ah sweet mite have to pop in there and grab some. yeah the cars coming along just about ready for a tune in the next few weeks. just a few little things that i gota clean up

Cool, sound like you guys are doing well.

Question, you guys seem to know about cams. I have some HKS cams that I got and was wondering what kind of response they might have in my car. The cams are 272 measurements. I have a stock R32 GTS-T with cat back exhaust 3 or 4 inch I believe.

i reckon +3 IN -6 EX is about right given thats pretty much what Roy's using.

Was it, i mean is it? Since we had the head to head i had the thing tuned again with and without the cams. Working on the tune with the std cams yielded better results. So i have no idea what they are set at presently. If thats what they were set at (possibily still there) then it wouldnt hurt as a starting point

LOL..i dont thin many if us really know exactly about the cams as not many people do the cams in insolation, with a good tuner before and the same tuner installing and tuning the car post cams for a true test.

That all said, unless you have a serious RB20 the cams you have are figgin huge for a 2L six

So they are too big? I was planning on putting in a RB25 turbo, maybe a trust FMIC(nothing too big, don't want alot of lag), fuel pump and 550cc injectors, split front pipe, sports cat, boost controller, and a Emanage for the ECU and get tuned. I might put the FMIC last, not sure if want a bigger FMIC.

Thats what they were set to when Sam looked at it - pretty sure..

went to start the old girl last night to prime the system with oil an wat not. and all the frickin headlight wiring decided it'd let all its smoke out from underneath the plastic. dunno wat the cause of it was still tryin to find out why. yet another set back :(

Thats running a big exgaust housing! May make the setup a little laggier then ideal

same as my old car used to have roy... seems huge but works well

also tread bump because soon ill be back in the rb20 game, thinking along the lines of 125hp shot of nos on a standard rb20 with 25 turbo :)

rb20 4 lyfe

quick question

who is making over 260rwkw still running standard cams, springs and plenum?

please list forum names (for contact) and mods if you know

Ive had a look through this thread and also the rb20 turbo upgrade thread already

not sure if people are leaving off plenum mods or if they havent got any

basically Im after soild over 260 figs to count out high reading dyno's seems alot of guys are hitting the 250-260 not may going over that though

the only one I know of is the one my work bought in full drap setup stroker with 26 plenum mod'd for q45 tb t78 full step 3 head job

or if you prefer whats the limit of standard 20 head and plenum?

Edited by 1400r

Another question, Im loking for a forward facing plenum for my RB20, are there any off the shelf ones available? Or Will I have to go a custom job?

Would also be interested in knowing what effect it will have....

(BTW Ryan, Ill be in tomorrow arvo to put some cash on that TD06....)

Huddy'e emo lets see if we can get to the bottom of the problem

i am running std inelt manifold, std cans, std springs, std throttle body and std GTR injectors in the std rail with std fuel reg. If i put an aftermarket fuel reg on it i will be able to wind a bit more out of the gTR injectors. I have only dyno'd my car with 19psi but i have run it at as high as 22psi but shouldnt because i am maxing out the GTR injectors. That and my means of boost control isnt great fdor trying to get that much boost into it from an 8psi spring.

I also made 245rwkws or something on a Mainline dyno that always read lower then Dyno Dynamics by 20rwkws odd.I think i was running abotu the same boost as the above graph. Juts need more injectors to squeeze a few more kws out of it, but thats only for the sake of chasing a number. Which i dont care about, as long as the car is fast and reliable at the track

here you go,

http://www.nismo.com.au/pricelists/priceli...ylineengine.htm

scroll down and search for "UAS PLAZMAMAN RB20DET CUSTOM PLENUM"

Thats a very nice plenum. Kinda pricey though

(I know you cant get "good" and "cheap" in the same sentence, but Im not super keen on spending that much if it's gonna make 5 5ths of f**k all difference)

I can get this one made for $350 cheaper (all internal bellmouthed/smoothed/match ported etc.) or have it installed and cooler piping get all my cooler piping modded for roughly the same price as the UAS kit.

plenum1mc8.jpg

Although Id still have to get new cooler piping made, so Id be realistically looking at a $1500 - $1800 proposition by the time im done, and might not gain very much at all from that? Be better off buying some cams and more tuning I reckon.

I still wouldnt mind doing it simply to remove the 3.5 foot of piping off the top of the motor, and neaten it all up I guess.....

Go to www.ripsltd.co.nz

He does rb20det plenums for about 1000aud, you wont find much better, the quality and fit is perfect! I had one on my old r32 gtst, i can try and post some pics if you need them?

I can get the one I posted for about $1100 - $1200 fully Installed..... modded piping and everything. I know we're talking about a couple of hundred dollars here, but to me thats a shitload easier. Drop it off and pick it up done.

Reckon there's probably more/better/cheaper gains to be made in cams and tuning.

Anyone else care to comment on this?

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
