I was just up at Barbagallo raceway having a look at the HSV day. I saw this white R33 GTS-T (i thought).

I waited until he went out on the track and spotted twin pipes at the rear. Then he layed into it and i thought this sounds odd. He came around and nailed down the front straight. I just stood there mouth open and said SHIT. No blow offs, nor turbo whine nothing.

went into the pits and there it was dare i say it. a 5.7 litre V8 in a R33.

Has anyone heard about this car before, it was road reg but i can't remember the plates.

Also interested in peoples thoughts on this conversion

Its a street force car from a tuning workshop in Wangara. The LS1 being an all alloy block is actually lighter than the RB25DET motor itself which makes it an interesting conversion considering how much power one can make and how much off the shelf aftermarket parts are made for it now. All in all not a bad conversion

I would like to see a Ferrairi with a Windsor in it. It might do the 1/4 mile in forty secs with a windsor in it. quicker than standard.

I am sure there is a few WRX's out there that may be a bit bruised after meeting this thing on the street.

Yeah I remember seeing this car at the Burswood motor show a while back as well. Still can't decide whether I like it or not. They've even replaced the little 'GT' badges on the sides (underneath the indicators) with chevrolet badges.

"My cat's breath smells like cat food."

sorry to hijack your state :(

but vuster posted this car up in sau a little while ago with some build pics from the ls1 forum.

Its interesting, not alot of room for more pipework and twin turbo's in there, but im sure it could be done.

Nice car, but ... it has a gen 3 in it, nuff said ... *vomits*

Hey guys, I better start by saying that I have a bit of respect for the Gen 3, being that they can make a lot of power, but they don't have much tourque/power down low, the most important quality about a V8. . .

Although you can make a lot of power with one, you can make plenty of power/torque with a RB series motor anyway, so why bother?

I wouldn't be surprised to find they did the engine swap to annoy purists like me, cos there is just something fundamentally wrong with a V8 'Line, they have had sixes from the 60/70's onwards, and they have been great motors. . .

just my 2c . . . :P

Didn't see the other thread, but this is the workings of Brett from PSI performance from memory. Was actually going to grab the 25 that came out of this. The owner had the GENIII in an ss ute previously, had the 33 and decided to join the two so I was told... I really like the idea. Can't go past the feel of the turbo though. It's not really a "which would you prefer" thing though. Both would be a blast to own/drive...

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
