Hey guys, i'm planning to move down in the near future from sydney. Mainly job hunting atm, then soon after looking at renting a small house/apartment. I'll be moving with 2-3 friends to make living costs easier (rent, food, foxtel, net etc is easier paid for between a few people). Just wanted to know what living costs are like down there?. Really looking to get out of home and start my life.

It really depends where you live for rental costs (as with any city), have a look here this is our main real estate website: www.allhomes.com.au

Not sure if you were a public transport user in Sydney but it's shit here, unless you work in one of the main centres and catch buses in peak times. Expect to use your car most of the time, so you may use more petrol, but that said, eveyrthing's a lot closer than Sydney!

Food and utlities shouldn't be any different although you'll probably use the heater a lot more :P

although you'll probably use the heater a lot more :P

lol...we turned ours on first thing this morning, and is still going

Def agree with pulic transport, it sucks and taxi costs are at least double the cost of sydney

Hope this wasn't anyone here: http://the-riotact.c...arjacking/47476

Things like this make me so mad

I have just heard that a few nights ago a guy has his 180sx stolen from the front of his house in the Woden area....just pisses me off that you can't even park your car in from of your house or take money out of an ATM...

For info it is a 91 Gunmetal gray 180sx VIC plates XAR246....

Hope they both get their cars back. Things like this seem to be happen more and more often in Canberra.

 They said Benevolent Dictator Stanhope was tough on crime during his stewardship of the territory.

Really? This has been the same twelve years that's giving us the likes Mully, and all these carjackings and thefts and the imfamous silver commodore 'doing at least 180 on hindmarsh' in recent weeks, my parents place was burgled twice in that time frame too.

Perhaps some real penalties for these criminal scum bags, rather than the bleading hearts greens approach of letting them off with a good wrist slapping toroam the streets after multiple offences - to steal our shit!

Rant over.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
