Damn I didnt even realise you were going to Thailand.

You should have told us before you left.

:D

LMAO!!! hahahah

Sounds like a good trip geoff, half convincing me to go, i was just worried about the food, i'm not a fan of seafood or curries :D

Love the tigers!

Thought you'd like that Mike. They even do a photo where the most placid Tigers head is in your lap.

There's a lot to see but sounds like you love it as much as me Dave. My mates wouldn't play golf with me but so much else to do I wasn't worried. I was offered a Dive shop but may just go work for the guy while I finish my Dive Master and Master SCUBA instructor stuff. See if Army will foot the bill as it's something I can do without hurting the spine. You must visit these islands though Dave, really hammers every other place I've been.

Ash, if you lock it mate I can't share anymore :D

Ferni, we had a girl who is allergic to fish and seafood and she did fine. So much to try, even King Island T bone at one swish place.

BTW the girl in the black T shirt and backpack lower left in the beach photo is a dive instructor on Samui. Tiny little Thai girl and about the cutest thing I've ever seen in her tiny white bikini.

i was trying to score a trip thru work to cover a medical conference in thailand this October just gone and tried to convince ferni to come with because i've been going on about the tiger monks for like 2 years... but he got scared of all the diseases you *might* catch...

he can take at corner at 250 but he cant take a little typhoid :(

Welcome home Geoff - glad your both back safe.

Looks like you had an awesome time. It all looks so pretty.

Me = so jealous. <_<

Ohhhhhh tigers - I wanna meet the tigers dammit. That would be my highlight.

See you Tuesday - where you can share more stories and make us loathe you even more. :D

That would have been nice. Sounds like ferni needs to get a new ticker  :D

Nick my friends did Cambodia and Vietnem while I lazed on Samui. They loved it.

soo jealous! i wanted to see cambodia and laos while i was in singapore in july, but i didnt have a travel buddy - too pansy to go alone, being a girl and all... i also didnt have the money, but thats a minor detail...

Rushs there are a huge number of girls travelling alone. You soon find some people to travel with or do an Intrepid tour. Our friends had 5 south african doctors with them who had just finished and they were party animals. Eating everything and drinking lots. One night in Vietnam they all got drunk with my mates and their tour guide and the pedalcab drivers. On of the Docs got to drive the pedalcab with his mate and driver in the back and crashed and broke the cab in half and had to pay about $50 for repairs. Not all guys but gf's and wives and singles in the groups too.

Bec, I know you love me heaps so don't pretend you'll hate me for having a good time babe :D

Dan it wasn't the same without you and Hannah there for the first night. Tell her I have an even better place to stay on Lamai beach Samui. Thai House Beach Resort. Only 100m from the Pavilion, not quite as flash to look at as it is in a traditional design but the rooms are nicer and staff awesomely friendly. Also saved $1000 on accomodation there than with Pavilion over 22 nights but this time had a beach front Villa with an outdoor garden shower. Only been open since January.

SCUBA diving I recommend Wowie and Anna at Mui Divers Lamai. Great english skills with this couple running their own business on Samui since 2003. Wowie is from the Phillipines and very natural in his instruction and Anna is Finnish with a meticulous style of instruction and looked after the ladies and new divers very well. I saw instructors with the bigger companies putting new divers in the water with clearly limited instruction and some left the water never to return I thought. This was a group of 7 being taught SCUBA diver - the first level of competency. Just scary as it is too big a group. Mui will only do 4 with an instructor.

I had plenty of Army experience doing recovery diving but no civil qualification so just ran along with the others to have my competency recognised to open water level with some recommendations for higher skills to be recognised. Now to get a few dives here in the bay and other nearby sites so I welcome any recommendations.

just got back from sunny... gold coast via sydney. Went to the SAU NSW Xmas BBQ as well. That Drunkan fella's not as bad as they make him out to be you know :P

... ugh... 2 weeks away and I've got 2950 emails to go through. fun fun fun.

Sounds like an awesome trip Geoff!

I never really wanted to go to Thailand due to the bad stories over the years. You may have changed my mind on that one. Maybe for the honeymoon.

I've scuba dived PNG and that it absolutely fantastic.

And that chick in the white with the tiger is waaay fit! hehe

Welcome Back Geoff & Narelle!!

Yeh I know late reply, but I've been off the face of the earth for a couple of weeks whilst recovering :P

Looks like you were trying for a Siegfried and Roy moment there Geoff!

Don't show the kitties that pic, they might get jealous after you left them for a whole month, you mean bastard!! :P hehe

The beaches look beautiful.. better than hawaii thats for sure.

I do believe Jervis Bay in NSW has even *whiter* sand than that tho!

Diving.. well I don't know of anywhere (good) in VIC.. good diving sites are a bit scarce.. but try Seal Rocks if you're on the Nth Coast of NSW (near Forster).. but only if you like sharks, it's famous for it's grey nurse's and even bigger sharks around the 2 shipwrecks.. & the wrecks are not for beginners.

Of course if you want to travel a little bit further.. ;) the best place ever to scuba or even snorkel is Hanauma Bay in Hawaii (oahu).. you couldn't even put your hand out without it disappearing behind all the fish. The floor of the bay used to be a volcano but now it's a coral reef filled with fish, starfish, turtles etc. Best place in the world :D

Maybe a little far to drive tho..

Anyway, good to see you're back.. at least for a little while before you leave us you QLD traitor :P

    • Well, the trouble with that ^^ is: The configuration shown is absolutely a 1-way, not a 1.5-way. There is no way that a 1.5-way can be said to offer LSD action only on acceleration. If Nismo cannot get that right, then it is impossible to believe their documentation. That ^ is not a 1.5 way setup. That is a 1-way.   And so now I have allowed all doubts to flourish and have gone back to look at the MotoIQ video. I originally made the mistake of believing him when he said "this is a 1.5-way" at the ~6:10 mark. Because what he did was take the gear assembly out of the 2-way opening and just rotate it one place to the left to drop it into the 1-way opening. When he dropped it in there, the cam was "backwards" compared to the correct orientation shown in all other photos of that config. The flat shold have been facing the 1° ramp side of the opening, not the 55° ramp side. And I thought, "gee that's cute", but I was concerned at the time, when he put the other ring back on, that the gap between the rings looked like it was wider then in the 2-way config. And then I said a lot of things in my long post on Tuesday that could only make sense if the guy from MotoIQ was correct about what he'd done. BUT... I have now done my homework. I grabbed a frame of the video with the 2-way config, and then grabbed another with the "1.5-way" config, snipped out the cam and opening of that frame and just pasted it direct on top of the 2-way config. I scaled it so that the triangular opening was almost exactly the same height in both. AND.... the gap between the plates is wider with the cam installed in the triangualr opening backwards. That is.... it cannot go together that way. There would be massive force on the plates all the time, if you could even reassemble it.  So, My statement on the matter? The Nismo diff is actually only a 2-way and 1-way. There is no 1.5-way option in it, regardless of what they say. Here's a photo of a real 1.5-way ramp opening from Cusco (along with the 1 way option). And the full set of 1 through 2 way options from their racing diff, which is not same-same as what we'd typically be using, but...the cams work the same. A little blurry, but it comes from this Cusco doc, which is quite helpful. AND.... Cusco do in fact do what I suggested would be sensible, which is to have rings that do 1 and 1.5, and 1.5 and 2. Separately.
    • Welcome Adam. Car looks great!
    • "With a 1.5-WAY, the LSD is effective only during acceleration."
    • Well it wasn't as easy as I thought.... and it also wasn't in my original manual which I did end up finding. They discuss the process in the Nismo catalogue though and it requires slight machining. Page 145.  NISMO PARTS CATALOGUE 2020
    • I'm an idiot, my intercooler is rated for 1000hp. I had clicked on the wrong product. Knowing the delta P would be nice, but I'm doubtful I'll do it. Now as for an EMAP, that would be great and I'll get around to it eventually but from my findings in my last post, I'm considering a turbo swap now.
