Trying to find the plastic under cover for an 04' Forester X. The main under cover that covers most of the front of the vehicle under the engine. This has turned out to be a crazy experience. Normally I can find parts for vehicles, if I have the correct info, no problem. But not this! The Forester is a non-turbo btw. In a Forester parts catalog, for model years 03'-06', it shows part# 56410SA070 as being the correct part. So I go to the local Subaru dealership's website to order it. I type in the part#, hit search and there it is, the under cover. "DOES THIS PART FIT YOUR VEHICLE?" I type in my VIN# and sure enough, "This Part Does Not Fit Your Vehicle. See Similar Parts For Your Vehicle." I click on that and part# 56410SA000 comes up. Looks absolutely nothing like the previous part. Not even close. So I go to a different Subaru dealer website and put in that 2nd part# (56410SA000) and "This Part Has Been Replaced By" 56410SA070, which is the first part I looked up. I thought OK, makes sense. They replaced the strange looking part, with the one I looked up first, so I add it to the cart. "Does This Part Fit Your Vehicle?" I type in my VIN#, and sure enough, "This Part Does Not Fit Your Vehicle." I've basically been doing this with various parts suppliers and dealerships, for the past 4 hours! Does anyone know what the hell is going on?? Thanks in advance!

Strong first post.

On a Skyline-centric forum.

Have you considered actually going out into the world, visiting the actual dealership, and asking the parts guy over the counter? Or at least just call them up on the phone?

So am I not supposed to post on here about Subarus?  As far as going to a dealership, they were closed today, and will be closed at least the next 2 or 3 days. I wanted to get one ordered and never thought I would have such a problem. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me!

Seeing as it's an 04 model, I would be hitting up wreckers first.

Unfortunately, we don't have any salvage yards around here with any Foresters that are around 2004. I'll try them again next Wednesday or Thursday when they open.

Oklahoma City.

Just wondering, why did you pick this site to ask for help and not like a local facebook group for Subis?

Good question. I thought there might be some knowledgeable people on here. Apparently, I thought wrong.

FWIW, if the question was about the undertray for an HY51 Fuga / V37 Skyline I do actually have some knowledge....having ripped mine off crossing a weir that was deeper than I expected

Cut back on the attitude champ, no one is obligated to help you. The chances of Forester owners on here are quite low, considering this forum is called Skylines Australia.

^ that picture looks wrong, because if you see the diagram, 56410SA070 looks correct.

You can always check where the mounting holes are on your car, and compare them to the pictures.

I'm not someone who has the ability to cut back on my attitude, if someone f**ks with me. If no one f**ks with me, there will always be a complete lack of attitude, coming from me. I found this website after searching for the under cover I mentioned above. I had no idea that SAU.com.au was Skylines Australia. For all I knew, it meant Subaru Autos United or some shit! I got an attitude from the first person to comment. And Aussies aren't the only ones allowed to have attitudes btw. I was born and raised on the South side of Chicago, where attitudes were invented. Don't believe me? Then you should visit the South side some time and find out. Fyi, I wouldn't venture too far outside your motel at night. Probably not a good idea to go anywhere in the morning or afternoon either. And never answer the door, or look out the window. Wedge a table or dresser against the door and leave it there at all times. Also, put 2 wet towels against the bottom of the door, and keep the lights off at night. Other than all that, you should be fine. If you make it out to your rental car. Cheers!

What a f**king weener.

I have worked in Gary, IN. At the time there were more gun deaths each night there than almost anywhere else in the world. Still not a reason to be afraid. 95% of people from your part of the world only have 3 teeth left from when you were addicted to meth, and now you're perpetually wrecked by Fentanyl.

The only saving grace is that most of you didn't vote for Trumpler. Speaking of which, I'm off to the oval office right now. Got to relieve my bowels.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
