The funny one will be Abs. He doesnt have stickies but he does have more ponies than we do so that will be an interesting comparision.

Hehehe I'm not expecting big things from my car. I'll definitely be running less power on the track than i ususally run and hope that nothing goes 'bang!' :)

Besides i still got stock brakes (32 gtr) which we all know are a complete joke!! So i'm hoping i can get a few hard laps in before my brakes fade :(

I'm very interested to see just how much quicker a similarly equipped (ie running the same tyres as me, hard suspension, similar power etc) newer model GTR is around Calder. This would highlight things like how much of a role better brakes and the superior chasis set up in the newer models play in lap time improvement (not to mention driver skill plays a big role there too :) )

Should be fun :)

ps Snowy those wolf 3d with sequential injector firing can work miracles!! :)

Well i wasnt going to tell anyone, but i now have what looks like an RB20 bolted into my car, but LOL, it aint an RB20 anymore.:(

Hence my desire to get the thing re-tuned...oh and the turbo looks the same, but somehow a 25G compressor wheel found its way in there:confused:

Im surprised Geoff has kept it under wraps without subtle hints:)

MUUUHAAAHAHAHAHAHAH:)

not sure if you serious or not Troy, but considering you were talking about the damage done by a a certain workshop to your engine with a a tool left where it shouldn't have been, which was an RB20 at the time, i'd say BULLSHIT! :(

Theres nothing wrong with the stock fuel pump, doesn't Emre run a stock fuel pump? :)

btw where is Emre - haven't seen him around on here in a while, is he coming on sat?

Well its an

- RB25DE head with RB25DE lower inlet plenum/RB20DET top plenum,

- on an RB25DE bottom end with RB26 crank,

- CP 8.8:1 forged pistons,

- prepped std GTR rods,

- Apexi 264/8.8mm cams,

- Splitfire coils

- Hi flowed TD06-20G, now using 25G compressor, so effectively TD06-25G / T67

I have copied a friends RB25 TD06-25G tune, but had to guess a little re-injectors as im only running the 444cc GTR injectors, not the 550cc like he was.

Also im still running the RB20 gearbox for now, but if i keep boost to 10psi i should be fine...Sorted she should punch out 330 - 350rwkws:)

A for the smokescreen, i was doing a bloody good job, but cant keep it in my pants anymore as it wont be running properly at Calder without the tune and RB25 gearbox:(

The most expensive part was paying for the tuners from WA to come over and do it for me - but Im expecting the results to be worth the money spent.

Mate... You gotta do what you gotta do.

If it means to fly the experts in from WA, so be it.

I presume Ben didn't object to the use his dyno for the tune. Than again, if he learns something along the way, he is gaining from all this as well.

Will you be aiming for 450 rwkw on 22 psi and pump fuel...?

Roy,

Good work with the build RB25 mate... You speak like a true poet with that list of mods. If you go halvies with Snowie, you should be able to punch that power out on 10 psi.

I am spewing I am not able to make this event, hence my lack of input in this thread, but should be at the next one.

Have a great time fellas.

bah - that car is an animal you'll be fine!

Roy - wack in a wolf 3d with me - come along and we'll get the cars tuned together - and between the 2 of us we can produce some extra-ordinary results! We may be there all night however trying every single possible timing combination but Im sure with the imported knowledge Im bringing in it will be worth the sleepless night.

The event doesnt even start until 4:00pm so we can have a kip in the morning.

:(

Nah wan't you Bec nor was it Leewah but some other asian guy looking to buy Golgo I think.....

Roy - Geez talk about mix & match :( here was I thinking we would have a fairly equal battle........

That's a very generous offer on your part Andrew, you are a good man.

Please make sure Ben is taking some notes, even a close up video footage maybe.

I would hate to go there in a couple of weeks time to gain 60 rwkw and he forgets how it's all done.

lol...it lookss like a std RB20 with a high mount:) So if anyone ever asks, then ill just tell them its an animal RB20:)

As for the Wolf, where do i get one? I know there is a big black cat, some say panther roaming around the countryside in victoria...just as fictional as other things being said in this posted in this thread if you ask me:)

Tisk, tisk, tisk...

Roy, it's because of haterz like you that we are behind in power, compared to our WA bretheren.

Unbelievers shall burn in hell says the tuning bible.

Well Roy it just so happens that the reason all this has come about is that I have picked up the distribution rights to Wolf here in Vic. So I can arrange to get you one no problems. I know Benno can't wait for the results - I'm sure he'll read this thread with in the next day so I'm sure he'll offer his thoughts on it all.

Yeah what you have done Roy does have it's benifits as far as people being none the wiser. As you said people looking under the bonnet would just think its a standard RB20.

Kinda like what Ive done. By using something like a Wolf to get my extra power - people couldn't tell by looking under the bonnet. No more than what you could tell if I had thrown a pair of 2530's on.

Haha, I think there are some major porkies being posted in this thread today... Andrew's trying to keep people guessing :( We'll see on Saturday I suppose!

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
