I bought the Best Motoring Prodigy DVD the other day. They race a R34, R33, R32 GTR agains a v35 Skyline, a WRX STi Spec C and Evo V111. To my surprise the WRX and Evo set the quickest lap times. I would have thought the R34 would be the fastest and the R33, R32 equal to that of the WRX and EVO. The R32 couldn't get past the v35 Skyline. What is going on? I know the R32 is around 14 years older than the WRX and Evo though many say it is the fastest of the Skylines (maybe they just mean in a straight line).

Just interested in some feedback.

yeah I have the same DVD... just goes to show how far car design has come since the R32... I was surprised too that the R32 couldn't make it past the V35 but I don't think it had an oil cooler which meant it was running way too hot after just a couple of laps...

The WRX was a STI spec C limited as well... so it is about the fastest WRX ever off the showroom floor...

I think when people say the R32 is the quickest skyline they mean it has the most potential for modding due to its weight advantage? but I may be wrong...

How embarrasing if the 14 - 15 year old GTR R32 came in over the more modern EVO and WRX even though they they are the fastest versions of those cars ever built (standard) I think I'm going to call "SHANANIGIN'S" (spelling) on this one.

** Have not seen this DVD and I'm blinded by the light, love whatever...

Just out of interest, how much quicker is the Spec C WRX than the STi we get in Australia. Are they similar or is the Spec C considerably faster.

For all those interested in the results of the race:

1st - R34 GTR

2nd - WRX Spec C

3rd - Evo

4th - R33 GTR

5th - V35 Skyline

6th - R32 GTR.

when people say that the 32gtr is the fastest of the gtrs, they mean over a quater mile.

Some people actually still believe when they import their trashed 15 year old R32 GTR for a bargain basement price it is going to be the king of the road in everything!!! Oh to dream

Don't wake me, I'm dreaming. Don't wake me up till my dream is complete. Oh yes I'm dreaming... :)

...the drivers are often clearly not trying.....to me they seem as real as WWF

...and go back and watch them aqgain and pay attention to the tyres they are running. I think it was the Impreza that was running RE55s whilst other cars were using tyres of very different quality. Some like a fixed game :headspin:

Good spot roy,

Yes ive noticed alot of discrepencies in heaps of japanese races like this one.

They are good for a watch but thats about it.

It doesnt make sence to me, how the R34GTR can finish 1st and the R32GTR finish last!

Ive seen many a race on option/bm etc where they put some gtrs together and the 32,33 and 34 are all very close.

So how the 32GTR can be last and the 34GTR first confuses me unless the entire pack was less than a few seconds apart which i doubt

You are forgetting the R32 is near 15 years old as so is every component on the car, just coz it was fast 15 years ago, things wear out so it not going to be the same after 15 years. Also the fact that there has been so much technology breakthroughs in cars in 15 years!!

Yup, and they even admit they picked it up at some dealership. Now consider that going fast round a track has a lot to do with maintaining speed through corners: do you think they bothered to overhaul the shocks/springs/etc on the R32? I doubt it.

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
