T04z is an old turbo. Tried and true but there are better options in that HP range. Someone will buy it off you though, for sure. Get something new I reckon. The car will drive much nicer

Under Bonnet Temperatures Causing Heat Soak
Blackkers replied to edizio's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I used 15mm bonnet spacers and removed the rubber liner just in front of the windshield. This was an old boosted honda prelude I owned many years ago but it made a few degrees of difference to coolant temps on the track for sure -
Awesome. How much did you pay for it? I have been using Nulon Semi synthetic blend and it has been pretty decent however I neglected the service interval for a few months and eventually I had some serious oil pressure issues. 2kg/cm2 on a cold start and about 3kg/cm2 cruising at 2500rpm, didn't dare rev any higher. Fresh oil and it went back to normal

Injectors And Fuel Pump For High Flow Turbo?
Blackkers replied to re34perGTT's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I +1 this entirely if you're ever considering going E85. If you're sticking to pootrol then you can use a Walbro 255l/h pump and some smaller and cheaper drop in injectors such as the 750 Xspurts. If E85 is even a 1% chance for you then go the bigger fuel pump and injectors because they won't hold you back on petrol but the smaller fuel system will have to be upgraded for E85. and that means spending twice edit: Walbro pump all the way. E85 friendly, cheaper and quieter than the Bosch 044/040 -
Yeah considering how much torque changed based on gearing and wheel size it's not really a useful number. even today someone told me his XR6 turbo made 1100nm at the wheels bro! yeah sick mate I'm sure it does next time don't use 2nd gear

Gcg Highflow Vs Gcg Highflow Billet Wheel
Blackkers replied to GreenGhost's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A respected tuner said to me yesterday "gcg couldn't highflow their own arse" He was also impressed with the hypergear unit on my car -
R33 Stock Side Feed Fuel Rail And Fpr? For E85, 400rwkw
Blackkers replied to HIKAR1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
You'll be fine. It will flow the fuel no issues. Those 1200cc injectors are a bit iffy though. Many people have had them die and I met someone who destroyed an engine because it failed under load -
meh, a big job makes you enjoy your work once it's finished. and if you love the car there's no way around it

base maps are pretty good if you buy a good ecu like a Haltech or Link. but a full standalone is pretty overkill for a stock car. whatever you do, don't buy a 2nd hand ECU and try to run it without seeing a tuner first. It could nuke your motor in the first pull if tuned for a dissimilar setup
-
Be careful this hobby gets expensive and you won't ever truely be happy with the set up
-
Everyone's quoting timing numbers but not saying what rpm its at. Top right corner of my e85 timing map is 26 degrees (7500rpm) from Toshi and that was conservative. I don't think he liked putting 20 psi through the stock rb25
-
I've got an idea. set anti-lag launch end RPM at 8000 and get a mate to film from outside the car. You know, for science
-
if you feel like saving money then just get a hypergear highflow done to your turbo. Those injectors and 18psi on petrol will make 350rw ponies easy. Adaptronic ecu is much better than a nistune + Z32 afm
-
At 8.5:1 and e85 you're unlikely to nuke anything without drastic changes E85 brings your EGTs down a fair whack which means you can run relaxed timing without the fear of melting your turbos. So you can use boost to make power if you're not confident touching the ignition. That's what I do anyway. Keep an eye on afrs though as you increase boost A small amount of timing and boost would be fine 9 times out of 10 in your situation I'm starting to sound like Johnny

Beware - R33 Gtr For Sale In Sydney (Part 2)
Blackkers replied to dodgyimports's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I can't believe the P plater tax. But they must pay it.. otherwise no cars would sell. Dreamers looking for $8000 for a 20 year old SR20de 180sx. You'd have to be stupid -
well put. 1% of power can be had with just a poofteenth extra boost
-
an off the shelf "9:1" comp piston won't be 9:1 in every engine. It's just a ballpark figure
-
I know of a 3.4L RB26/30 using 87mm JEs and making 800wHP. they are good. Also if you're concerned with compression your builder should CC the head and do the calculations prior to even ordering the pistons or a headgasket. you can always ask them; if you're spending that kind of money there don't hesitate to ask as many questions as you need!
-
This will end in tears if you don't address the boost issue. Listen to GTSboy. 1. remove the boost tap until you are 100% sure you're not overboosting. 2. pressure test the intake - very different to vac testing. However a minor leak is actually normal. the stock BOV has a hole in the side of it. 3. use an aftermarket boost gauge and don't go much over 10 psi if you value the life of your stock turbo. 4. Let us know how it goes
-
Just something to note. Nitto forgies are manufactured by JE. The difference in the piston from Nitto to JE was 1cc in the dome but about $150 difference off the shelf. HiOctane sold them to me for $1200 I think. maybe $1300

Yeah COD is often awkward like that. I had waited a while before checking with the post office that said they'd had it for a week... I was never notified. Not hypergear's fault though and the turbo was worth the wait!

Greddy Plenum Spacer Info (Torque/midrange)
Blackkers replied to skylineking's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Another potential issue is moving the injectors back by the amount of the spacer. Not sure if it poses problems though. An option would be to use the bottom half of the stock manifold and use a plazmaman style plenum which bolts up to that. -
Hybrid Turbo Outlet -> Standard Piping R33/rb25
Blackkers replied to Torques's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah 90 degree silicone hose looks ugly and cheap too but it does work so long as you can keep it away from the exhaust manifold; or you will be replacing it often. Another option is to pull the compressor cover off and take it to a fabricator to weld a 90 degree bend on the outlet -
Rb20 Vs Rb25 Power/weight Now With Maths!
Blackkers replied to Matvei27's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Area under the curve makes a fast car. 500cc less and no vct. Where'd you get the idea that a stage 2 r34 is 250rwkw anyway? Wtf does stage 2 mean these days
