...If i can't, I will be playing at the back of the field on my own.

You wont be on your own... im not too proud to admit im sticking with the RB20, then i have something to blame when im slow

If its going to be such a big turnout next PI day i may have to tell my friends who will be down from Sydney to fend for themselves...im going to PI :D

Ok speed racers.

Here's the scoup. Karyn has emailed me a copy of the HSV entry form. FYI the cost of the day is a reasonable $110 and consists of a practise session (passengers allowed), 3 timed lap sessions of 3 flying laps, followed by 3 "Super Sprints" of 5 laps where you will be handicapped according to the morning timed lap sessions.

All in all sounds really cool.

Unfortunately - I then rang Chris - the event co-ordinator - about how many spots where left. He tells me there is only 3 or 4 left. (they only run a field of 72 - compared to PIARC that run a field of 120!)

Not sure what we want to do on this now? As I said - I have the entry form if anyone is really keen to go. My phone call with Chris was difficult as it was on his mobile and he had bad reception so I might send him an email and ask whether there will be room for say 8 more (they might be happy to increase the field size - although there may be some CAMS related issues with that - I'm not sure)

Nice to meet you Duncan. Just chopped this up for you...

Andrew, ask him for a larger field as the chase sprints are huge fun. Have to try to catch the guy in front who is trying to catch the next guy and so on .......

Im going to curb my enthusiasm and give my car 3-4 weeks of day to day driving to iron out any possible probs after all the work has been done. Will also give me the time and opportunity to get the thing tuned 100% and lean on the old girl a little in the hp stakes.

So enjoy, i may be down to film, spectate, whore rides with others...but will see.

Sandown.

24/10 - Maserati Car Clab

Phillip Island

13-14/11 - PIARC Weekend

These are my revised dates that i will be trying to make. :)

Perhaps with a Friday Winton thrown in at a date convenient to a few others

I'll direct this question to roy.

When you rented the echo for the track day how much did it cost and was there a km limit that you could do?

Were there any other good cars to rent for a reasonable price?

:)

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
