  1. Are you going to hand over the dead engine to be fixed and pick it up ready to install? I assume you don't know how to do it yourself or you would know the answer to your question
  2. That sucks. A genuine one that seals properly will bring the turbo on sooner. 6k rpm is too late even for a gtx 3582
  3. You can tell by the colour of the piston. Apparently the genuine ones are black while the fakes are chrome
  4. Cool I think I'll get the same. $200 for the filter sound about right? I'm getting all my speedflow weld on fittings from the same seller.
  5. HPI dumps are 3" belmouth. don't go for split dump pipes!. http://justjap.com/hpi-stainless-turbine-outlet-set-nissan-skyline-gtr.html or RHDjapan.com has them cheaper
  6. Some have had issues with ryco filters around high 300's kW on e85. I'm not sure what to replace mine with before the new engine goes in
  7. Cool. Yeah my logic behind the screamer pipe is that if you're on boost near a highway patrol car it won't matter whether your waste gate is plumbed in. I just like the idea of an extra 2" Exhaust to help with flow when you need it. Although it would suck to get epa'd and have one extra thing to worry about
  8. LOL, great. Teflon (PTFE) should be resistant to solvents and oils but it's pretty old at this stage
  9. I don't aim for legal anymore when it comes to exhaust. A friend of mine swapped back to the standard system in his S15 and only passed by 1dB. bit of a joke really. Rules I follow: aim for quiet enough to not arouse police attention while idling at an RBT Quiet enough to not wake the neighbors as they can report you to EPA using the new app If you can't chat to your passenger while idling in traffic or cruising at 120 it's too loud. Don't drive in the city on Friday or Saturday nights. Don't be so stupid as to cruise through Kings Cross most importantly: No. f**king. Cannons. It is possible to have a quiet system that makes good power. External wastegate vented to atmosphere will help tremendously. just out of curiosity would a thick walled exhaust pipe be quieter?
  10. I poured some Kerosene in the throttles to leave it for a while and see if they leaked. Well sure enough all of them leaked almost immediately. I don't know whether to worry about this or not. After using some gasket remover on the plenum some of the paint started peeling. I ended up painting that too although it doesn't look much better than before! starting to look like an engine
  11. phew. yep didn't touch that. I think I will use hylomar. After assembling all this outside of the car I would hate to think what it's like diagnosing a leak once the engine is in
  12. What's the issue? I just used degreaser on the throttles and scraped off the old baked on paper gaskets. Should I reassemble with a bit of sealant? I was going to leave it dry but now you have me worried
  13. you can test whether the flapper is fouling on the dump by disconnecting the actuator and seeing for yourself. Might be worth a try but it sounds like you have to change the dump out
  14. I didn't have any issues with cam timing when fitting the belt. All the marks lined up but I'm not convinced timing will be 100%; that's where adjustable gears come in handy. I installed the 1000cc bosch injectors I bought from Kinkstahh who was kind enough to get scotty to knock up some plugs that will go straight into the factory injector loom. I'm using the factory rail and reg as there isn't much point in going aftermarket. I gave it a lick of paint though as it was looking pretty rough. Bunnings high temp black FTW I'm not sure who to get to tune it. I will need a dump pipe made up and possibly a pipe from the RH guard to the plenum. I'm tempted to either tow it somewhere like JEM where they can finish it off for me and do the run in tune. Any ideas there? edit: not sure why the pictures came out sideways
  15. Thanks for the tip luke I'll be sure to do that. I can't wait either! I'm putting the intake back together currently. Cleaning the throttles and scraping gaskets has taken hours today. remembering where all the vac and coolant hoses go is a nightmare as well!!
  16. 7-8 degrees is extremely low! flames out the screamer pipe!
  17. Yeah neo heads are good for 22.0 psi but damn if you touch 22.1 all your valves will melt. nah the neo heads are awesome. much better than the R33 item. This car has an entirely stock neo engine and 26psi or something:
  18. Those split dump pipes are known to have these issues man. Although if you feel like a power upgrade too you should send your rear housing to Scotty on here to get an external gate welded on. Atmo from the wastegate + big external gate = more smiles
  19. 0.63 on a GTX35 is a bit stupid. might as well go GTX3076 0.82 and make the same power less boost less lag
  20. that's gotta be close to the max of the compressor
  21. stock pump is fine for lift as the surge tank is low pressure (unless something's f**ked)
  22. GTX35 is an awesome turbo but it only belongs on an RB25 with 2bar of boost
  23. eh as they say 400 is the new 300
  24. Yep. I've ordered one from Kyle. $1240 delivered isn't out of this world if you consider the lifetime warranty and guarantee that it fits and won't leak. I've been the 'poor man pays twice' before and don't feel like doing it again! I also asked for the flange to sit 25mm down from the normal position and I need a bit of extra compressor housing clearance. Kyle was good about the extra bits The ATR45SAT has 0.7 compressor AR
