Hey Ppl,

I am about to tuned my Infiniti Q60 with E-85 and if you can tell me some location where I can top up my car that would be great.

But my other question, is E-30 available because this tuned requires less mods parts and any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated too!!

I'm not aware of e30 in Australia, but I'm pretty sure e85 is still around. You really want a setup with an ethanol sensor so you can run any mix of ethanol depending on what you can access. Fuel Check NSW app shows 14 site in sydney metro with e85.

What are you adding, will you put in bigger turbs too? Apparently the wastegates are pretty small and can't bypass enough as you run more boost.

I'm sticking to 1.3 bar with 98 on the standard turbos with my tune on advice from the tuner, and boost drops significantly in the top end; apparently larger turbos with larger wastegates are needed to get anywhere meaningful from there.

Its a VR30DDTT, LPFP is Low pressure fuel tank (in pump) and HPFP is High pressure / mechanical fuel pump. Injector size doesn't seem to be a limit on that engine

Do you mean not a limit to a certain power level? Surely if an injector is 100% open, there will be a limit to how much fuel can flow through it.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear.....just that the standard injectors are apparently good over 600rwhp/450rwkw which you won't get to on standard turbos anyway.....they are much better sized from factory than we are used to in RBs.

This seems like a pointless exercise.

There is no E30 availability.

Ongoing availability of E85 should not be assumed.

Flex-fuel is the only sensible approach, so you can use E85 when and where you can get it, 98 when that's al you can get, and anything in between as you fill it up and drain it down.

And if that means replacing the pumps, fitting a flex capable sensor/ECU/whatever has to be done to these Renault shitboxen, then.....so be it?

I’m in a Nissan..

Thank

With the new Z1 turbos on E85 they are pushing above 725whp

Maybe, but this is a VR not a VQ.

I'd talk to Just Jap as they are the local AMS importer and have a workshop, otherwise Tunehouse are the Ecutec Australian distributor and said they had modified a few of these

I open the bonnet of a French people mover and see a VQ - it's no longer Japanese!

VR is short for VQJr

That depends, if the French got it from the Japanese, its Japanese. Or, is the rb30 aussie?

Also, wouldn't it be Vq for a junior variant?

I'm just being rude.

The VQ was developed by Nissan Japan, but it comes from the time when Renault were....ruining what Nissan had been before. Just look at a Nissan Tiida, and tell me that you're not looking at a Renault. In fact, just look at a V series Skyline or Z33 etc and tell me that you're not looking at something Frenchified. I just see the VQ an emblematic of that. It is also a nasty sounding thing. I'm really glad I chose to stay RB and not put a VQ30 in when I did my car.

As to the RB30 being Aussie.....arguably it's a bit Aussie.

    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
    • You have no idea how many goddamn boxes I received these past three months haha Most have been put to use by now though, luckily
    • Not going to pretend I didn't do a bit of junky work this time around, but mostly due to the fact that some things I am not willing to spend days fixing right now, like wiring. I try to do most things properly the first time around.
