Hi All,

Please help me identify any speed issues you may be experiencing.

Do these issues occur at a specific time?
Do they occur on mobile or desktop or both?
Does the status bar (bottom left) say "loading ..." or anything while its loading? If so can you post what it is loading?
Anything else you may have noticed.

Thanks guys, the site has been fine for me so I haven't noticed it at all.

Christian

The speed issues im having are mostly when using pc. Mobile  app isn't lightning either but is ok. When on pc in the bottom left corner i get waiting for sau.com and then waiting for google ad services and after about a minute the next page will actually load. I have held off in saying anything till now in the hope it will resolve itself but that hasn't happened.

Cheers Bill

Thanks Bill,

Can you keep an eye on it over the next day or two and let me know if it seems any better?

Thanks,

Christian

I have been having issues connecting to SAU....all other forum sites I visit are fine, just SAU.  I sometimes get the DOS based view [blue text, and just a list of the forum pages] rather than the normal GUI forums page.

If I get the DOS view then I cannot open any other pages, it usually comes up with a blank screen.  If I leave and come back in 10-15 minutes its then usually OK.

The other thing that has just started to happen as well, the forums page comes up OK then it reloads straight away and I get a blank screen [address in address bar is still OK].

Wow! That all sounds really screwy!

Can you take some screen shots next time? This is really bizarre.

What OS / Browser are you using? Has it been different over the past 24hrs?

I'll take screen shots when I can...just now had to try to get into SAU 3 times...3rd time lucky.

Was Ok 1 or 2 days ago, didn't notice a difference till this morning tbh.  Still using IE...been lazy,  really should have gone over to Chrome or Edge.  Used to use Firefox but my virus checker was saying FF was out of date etc so gave up on FF.

Thanks guys.

I've just made some more changes please keep the feedback coming if anything changes again.

Shortly after you made the quoted post, I could not reply to any threads for the whole afternoon.  The reply box at the bottom was grey and unresponsive.  Highlighting any text in a post did not bring a pop up "quote the selected" and there were no quote buttons anywhere.  I wouldn't normally say anything about this, because it has happened to me many times in the past (and yes, I was logged in), but the timing of you "making some changes" might be more than a coincidence.

Ok thanks for letting me know. It's some of the coad behind the reply box that has been changed so that makes sense but please let me know if it happens again (if it happens you can get me via the contact form or even via the Facebook page if PM's don't work).

Thank you!

For the last week and a bit ive been having issues where new and unread posts aren't showing. This is across the main site, app or Tapatalk. Sometimes a notification will show a new post but nothing is on site. Eventually when the posts show up, i can see there was posts made at the times i was not able to see anything. Im wondering if this is widespread or just happening to me.

Please check it out when you get a chance Prank. Thanks Bill [emoji106]

Yep seeing this too in the Android app.

Also experiencing this in the all posts view. No posts appear and then the posts sometimes appear after refreshing 10 times.

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
