Hi guys, the rub for me is quite simple, Munro's car does the numbers on the Tillbrook dyno and runs the times and speed commensurate with what the dyno says. Wilson's car does the numbers on the Willall dyno and runs the times and speed commensurate with what the dyno says. Theo's car does the numbers on the Croydon dyno and runs the times and speed commensurate with what the dyno says. Mark's car does does the numbers on the Sub Zero dyno and runs the times and speed commensurate with what the dyno says. David Lee's car does the numbers on the Ice dyno and runs the times and speed commensurate with what the dyno says. Bu5ter's car ran the numbers on the dyno and guess what...............

That's Qld, NSW, Vic and SA Skylines all doing times and speed that look something like the cars are capable of according to their dyno results, not once but hundreds of times. Readers can draw your own conclusions:cheers:

Ok,

How about this, Fair enough your car made the power… How about the other factors effecting its performance ? Eg how about a 7th injector plumbed into the intake ? or even a shot of Gas ?, what about the fuel ? running Bp sure, but did you add a pinch of toluene ?

Some of the factors that can really increase power on a Dyno.

I know tristans car quite well. there is no 7th injector , no shot of gas , runs everyday b p ultimate with nothing mixed in it .

When tristan goes down to the plex next week he will be able to show what his car is capable of hopefully . 440 odd rwhp dd in a r33 should see it do maybe 120-125mph and hopefully an 11 to go with it. At the end of the day its not setup for drag. Its his street driven car and will just try and get the best out of it.

Im with you SydneyKid ........

I always see/hear awesome dyno results but am yet to see one of these cars run a decent time.

LOL..why is it if you dont take it down the 1/4 mile ppl wave the "shiela" flag:)

While i respect those that are into drag racing it does little for me...i find myself wanting to do a pass just so if ppl ask i have an idea:)

Either way even if dyno figures are playing silly buggers, its still making great power, hell even if the dyno is reading 100hp high, the thing still has plenty of mumbo:)

Im with Joel, i want a magnifying glass and 20mins alone with the car...i want to know how it makes that power with std injectors:) (LOL...for the sensitive ppl, i dont doubt the result, im just intrigued how it gets there)

Anytime any of you are in WA bring on the magnafying glasses.

This is Steve-SST not paul.

LOL...be careful im banned from most workshops. Someone told me a good tale about mechanic rates, $60/hr if you drop off the car, $90/hr if you want to watch and $120 if you want to help. LOL...sounds about right to me:)

I am too interested whats being done to my car and why its done a certain way to the point that mechanics typically want to sedate me upon entering the premises:)

Magic1 is posting a tru shootout graph today.

I think what we have here is that if i cant do it they cant, but we do sorry.

We get told by the same ppl in WA all the time that our power is shit and the only test is Speedworks dyno then when we make more than we claim on it we are still talking shit.

Last year SK said GTS-ts car cant make the 411rwhp we claim then it went on the Speedworks dyno and made 436 and here we are again even tho Magic one has topped 400rwhp on 4 diffrent brand dynos.SK pick up your game.

Ok so it seems, that Steve-SST and Sydney Kid, are having a argument so, is this why this thread was created ? How about we get both Sydney Kid and Steve-SST, in a boxing ring and they can vent their disagreements out their ?

Instead of trying to prove who is better then who.

My theory is, if you want to prove who is better then who, in Car land, Don’t do it on a dyno, Do it on a 1/4mile with the same tyre setup and the same driver for both cars. Ohh yes and on the same Strip.

I don't think that that is the solution. What is wrong with two different people expressing both their ideas and views on a certain subject? No one is trying to prove who is better than who, and I doubt that a boxing ring will prove anything apart from punching ability (or lack thereof :(). I don't mind intelligent debate that benefits everyone as there are always different methods that can be taken to achieve a certain goal. Keep things civil and on topic and we can all learn from it.

I do, however, think that a 1/4 mile drag battle will be a good spectacle :D

My 2c with respect to backing up dyno figures with drag results (especially mph)...

With a tad less than 300rkw (400rwhp) and with a race weight of 1557kg (car was 1475kg on weigh bridge with full tank of juice, + my 82kg) I managed to run 120mph. And it was far from a perfect pass.

So based on the above info I think a 400rwhp GTS25t should be able to run well into the 120-125mph range. A 500rwhp GTS25t should be into the 130mph range. These estimates are based on a full weight car, so naturally any weigh reduction will help to increase these terminal speeds. It might take a few passes to achieve these speeds, but even an average driver should manage to do it eventually. I did and I can't drive for shit :(

my full weight R33 128mph constantly with 420hp

I thought you had more than 420 by the time you ran 128 traps Brett? Weren't you into 330+rwkw (440+rwhp) territory?

Just going off track slightly, how much did your mph drop on a poor pass? Say a 2.1-2.2 60ft but clean pass otherwise?

yep Matt I had 330rwkw never got to run it with the more power though before it dropped the ringland, to be honest all my 60ft's were bad hahaha that mph was done doing 2.0 60fts even with a 2.1-2.2 it didn't change more then 2-3mph

    • Hi everyone, I’m having an issue with my R32 GT-R. Sometimes, when the car goes over a bump or experiences some vibration, the 4WD warning light comes on the dashboard. When I check the code from the control unit in the trunk, it shows Code 19 – ETS Motor. However, everything seems to be working fine — if I turn off the engine and restart the car, the light goes away and everything functions normally. Has anyone experienced this before? Where should I start troubleshooting this issue? Thanks in advance!
    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
