Howdy guys good to meet some fellow skyline nuts!

Hope all goes fine with the 34, damn nice car!

I ended up winning the co drivers by 30 points after a timing mistake on sunday was corrected last night! I think I won 6 outright quickest times also, got to be happy with that!

Great event and I'd encourage anyone who is a little keen on motorsport and drinking to give it a go!

Thanks

Simmo

For sale: GTR, purple. Never raced, cornered hard or driven past 5000 RPM...

Who am I? I'm an ex-game show host who can actually drive, has a tough RX7 but due to sponsorship arrangements have to punt around in the sporting equivalent of a golf-cart?

Unhappy campers wating for Jack. Tara brought some good muffins to cheer us up though :D

Well done guys, looks like you had a great weekend and were very competitive. You gotta hate mechanical dramas, remember to fill us in once you know exactly what caused the problem.

I note that Golgos times weren't counted but how did it go against the competition?

Brakes in Golgo not as good as brakes in R34 - learning that fact on the job:

Jamezilla gets my vote for champion of 2004, im not too proud to admit i would have at least wound back the rev limit to 8,900rpm :D

Shame i couldnt make it to spectate, i was bashing around Horsham, Ballarat and whole bunch of places i cant spell in the mud and cold.

Good to see the R34/33 proudly flying the Nissan performance flag :D

Now that you have doen Dutton you know you want a re-match against SR/Escort in Rally of Tas :D

Will the car be ready for PI the week after next?

Great effort guys, pity about the clutch, saw it at Ice about an hour ago, looks like its been 'chewed up and spat out'....

oh well, think you better go for a twin plate this time.....

I'll be interested in entering next year.......

so did golgo have to go through an emergancy sticker procedure?

I would have thought Golgo had enough stickers as it is to enter any racing event without need for supplementation

:):rofl::(:rofl:

Congrats Simmo - fantastic result and, if the way you were driving at the NSW rally is anything to go by, well deserved!!!

congrats on giving it a go guys, and for how it went while you were running :) Also *very* pleased to see you guys hitting the cans as well

I love the G's you pulled in a car with stock suspension too, it goes to show how amazing a good set of tyres are :(

And Simmo, can you retire from these events so someone else can win? :slap:

Roy - we should have entered... sounded like a whole lot of fun. Next year i'll be there.

James - I love the comedy/ commentry on the photos.

Andrew / Gerald - Great effort. Sorry I couldn't be there to support.

Simmo - great stuff mate. I think I saw just about every one of your 26 runs and you didnt put a foot wrong all weekend. So well done mate. That car you were driving sure was one tidy package - I hope for your sakes its not the last time you get to sit behind the wheel of it.

Good luck with the quest for the Oz cars too. If you are down in Melbourne be sure to drop us a line and we'll catch up for a beer.

:P

Ni: I took 300 photos... will do some more online later tonight. Thanks again for stickers.

Merli: We all know you want your car to look as cool as Golgo. You = sticker-envy :D

    • Old Son, did you re-use the Holden ABS in the new shell or try a different module?
    • Yeah, nah. I had the actuator rod off it today. The arm will not move at all. Neither out, nor in. Yeah, you'd think so, but I've been thinking about that. Even when the actuator rod fell all the way off at the beginning of this saga, it would build more boost and faster in lower gears than it would in higher gears, and you'd think that that was the opposite of what should happen. But I strongly suspect that there is a thing with the gearing getting the revs to rise faster, that there must be some transient effect with the gas flow rate rising quickly, that you don't get with the more steady state case of the higher gears. Keep in mind - the gate is not shut in either of my weirdnesses. So things are not "normal". We normally think about a turbo spooling up (below the wastegate target) with the gate shut. I have all sorts of mental models running now where the gate is a little bit open, and having it stuck open allowing gas out while it should be going through the turbine has all sorts of weird effects (in these mental models). I'm thinking in the higher gears, the ex mani pressure builds to the point where enough gases spill out the wastegate to just prevent the pressure rising much more at all, or just creeping up, all the whole the revs are increasing and getting closer to the point where a gear shift becomes necessary.
    • Is it possibly wastegate actuator itself is sticking, or even the rod to flapper? Otherwise I reckon things are getting a bit rusty/worn   Also odd it won't boost in 3rd to 5th, but will in 1st, I'd expect the other way around with it slightly open as there's more time on your way to redline for it to spin up
    • Does anyone know ow what these two plugs are for and if they should be unplugged? Just put the dash back together and can't remember if these were plugged in before or unplugged! (Blue and white plugs) 🤦🏽‍♂️
    • Did some FASTing ...got the impression that the actual part# was a moot point ; seems all of these hardlines for coolant are discontinued/NLA... like, I take it you're after the hardline that bolts onto to the manifold...that's NLA according to amayama & nengun .... ...just to clear up some confusion, they typically mounted the AAC valve to the intake manifold somewhere near a coolant passage, so the body of the valve heats up & holds it open when engine's up to temp - no coolant flows through the valve, it's a mechanical, thermal connection.
