R32RB20
Hi I need your help. I just changed the fuel pump in my R32 rb20det, and took it for a drive. It was responding very well and then all of a sudden a few minutes into the drive it started to rumble. It pretty much sounds like a boxer engine now and the car shakes slightly. I need some ideas or areas of focus because I'm currently freaking out Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484293-rumbling-engine-after-fuel-pump-change/ Share on other sites
Murray_Calavera
What was the car doing previously that needed a replacement fuel pump? robbo_rb180
Faulty injector, coil pack, cas or head gasket. List is endless. What else have you done while swapping pump? How were you driving? What was temps? List mods and answer above. They are a 30+ year old car and lots go wrong with them. joshuaho96
If it didn't lean out catastrophically then it's probably an unrelated issue and you're fine. GTSBoy
First things first. Install fuel pressure gauge between engine bay fuel filter and fuel rail. Check for correct fuel pressure at idle, at low load and, if these look fine, at higher load. Maybe first things before the first thing. Take apart what you've just done and see whether you have failed to make a connection properly and something is leaking in the wrong spot. Broken wire at crimp terminal, etc etc. 1 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/484293-rumbling-engine-after-fuel-pump-change/#findComment-7973895 Share on other sites

Dose Pipe Sutututu
I'm going to take a guess and say the hose inside the tank between the pump and cap has split. But yeah, follow @GTSBoy's advice first.
