A small intrustion if i may - stumbled on this thread and came over all nostalgic, since i have a similar thread on our forums, subsequent to my recent trip to The Land of the Rising Sun.

I can't encourage people enough to go there - truly fascinating place, both for lovers of anything JDM, and for those who just like to travel.

The entire thread for those who can be bothered is here:

But some pics from the Motor Show that SAU viewers might find interesting are below

(unfortunately, i could barely get near the R35 Prototype on display)

You can ride a monorail

nice pics as always.. sorry to be dumb but technically it isnt a monorail. its a sky train as the train doesnt run on a single rail. it has wheels and runs along the path on the bridge...

me friends and i used to always argue about this...

Oh wow, this has got to be the most interesting thread I've ever read here. The photos are very captivating and it makes me just want to go to Japan more than usual. Please don't stop with the photos, the more the better, I m enjoying this too much.

CircusMonkey/aussie_tul: Thanks! To be honest, that is a cropped version of the original, but overall composition is much the same. Saw many scenes like this which would look ordinary to a local, but to myself, just too JDM-lah not to snap a picture! Took a number of pics of this GTR, pm me for exchange of emails and i'd be happy to send some to you.

sig, can't wait for the next installment!

hi guys,

thanks heaps for the comments so far. glad i'm doing ok work. :D

Nissan have a much wider range here on home turf than in Australia. Here's a good example: The Nissan Cube. They were up all night thinking of a name.

Dubbed Nissan Patrol (I think - sorry, not good with 4wds)

So we know it's cool that the mirrors fold in on our 'lines. I think it's especially snazzy, and the chicks dig it too. Parking here isn't as plentiful as in Australia and I am amazed at the tight spaces used. Here's a good example.

Darling would it be alright if I pimped the Benz G class?

VW Kombi Van hot rod. Classic nice split windscreen. Also note: MOON EQUIPPED. Bet your rubbish Porsche isn't moon equipped.

No idea.

Animals are really very well cared for here, which suits me fine. Here's a shot of a dog salon and a multi-story parking bay.

Honda something...Smart? Del sol? Not sure.

It's a swish car, but it raises a good point. The car was sitting there unlocked. Petty crime here is generally low. Bikes are often unlocked, stores leave their product sitting outside their shop without a care that it will be stolen. It can be the kind of thing that surpises a foreigner. Here's another example. They have drink machines every where here, selling hot and cold drinks. Beer also (and porn). But none are ever vandalised. Check this pic:

10015.jpg

The door to one machine is lying open. Yet no one was helping themselves to the drinks inside. It was still sitting open an hour later when we'd returned. No wonder our cars don't arrive with alarms/immobilisers.

Lancer Evo with mega carbon everything.

Pimped delivery van. It was about lunch time and inside the two delivery guys had pulled over for a quick snooze. :D

See ya next time. :)

That honda is a Beat i think, midmount rwd.

Also re the security thing it's soooo good, i was in Hokkaido for a week last march and since there were 6 of us and one key to the aparto we just left the place unlocked and wandered in and out, left snowboards laying outside and generally took advantage of how awesome it was.

By comparison where i live in australia has had multiple robberies in the past week and i had to move the car trailer somewhere more secure since suspicious types were eying it off.....

yea that white 4wd is a toyota landcruiser .. just about the same as a patrol tho lol...

love the pictures ,, keep em coming :P

    • I was getting anxious with the DVLA not knowing if the paperwork is fine or not, so I rang them. No update had been given, but I  was reassured that providing the box was ticked on the V750 then the application will go through fine. I've been checking the DVLA website pretty much every day, in the hope that it would have been done. Fast forward to Monday 29th  and I was greeted with a new screen on the check, and it finally showed as Taxed and MOT'd, woohoo! The car was in desperate need of a clean, not knowing when this day was coming it was put off. As far as I was concerned I had another 3 weeks  I'm not normally one for using snow foam, but I wanted to give it another try It hasn't cleaned up too bad considering it's 21 years old and lived on a boat for a number of weeks. The personalised number plate is J2 XBK, an illegally spaced number plate would have it read J2X BK. BK could either represent  the colour black or Baker, which is my surname. I filmed the first drive, the Youtube link will be at the end. I used the same driving route I did with the 323F V6 when I had a new exhaust installed, heres a couple of photos A few more since then Youtube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjkFHPzjGDw
    • Thank you, 100% the intent. New coils were due and the 17" sixers look/feel loads better than the stock wheels. The aero options are so spot on.   Thanks for the warm welcome, all!
    • 98 r34 gtt Been rocking my latest setup and car running like never before. Have put a good 200 miles on it since all the latest changes and additions. everything is dialed in and have been driving it a bunch.   However, all a sudden last weekend as soon as I pushed throttle passed 4k and the engine stumbles, (slow or fast acceleration) hesitates and doesn’t go above 4100 or so, like a misfire. Everything else seems fine. I had a “good” set of coil packs that I removed from car when I first got it when I changed them over to new coils. I swapped out current ones for those, but no change. I also changed the plugs, no change. Seems to rev over 4 when out of gear with no load just fine no “misfire”, but as soon as its in gear with a load of any kind, it “misfires” as soon as rpm drop back below 4 k it runs perfectly, smooth, starts, restarts and drives fine as long as I keep it below 4 k while in gear. All readings look fine, no CEL   Any idea as to what could all a sudden cause an issue when pushing rpms passed 4 k?
