etc.) Those to me would be the best 'value' BNR32s to go for if you can extend your budget a little bit more. jaysevu
The first one went a couple months back.. it was sold within 2 days. Seller didn't post a number or anything. There car surely must have been rough underneath or something to be advertised at that price. Surely someone who invests that much into it would know its worth more. Dori*mon
That first one belonged to a good mate of mine, clean car, built it up over 4ish years. Something popped up and he needed cash quick, simple as that.
