Lachlan S
Hi all, Bought a shift knob yesterday and was just wondering the best way to install it. I know of the double vice grip method but has anyone actually broken anything from just twisting it off without using them? Purely asking as I dont have vice grips on hand at the moment, and people seemed to have gotten away with just twisting it. Ben C34
Theres no knob I I haven't been able to pull off with two hands and a bit of spit. Start slow then build up speed. You can do it. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/475096-gear-knob-removal/#findComment-7887229 Share on other sites

JrD
Hi, anyone looking on how to remove a manual shift knob from a v36. I just removed mine with a microfibre cloth, a snatch strap and a spanner (closed end) wrapped cloth around the knob, then strap, tighten the strap in the same direction as removal, wind the strap around a couple of times. thread through the closed end of the spanner then wind tight around the rest of the knob. use the spanner as a lever to wind off the gear knob. It was on really f!#%’n tight! no damage at all to the knob. see pics.
