Hey all, If your not a Mushroom you would know by now that the SAU Nationals 2013 is being held in South Australia this year. It's a bit of a trip but reward yourself and take some well earned time off work and make the Journey. I encourage you all to consider as these are AWESOME events. Much fun during the days and shenanigans in the evenings. A number of us ACT peeps represented @ Shepparton Vic in 2011 and Goulbourn NSW in 2012. How Concerned Should I Be? R32 Engine Knock
Sinista32 replied to eric.marsh.bnr32's topic in General Maintenance
Less than 10% variation so not bad as said above. My concern with these pre93 GTR's is oil starvation. More likely to occur during/after some spirited driving. -
Hcr32 Instrument Cluster Problem
Sinista32 replied to Kaze21's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
they all have that single crack in the thick white plastic ring. At least a dozen or so that I have seen.. The greenish/bluey film is the later models (late 92-94) I hope your 32 is same. You will see it has 3 plugs. The one closest to the tacho (right lower?) has TAM marked on the circuit. In that plug hole make sure carefully that you prise those plastic membrame conections upwards/inwards. The plug itself make sure the copper connectors are also gently raised. Clean the copper with a very light sand to make a good connection also. Hope this helps for the tacho at least. Otherwise it will be purely power/signal related. -
Haltech - nuff said. (based on budget as per above, use search)

before imports (no tow bar), it was children's plastic toys shoved on tow ball with their arse holes..... replaced the ol' tennis ball. I admit I used to have this "not the mama" cause my kids loved it !

Test Pipe Install, Now Trouble Starting R32 Gtr
Sinista32 replied to eric.marsh.bnr32's topic in General Maintenance
On a side note. I recently bought a RH9 Hyper Alternator (130a instead of 80a) and am buying a Hiper starter motor to replace the aged OEM units (22yo). Will get them fitted after Tax time. Should improve things slightly. Cheers- 3 replies

Yes. http://www.qcat.qld.gov.au/about-qcat/publications/qcat-annual-report-2009-10/minor-civil-disputes-overview MTAQ may also be able to help if the said shop is a member

Too much gall and not enough stoned Sorry to hear Rob. Wish the missus good from us.

Working with lawyers you know you have given the shop first right of repair. Contact fair trading and pursue this. It's not acceptable. In the meantime have your skyline repaired or quoted by another reputable shop (Quote/Receipts) Wait for the hearing and see how you go. I am sure you will do well. I have seen 2 businesses in my area fold through lack of trade after similar poor workmanship Your rant is perfectly valid and a number of us have experienced similar treatment and frustrations.

Test Pipe Install, Now Trouble Starting R32 Gtr
Sinista32 replied to eric.marsh.bnr32's topic in General Maintenance
I have a 92 GTR with test pipe. For me it is interchangeable without real issue. Although, I let it prime the fuel for about 5 seconds. Attempt start, let it prime again and then she starts. - sounds similar to you. Also no o2 in the cat delete pipe. Leave it for a minute or so and then move off, staying off boost or hard accell till warmed up. I live in Canberra which isn't as cold but is close. You could try this also. Disconnect battery and leave for a while. ECU reset basically. Cold start - Reconnect battery and start car, do not use accelerator, just let it Idle for 10 mins. (Re-learns and adjusts idle etc.) Lastly - take it to your tuner and get them to keep it overnight and fix the cold start. Oh and it's not a silly question. I am sure there are many of us with this- 3 replies

Hcr32 Instrument Cluster Problem
Sinista32 replied to Kaze21's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Correct - the silver facia is aftermarket. There is 2 different clusters as you mentioned. - The easy way to tell is to remove the cluster and check the colour of the film on the back. - If it is blue it is the later model if it's a fawn colour it is the earlier model. A fair few of the clusters which have been replaced the Tacho's readout is dicky. It can be from using the wrong series cluster as the electrical signals and resistance is different (different pins) The needle may have been moved when the tacho was apart. The plug supplying the signal may not be seated properly or connections made. With the speedo it is likely sensor/cable related. Do some more searching on here. I had a quick look but couldn't find the right posts. There are heaps. -
