Kor'axis
Well, i have a problem with my car... whenever i go over 100 my car starts to shake. when i reach 120 it really starts to shake. Does any body have any idea what might be wrong with my car. the shaking seems to be totally dependent on the speed as it doesn't matter how many revs the car is doing. i suppose it's got something to do with the suspension? as a prblm with the motor would be more to do with revs than speed Any ideas? Silver-Arrowz
Wheels balanced? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/54779-shaking-car/#findComment-1070828 Share on other sites
foznice
sounds like you have unbalanced wheels... most motor mechanics should be able to balance them for under 10dollars Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/54779-shaking-car/#findComment-1070832 Share on other sites
Kor'axis
i just had them aligned is that the same thing or different? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/54779-shaking-car/#findComment-1070845 Share on other sites
Silver-Arrowz
That's different. Alignement is to get the suspension geometry right. Wheel balancing is to make sure the wheel itself weights evenly from side to side. Rain
cheers dude! I had this problem but even a ballance did not fix it. I thought it may be a buckled wheel but I found out most mags are not made to be vehicle spacific and hub sizes will vary from car to car. You could try Hub locaters. These are small plastic rings that sit in your wheels and this leaves no gap between the wheel and hub. It worked for me but because I had driven with the shudder for a while the tyres needed changing because they were worn unevenly. With new tyres and the hub locaters I dont have the problem anymore. Hope this helps. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/54779-shaking-car/#findComment-1071075 Share on other sites
R32Skyliner
You haven't got flat spots on your tyres do you? Been pulling handbrakies? This can also cause the car the shake quite violently at this sort of speed. usuckpoo
Yes check the hub diameter as they r vehicle specific Most pple are on the impression that as long as the pcd meets your vehicle's specifications, the wheels should fit no problem Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/54779-shaking-car/#findComment-1071886 Share on other sites

Kor'axis
no, i got my wheels balanced yesterday, all of them where slightly out, but they had all been balanced by the previous owner. now the car is not shaking anymore. But yeah my side mirrors, and rear view mirror have been shaking too. But at least the car isn't shaking?
