Girl Needs Help!

I want to buy my partner wheels for his R33 GTR skyline can you please help with a few questions - Do the rims need to be the same width all round? Or can you use narrow rims on the front with the same width tyres? Also if going to 19” rims what size tyres should I get him?

I have spoken to a major tyre shop and they were very unhelpful. Thank you very much!

Hi, yes you will need to keep the same width all the way 'round. as for what size tyres on 19s it will depend on how wide the rims are.

JustJap also have a set of R34 GTR rims for $3K (they're 18x9) and look hotness.

For 9" wide you should get 235's stretched, or 245's. I'd get the 235's stretched as there's no sidewall flex, problem with this is that you gotta make sure you know how to park otherwise you'll gutter rash them to hell and back.

Don't get 8.5" wide, get at least 9" wide since thats stock width, OR 10" wide fit as well..

same size wheel AND tyre all the way around...

Go witha good brand, not something cheap like ANZ etc... It may be worth asking your bf what he wants, it would suck to spend 4k on wheels/tyres to have your bf not really like them

Like the other lads said, I'd suggest 9inch wide +. For me I think 18X9 is a good size for a 33GTR and the tyres will be a little more affordable than for the 19s. If he's really keen on some BIG wheels though, then 19s would be the way to go.

I second/third that you will need all the same all around.

I also think that if you're going to the trouble to get new wheels for him that they should be wider. 9" or 10" would look really hot, especially with a 235 or 245 width tyre stretched across them.

I'm not sure about offset as I've never owned/fitted a skyline let alone a GTR!

If your going for a 19 inch rim best bet would be to go for a 19x91/2 with a offset of plus 11 for a 33 or 34 GTR and the correct tyre is a 275/30ZR19 this will give you the closet to the correct height this is what Rays Engineering recommand for a 33 or 34 GTR, for 18 inch most use 18x9 with a 265/35 tyre i wouldn't go under 245 as this is what 33 and 34 GTR's came with so if you wanted to keep costs down go for a 245/40ZR18 . Also the PCD is 114.3

r u guys sure the wheels have to be the same size? cosa the ones on my car are 8.5 on the front with 9.5 on the back, with 255s all round

and the tyre placard says the tyres are different sizes, like rear was about 15mm wider, can't remember exactly what size, i'll have to check tomorrow

yeah the torque split gauge goes crazy. It happens on a friends car who has different sizes.

As for the 19's I agree with gtr13, go for 275/30/19 on 9.5 inch rims.

This is what I've seen on every GTR.

Could you show us the GT-Rs you've seen with different wheel widths front and rear? It's possible you saw GTS-ts or GTS25t's that had GT-R badges on them... not GT-Rs.

Yes, so far all GTR I have seen are running same size of rims all round. I think 9.5" with 255s is the way to go. To wide on the front just may the car more hard to turn.

thats for sure, especially for 19" rims. I would go for 265s at least...depending on how much hp the car has or will have. Cost big $$$, but has a sweet footprint.

I have 265's all round on my gts-t (bit of over kill seeing as only driving the rears) but looks hot with the wide treads.

Hey guys, thankyou all VERY much, you'ra great!. Just one more question - Is there a measurement or what is it called when one wheel looks narrower but isn't - sorry if this doesn't make sense, but at the moment the car has the same size rims on it, but the spokes on the front wheels are closer out to the tyres, while the spokes on the back wheels are a lot deeper in.
