yeah but hip hop nights are always full of wanna be gangsters...

thats why I like dnb... cos of its rave atmosphere and the added bonus of an MC spitting lyrics... best of both worlds in my opinion... and no FUBU wearing imitation Tupacs...

I like NRG, trance etc but can't do a whole night of it... just lacks personality after a while... whateva floats ya boat I guess

i agree with snowy that the late 90's scene was king. i used to listen to tiesto heaps back then and got a hold of all his sets that were recorded on radio o/s. tiesto is still good of course (being number 1 and all) but now im just not into it (although a set from him in 2002 or 2003 that went for 7hours recorded, 9 hours complete, did almost sway me again)

now my vinyl collection has been replaced with other round objects in the form of a drum kit

I'm confused, where's the hiphop? :)

hip hop has the beats AND lyrics

a guy i buy drum stuff off is in a hiphop group. Fizard. heard some songs, pretty cool, and im not even into it. cool guy to :) (discounts)

98,99,00 were the best dance music scenes when Ibiza really made a name for itself. I bought a lot of albums during that time and my all time favourites would be Ayla - Ayla and Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar.

I was a big Rave fan back in the very early 90's so have a lot of Mp3's now from the likes of Force and Styles etc. All mine are from Europe where they seem to be cheaper and more readily available.

Reminising is fine but it can't get in the way of enjoying the current day

hahahaha... yeah I laugh at everyone going 'back in the day the music was sooo good etc, etc'

...but if you think really hard, maybe it was just the drugs that were really good...

Anyone used to go to Cage (right near HK)... you gotta have a heap of sugar in your diet to enjoy that place

Well you have to have sugar disoved in red cordial fed via a drip all washed down with a dozen red bulls to enjoy HK. Or alternately....

But thats beside the point. I still reckon the music from the late 90s was more enjoyable and could be appreciated in any state. I'll add some more classic's I'll have playing to refresh the memory (for those that know them)

Faithless - God is a DJ

Three Drives on Vinyl - Greece 2000

Robert Miles - Children (absolute classic still getting a bashing today)

Solar Stone - The Calling

DJ Shakin - Protect Your Mind (For the Love of a Princess)

Tilt - Invisible

Taylor - Calling Your Name

Push - Universal Nation

PVD - Forbidden Fruit

Karen Raminez - Looking For Love

BBE - Seven Days and One Week

Nalin and Kane - Beachball

Faithless - Insomina

For my stupid back in the dark ages mind - the difference between todays clubbing and back in the 90's is that back then is wasn't considered "un-cool" or "too mainsteam" to play the big anthems. Now if you were to go and see PVD and he was to play For and Angel or something he'd be uncool - even though EVERYONE loves it.

So dumb. Its would be like going to see U2 in concert and them only playing B side tracks cause they didnt want to be mainstream. If that happened you'd ask for your money back.

HAhahah I was such a n00b... I didn't even know people took drugs until some Danish guy asked me for some speed then wanted me to sniff his cigarette lighter.

I thought it was only in UK and Europe that they did that.

Personally I loved the music and the lasers. I just wondered why everyone else could keep dancing so long!

Anyone else listen to Tranzmission on RRR with Kate Bathgate?

I used to tape it every week :)

YES YES YES and another big HELL YES!!!!

Thats what got me started. I was 15 and after a few listens to Kate I was addicted and taping the show each week as well.

Finally, someone who knows what I blab on about whenever the conversation turns to "So how did you get into the scene?"

Rocking my world.

If you can enjoy trance, techno or whatever else you call those 100 beats per second noiseworks, without the aid of drugs, you have too much sugar in your diet.

You must also love chaos.

:)

OI!

im powered by just the beers thankyou :)

Thought of some more today,:)

- Rollo Goes Mystic "I Do You" ,

- Tomski "10mins to save the earth"

Actually the best 5 songs from this genre of music for me would be (in no real order):

- Cafe Del Mar, Energy 52

- Footprint, Disco Citizens

- I Do You , Rollo Goes Mystic

- Xpander , Sasha

- Symphony , Hybrid

As i wasnt really into the scene, just loved the music, im sure there are countless tracks that you guys have listed that would i love, but dont recognise them. There is one track i actually bought on vinyl as it was the best track ever...gave it to a mate to copy and burn onto CD for me and guerss what, never saw the vinyl or burnt copy, cant even remember the track:(

Then there are all those Tony DeVit, Paul Van Dyk, Itchie & Scratchie etc etctracks. These days any Oakenfold compilation is worth a listening to...that probably means im one of the commercial guys buy hey, the style of music in those compilations is great. Also have a compilation CD of songs from the 90s by Hooj Tunes (Spelling) that is a fav:) It fits in nicely into my set between Pantera and Roy Orbison:)

I'd have to say Snowman is right on the money with his selection of tunes there, it seemed to have a pretty decent run between late 90's to about 2002 when it died in the arse...with respect to volume of decent tunes.

It is good though to see a resurgence of some decent trance though....even though BT has started to go too commercial with some of his stuff....what's he playing at!!!!

As long as MOS keeps bringing out some decent annuals, then I'll stay happy...otherwise it's back to trolling through www.inthemix.com.au to find good music

Saff_cossie was also bang-on with Ayla........Kevin a nd Perry go large hahaha

The Mystery - Feel 4 you ....another fav :)

Also for some strange reason....probably not falling into mainstream dance really but I have got a thing for Love Inc - Broken Bones

    • sold listed as a Tomei LSD 1.5 Way For 1998+ Nissan Skyline ER34 25GT RB25DE w/Open R200 https://www.ebay.com/itm/174006114594?campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms=&campid=5338967980&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&toolid=10050&customid=71883f2ccc571356e0a757bc7adfdde2&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&loc_physical_ms=108689&loc_interest_ms= it went in like butter all gears, alignment, back lash etc, rotation and clearances correct, and if rolling all rotates smooth and free when coasting down road , clutch in or out over 10 mph smooth... its the binding, clunking and jerking from a stop that is most concerning, also seems like its going to tear the tires off in 10 miles of normal road driving.
    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
