Warren you need to relax ;)

I only 'ever' type something if I am confident in what i am saying, the problem with all these kind of threads is people like yourself (and ARKON) compare modified Skylines with Standard competitors making any comparison totally irrelevant, liner32 in his first post said the R33 has an exhaust otherwise stock...why then assume its modified and say it'll beat a V6 or V8 VT Commodore..?

Arkon from your sig I can see your car is hardly standard, hence i'm sure it would beat a TJ Magna, my 'standard' Magna ran a 15.8, a 'standard' R33 GTsT would be no quicker ;)

thing is, mate, i am comparing what i consider an 'average' car for what is out there on the roads

if you looked for the 'average' commodore, you would find that they are mostly COMPLTELY stock. sure there are the odd one with exhaust etc. but there are so many compltely stock ones, that this makes them the average

if you looked for the 'average' R33, you would find that they are mostly with an exhaust and air filter. sure there are heavily modified ones but there are almost no compeltely stock cars.

so, the only meaningful comparison would be comparing the average car out there on the road

if you read my first post, then you will see that i agree that the V8 commo will beat an NA R33. hell, even a V6 commo would probably beat the NA R33

but if it were a GTS25T (read: R33 turbo) then that's a different story... don't believe me? go drive one

'98 supra wouldnt be to shabby

agreed ;)

best performance import NA is probably the NA mark4 supra

an R33GTS might be slower than a commonwhore, but it still handels like a skyline, and has everything else almost the same as its bigger brothers ;)

Misprint?

No....just pick up any copy of Wheels or Motor magazine, there figures are roughly the same ;)

There was a Standard Manual VRX TJ Magna running 15.4's, most of the other 3.5 TJs were running between 15.8 and 16.2 (AussieMagna.com Dragday) infact the Motoplexs own Demonstration / Celebrity BA Auto Falcon sedans run 15.8's....its hardly fast these days mate ;)

15.8? Do you even know what a standard GTST runs?

Yep...about the same ;)

My old 33 ran a 13.9 @99mph with nothing more than an exhaust and dodgy frontmount? no ecu. no boost.

exactly, ive driven both, my car being a 33 gts-t, mums car being a vt commo.... the commo handles like shit coz its a bigger car, it still doesnt lack power but for a naturally aspirated family car, obviously the gts-t beats it coz the gts-t is a sports car with a turbo.

as for the n/a supra.... if i wasnt skyline mad then it woulda been my second choice of import for a car, they look sexy and have power as well.

I didnt say my magna wouldnt beat my gtst , i said it wouldnt beat anything ! I bought my gtst stock auto and it was still much quicker than the magna . you ran what 15.3 ? stock gtst should run high 14s .

no offence , the magnas a nice car , great family mover for the wife but to say its going to beat a 2.5l turbo sports car is a bit bizarre .

and for the record I dont think the auto gts will beat a manual vt v6 , even with an exhaust . NA cubes count and the slush box is just the nail in the coffin

serious??? thats not bad at all, i always thought that gts-t's were supposed to run high 14's "stock", keep in mind like i said before...... it'd be hard to find this out as i challenge sumone to get a completely stock R33gts-t no mods at all completely factory issue and prove me wrong/right. coz all of the gts-t's ive seen have been modified to an extent, a simple exhaust is a mod therefore it isnt stock anymore even if it is only an exhaust.

what the hell is your objectives mate? Fastest car per $$?? I got my 4 door GTR for 16,000 and I can assure you that there aren't too many commodores that beat me. GTS-t's are like 9000 (imported of course) and supras are what? 24,000? R32 GTRs are roughly 20,000. Equally commodores vary in price and performance a lot... I would strongly recommend you just settle for the car that is best suited to you, and don't stress too much about trying to beat your mate, such wars usually end in tears.

yeah and dont think about insurance being cheaper for different types of cars either, insurance at 17 is always expensive, any age under 25 insurance is always expensive, a mate of mine drives a ford festiva, cost her $4,000 in comprehensive insurance coz shes only 19...... so you see, doesnt matter what car your in at this age, insurance is always a bitch.

4-door GTS4 with an rb26? :whackit:

    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
    • Which solenoid? Why was it changed? Again, why was this done? ...well, these wear..but ultimately, why was it changed? Did you reset the idle voltage level after fitment? I'm just a tad confused ~ the flash code doesn't allude to these items being faulty, so in my mind the only reason to change these things, would be some drive-ability issue....and if that's the case, what was the problem? Those questions aside, check if the dropping resistor is OK ...should be 11~14 ohms (TCU doesn't throw a flash code for this) ~ also, these TCU designs have full time power (to keep fault code RAM alive), and I think that'll throw a logic code (as opposed to the 10 hardware codes), if that power is missing (or the ram has gone bad in the TCU, which you can check..but that's another story here perhaps).
    • Question for people who "know stuff" I am looking at doing the new intake like the one in the picture (the pictured is designed for the OEM TB and intake plenum), this design has the filter behind the front bar, but, the filter sits where the OEM duct heads into the front bar, and the standard aperture when the OEM ducting is removed allows the filter to pulled back out of the front bar into the engine bay for servicing, a simple blanking plate is used to seal the aperture behind the filter This will require a 45° silicone hose from the TB, like the alloy pipe that is currently there, to another 45° silicone hose to get a straight run to the aperture in the front bar Question: how will it effect the tune if I move the MAF about 100-150mm forward, the red is around where my MAF is currently, and the green would be where it would end up Like this This is the hole the filter goes through  Ends up like this LOL..Cheers
    • Despite the level up question, actually I do know what that is....it is a pressure sender wire.  So check out around the oil filter for an oil pressure sender, or maybe fuel pressure near the filter or on the engine. Possibly but less likely coolant pressure sensor because they tend to be combined temp/pressure senders if you have one. Could also be brake pressure (in a brake line somewhere pre ABS) but maybe I'm the only one that has that on a skyline.
