You assembled it with out installing the crank oil gallery plugs and ran it on the dyno?

How did you not see they were out if you cleaned the crank prior to installing it?

How much damage did it do to the rest of the motor and turbo?

Good luck i think your going to need it.

i couldnt even see they were missing, but i didnt check the crank as it was untouched by the machinist so i thought paying $9000 for the crank at the time i would get the grub screws with it but i found out the previous owner didnt give em to me. the workshop u all know so well didnt mention they were not in after setting the bottom end for me, and i just bolted it together.

still had oil pressure too which i dont know how. just not enough, and didnt cost me a cent to sort out so who cares, i know every keyboard machanic (in WA especially) is gonna have a dig but when u guys get off your computer and build a motor, rather than bagging people who try, ill listen. look how many goes it took you danny and u had workshops doing it for you, so for a regular person to do it and only have one problem isnt too bad is it.

ill have problems, like blown gearbox and diffs, but we shall see and i think, as im sure these other "god" engine builders u all talk about have had their fair share of issues with motors.

glad i saved a couple of thousand bucks and i actually know how it all goes together etc rather than being the regular WA checkbook racer as most of the built motors are, and not having a clue about it.

nuthin like positive perth people :D

hahah checkbook racers, thats GOLD!

Good luck with it cruiseliner, i think you have done an excellent job so far and hope u get teh small details fixed up without to many headaches.

Have tried to stay out of this thread but the one sided bagging that 3 of the better Perth shops are copping from this aggro little boy are starting to piss me off.

Firstly , our only involvement was organising the purchase of the JUN kit at near 1/2 new price and Brad, you picked it up direct from the customer so if anything was left behind then whose fault was it ?

Secondly , we then arranged for the machining and checking of clearances to be done by one of the best guys in the business and was done for no markup.

Thirdly , every mechanic knows that the golden rule is cleanliness and that includes the crank. If you had cleaned it out, you would have known that the grub screws were missing.

Your father rang and informed us of the problem to which we rang and tracked down that neither ourselves or the machinist had the missing plugs and suggested you contact the original supplier to which he thanked us.

This is after you have spent 13 pages trying to say that us and 2 other shops are useless.

You then rung the original supplier ( on his old number I might add) , didn't listen to the message which gave his new number and then proceeded to think it was some sort of conspiracy yet again.

You also owed him some money for the injectors you purchased and I have been informed by them your words were

" If you reckon you are gonna get your money , forget it"

That attitude and your paranoia about some conspiracy against you is some of the reason these "Keyboard warriors" as you call them are all set to line up and shoot you down.

Personally , I don't care whether your engine makes 10hp or 1000hp , it is your constant bagging that is annoying a lot more people than just me or the other 2 guys ( and yes, you know who they are ).

I wish Steve all the best with tuning it and hope that IF it blows up while he is extracting the power due to the severe lack of oil pressure, he doesn't join the ranks of the " useless Perth Workshops".

There are some tough cars built here in WA by all of the shops you have bagged and there are many happy customers as well.

Have you worked out what the common denominator is yet?

I suggest you look in the mirror for the answer.

Ken

Hi Brad,

Glad to hear everything is ok and back together, interesting i got the crank plug cause right on the head Lucky guess i guess hehehe. I hope all runs smooth from here on in. I got to run the big girl at the race circuit monday and everything went beautifully, no dramas (thank god) was only run light boost as it was raining.

What your plans from here tuning/run in etc? and did you manage to get all the run gear up to scratch?

pete

ps the rest of it i'm staying out of have had good help from all mentioned and i think steve will do a fine job on the tune

And what was with your mate brad giving me a hard time about my afr's on my gtr ?? I can post them up here for everyone to see if you like ?? As for this topic. No comment.

Assuming this was chris, seems to offend people easily without really meaning to.. wouldnt take it too seriously .

This thread made a good read, but customer vs. workshops is never going to end well. Keep it going brad, jus without the workshop references!

Who is currently deleting posts ?

I am

TJ - shut your trap or ill ban you for good.

Your lucky to still be around here

Kens, quite fair i thought. Post can stay as he came up etc, all you others are not directly involved, no need for it

Go back to where you came and stop trolling for an argument or you'll all get it

No, this is utter bullshit. You cant delete my posts because it doesnt suit your agenda. Well you can, but it shows how much of an ass clown you are. You have no basis to ban me , ive not broken a rule since this user name came into use. I slandered no shops, I abused no one. I expressed rational and fair thoughts on the subject. This topic is about the build of a high hp stagea in WA, if you think that people from WA dont have an interest and desire to post on this topic then your on crack. As someone who a) knows all parties concerned and b) now works in the media field relating to perth street cars, i along with many others have a genuine reason to add and read along to this topic.

dont stress about the banning, i wont be returning to this section of the forums again. Best stay away as to not stir the anger of sir ash!

Absolutely utterly pathetic.

And you just called me an ass clown... your at it again, good backup to the fact that you never learn.

I have no agenda. A good thread was yet again going down the plug so i blanket removed just about any post.

Some could well have been in the cross-fire.

Some probably half reasonable.

But tolerance for this WA crap is on the low so you runied it for yourselves

Ash, by your own admission, you just blanket deleted any post on the topic.

With all due respect, and lets put our obvious bias aside for one moment if thats at all possible...

Did you even read my post? Or did you simply see the name tj in a post relating to someone your fond of and assume the worst? If i had a copy of it id show it to you. My post was not im any way negative towards anyone or anything. It offered advice, and expressed sympathy at whats happened.

If you read it id like a real reason why it was modded. Look beyond my user name for just one moment before you assume this post if trolling for an argument as you wished to call it. Id seriously like a genuine reason for the moderation of my post. Several posts on here where not needed. Mine wasnt one of them. Had I gotten on here and posted some straight out utter stupid bullshit ie "wolf wolf wolf" id allow this without issue. This wasnt the case though

You may pm me if you wish to get this argument off the open forum, but as a moderator I do expect a formal reply.

i missed 3/4 of the posts as they are all deleted, so i dont know whats been said or what, but i know for a fact im not posting about my engine/car/power/etc again, cause it turns to shit.

i cant say the real stuff behind the issues with workshops as i'll just end up getting banned because people dont like hearing the truth.

when have i lied about the problems with the workshops? does a 3 week timeframe that ends up 12 weeks seem pretty decent to you? and then next shop says 2 weeks and ends up another 12 weeks. tuner says 15 min job but leaved the car in the workshop for 5 days? and the worst part is every week i'd ring these shops they would say yep this week for sure.. blah blah.. and in the end i picked up the parts unfinished as it was gonna drag out over the xmas holidays even.

i think im just unreasonable and expect someone to finish something close to when they said, but 24 weeks for machining is pretty poor. thats almost 6 months, would you be happy if u got your job done 6 months after it was started when it was supposed to be a 5 week job?

oh and i didnt owe him any money at all ken so get ya facts straight before u dribble. i had nuthin to do with it as it was between my mate and the seller. i paid every cent of the money for the gear i bought, and the agreement was he would ring me when he found the grub screws and he didnt 2 days later so i called back and hung up before the answering machine so i didnt hear no other number and he rang me back 5 min later previously when i used that original number so obviously it was still in use :)

So, do you think that statement is still true now?..

its easy yes, if i got the oil grub screws with it i woulds seen em but even with them installed now u cant see they are their and the holes are 20mm deep and the crank is totally black so even harder to see.

i know more than i ever have now so all in all a good learning experience.

Enough is enough. I've edited some posts aswell now.

Anymore dribble or anything remotely close to a dig at someone and say goodbye to your account.

Anymore "hinting" at workshops, subtle cracks anything. Is not going to be tolerated.

This is yet another formal warning to keep it on topic.

If you feel the need, send whoever it is a Private Message if you need to discuss off topic rubbish.

I cant for the life of me workout why its always the WA car related threads but its stopping as of now.

cheers

Moderating and deleting a half dozen posts is going too far. a simply warning would have gotten things back on track.

Is this a nanny forum?

btw I can quote some unreasonable posts from you ash that go further than many of these that you havent 'moderated'

    • Update 3: Hi all It's been a while. Quite a lot of things happened in the meantime, among other things the car is (almost) back together and ready to be started again. Things that I fixed or changed: Full turbo removal, fitting back the OEM turbo oil hardlines. Had to do quite a bit of research and parts shopping to get every last piece that I need and make it work with the GT2860 turbos, but it does work and is not hard to do. Proves that the previous owner(s) just did not want to. While I was there I set the preload for the wastegates to 0,9bar to hopefully make it easier for the tuner to hit the 370hp I need for the legal inspections that will follow later on. Boost can always go up if necessary. Fitted a AN10 line from the catch can to the intake hose to make the catchcan and hopefully the cam covers a slight vacuum to have less restrictive oil returns from the head and not have mud build up as harshly in the lines and catch can. Removed the entire front interior just shy of the dashboard itself to clean up some of the absolutely horrendous wiring, (hopefully) fix the bumpy tacho and put in LED bulbs while I was there. Also put in bulbs where there was none before, like the airbag one. I also used that chance to remove the LED rpm gauge on the steering column, which was also wired in absolute horror show fashion. Moved the 4in1 Prosport gauge from sitting in front of the OEM oil pressure gauge to the center console vents, I used a 3D printed vent piece to hold that gauge there. The HKB steering wheel boss was likely on incorrectly as I sometimes noticed the indicator reset being uneven for left vs. right. In the meantime also installed an airbag delete resistor, as one should. Installed Cube Speed premium short shifter. Feels pretty nice, hope it'll work great too when I actually get to drive. Also put on a fancy Dragon Ball shift knob, cause why not. My buddy was kind enough to weld the rust hole in the back, it was basically rusted through in the lowermost corner of the passenger side trunk area where the wheel arch, trunk panel and rear quarter all meet. Obviously there is still a lot of crustiness in various areas but as long as it's not rusted out I'll just treat and isolate the corrosion and pretend it's not there. Also had to put down a new ground wire for the rear subframe as the original one was BARELY there. Probably a bit controversial depending on who you ask about this... but I ended up just covering the crack in the side of the engine block, the one above the oil feed, with JB Weld. I used a generous amount and roughed up the whole area with a Dremel before, so I hope this will hold the coolant where it should be for the foreseeable future. Did a cam cover gasket job as the half moons were a bit leaky, and there too one could see the people who worked on this car before me were absolute tools. The same half moons were probably used like 3 times without even cleaning the old RTV off. Dremeled out the inside of the flange where the turbine housing mates onto the exhaust manifolds so the diameter matches, as the OEM exhaust manifolds are even narrower than the turbine housings as we all know. Even if this doesn't do much, I had them out anyways, so can't harm. Ideally one would port-match both the turbo and the manifold to the gasket size but I really didn't feel up to disassembling the turbine housings. Wrapped turbo outlet dumps in heat wrap band. Will do the frontpipe again as well as now the oil leak which promted me to tear apart half the engine in the first place is hopefully fixed. Fitted an ATI super damper to get rid of the worn old harmonic balancer. Surely one of the easiest and most worth to do mods. But torquing that ARP bolt to spec was a bitch without being able to lock the flywheel. Did some minor adjustments in the ECU tables to change some things I didn't like, like the launch control that was ALWAYS active. Treated rusty spots and surface corrosion on places I could get to and on many spots under the car, not pretty or ideal but good enough for now. Removed the N1 rear spats and the carbon surrounding for the tailpipe to put them back on with new adhesive as the old one was lifting in many spots, not pretty. Took out the passenger rear lamp housing... what do you know. Amateur work screwed me again here as they were glued in hard and removing it took a lot of force, so I broke one of the housing bolts off. And when removing the adhesive from the chassis the paint came right off too. Thankfully all the damaged area won't be visible later, but whoever did the very limited bodywork on this car needs to have their limbs chopped off piece by piece.   Quite a list if I do say so myself, but a lot of time was spent just discovering new shit that is wrong with the car and finding a solution or parts to fix it. My last problem that I now have the headache of dealing with is that the exhaust studs on the turbo outlets are M10x1.25 threaded, but the previous owner already put on regular M10 nuts so the threads are... weird. I only found this out the hard way. So now I will just try if I can in any way fit the front pipe regardless, if not I'll have to redo the studs with the turbos installed. Lesson learned for the future: Redo ALL studs you put your hands on, especially if they are old and the previous owners were inept maniacs. Thanks for reading if you did, will update when the engine runs again. Hope nothing breaks or leaks and I can do a test drive.
    • No those pads are DBA too  but they have colors too. I look at the and imo the green "street" are the best.
    • I’m not sure what happened I told them about sonic tunes free OTS tune and the next the I know .. I was booted..   To funny
    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
