  1. I live on a dirt road. Cleaning with a rag isn't an option. Besides, other reasons could be oil leaks etc. May have to degrease to find where the oil is really coming from. There are many reasons to do it. Just gotta do it right so not to harm anything. High pressure however is a HUGE no-no near engines IMO. If I can get 3 inch of clay of a dirt bike engine that has baked on there, with not more than garden house pressure, I can't see the need for a high pressure hose on a car engine!
  2. I thought 99% of commodores had HSV on them anyways, If I owned a HSV, i'd take the badges/stickers off anyways...not that i'd own one, just saying. > I think it is, unfortunatly, quite 'normal' to put HSV/NISMO/etc etc on cars. I like the ones that get it mixed up. My plan just to be funny was to put every company on my door (drift style or whatever u say) so i'd have HSV..tickford...TRD..ralliart etc etc, everything BUT Nismo. Unfortunatly someone in Newcastle has already done it (there is a standard lancer running around with it...altho that was over a year ago now). So my idea died in the a$$ I work at a school and it's pretty common to hear "MAN I've got my Nismo/HSV sticker on the car" Or you go to the computers class, and they are all turning their cars into rice buckets. Face it, it's just the in thing. If you want to be different get a car that isn't as common. My take on GTR badges on GTS-T's....well it's a silly thing to do. But I'd like to ask anyone that is dis'n on those people...have you got a wing on your Skyline? And then ask yourself, is your Skyline an aeroplane? If not, you better take the wing off, can you imagine how you will be getting ridiculed by the pilots around the world ???? Haha Sorry, couldn't help it Just have a laugh at the people that do it, and move on. It's not that big-a-deal, it provides comic relief.
  3. Don't need to double clutch? But in fast and the furious Vin Diesel says he shoulda been double clutching...during a drag race...in a 10 second car...but the drag takes a minute or more... How could hollywood be wrong?
  4. well.....u were double clutching right...he wasn't......so u were right...then again, if u say that u HAVE to double clutch, then u were wrong...
  5. My take on it is that you are double clutching. You're friend is just doing heal and toe, he is changing gears normally, no double clutch. That said, I don't see the point in double clutching in modern cars. Maybe they should get dog boxes for cars so we dont even need the clutch.
  6. The mods should really get a hold of these 5 odd 15 year change threads and lock them all bar 1 so all the content goes into one thread.....
  7. I got my import approval on the 4/02/05 for the 4dr GTST Just got in on time Car should be in Aus today if it isn't here already (Waiting to hear ship status) W00T!

  9. What's it mean these days? GTR - Got The Rice? hee hee And I guess RB would be 'Rice Burner' I'm teasing, please don't kill me
  10. dad did that to his car when he was like 18 (ie. 70s) all u need is a fuel line, a tap on it prolly use relays and that stuff nowadays tho,a spark plug, and woo hoo. flames. good way to void your insurance, attract attention (cops and d!ckheads) But to answer your question, as far as rice goes it would look kewl till u burnt sum1 and got sued. best of luck to ya
  11. cool. sounds good So south circuit....is that the one they have the drift comps on (the one under the bridge) or is it the main faster circuit, where they cut of the cool corners around the bridge? If it is the main circuit, how does drifitng go there? I havn't paid a huge amount of attention, but i', guessing u'd need to be doing some bloody fast drift to drift thos corners?
  12. That will happen anyways with the fuel prices, just give it 10 years.
  13. Cool. So can you rotate between track and drift? Or do you select which you want to do and stick to it?
  14. Preditor, 40 zones are usually associated with School zones around here. Maybe it's different there, but I only know 1x40 zone here that ISN'T a school zone. So I don't have a big problem with it. 40 sux, but it's only a 1min drive through a school zone, it doesn't effect your trip that much. Fair enough your car doesn't like it...but still it obviously can handle it. The thing that annoys me is people doing 40 in the school zone, even tho it's night time, or lunch time (ie. outside school zone times) 50 zones are a joke, i reckon it shoulda stayed at 60, where I live (raymond terrace) the main rd (Which was the highway until the bypass went in) is a 50 zone, it's a joke, you gotta drive at 50 for about 5kms or something. It should be an 80 zone, it is a big stretch of road. But yeah, alot of speed limits are silly. But some are needed, espcially the school zones. Back on topic - That cop should get his a$$ handed to him. I have been told that cops have to have a sign out xx metres before the radar trap, plus be clearly visable both vehicle and person. I have no idea if this is true or not, but have been told if you appeal it, and they were hidden, and no signs up, then you will get off.... that said that means any cop on the move can't get you....and I have NEVER seen a mobile radar with signs out - Only the fixed ones do that. So I am guessing what I heard is incorrect. But if it is correct, then make sure you get a photo of Mr Policeman hiding if they do book you.
  15. Just to clarify - Is that only 60 minutes of track time for the whole day? And it must be 1 session drift, 2 track? I.E. Can you do 3 of track, or 3 of drift, or 2 drift, 1 track.... I doubt I will have my car by then, But I could be interested in the next one.
  16. Ok, so I can't insure my R32 89 GTST 4 door with just cars, cause they don't exist. They will only let me insure it as a R31, (Cause that is what it is apparently) at market value which is $4-8000. I guess my car doesn't exist.
  17. Preditor - Yeah, you are right, but still, It would be silly to go out and have something happen and then everyone go "oh duuuuh EVERYONE knows that you have to do xxxxxxxxx before taking a RB20det" Prefer to look like a fool now than later and have problems with the car But yeah, this is all about fun, I don't plan to be competitive. I don't plan to spend heaps on the car. I just want to make sure the car is up to the task.
  18. Ok, sorry guys, I should have been more specific. My questions refer to a (mostly) standard car, that is 'known' to be pretty much 'all good' in the wear and tear of things. And a known history of when fluid changes occured. As soon as the car reaches my garage, it goes onto the pit, and will change ALL fluids. I will be checking as many bolts and nuts as I can find, in particular steering and suspension. I am lucky enough to have a daily driver, so there is no drama with it taking a week to do all the above and have it sit on stands. I will check brake pads as well. I will replace the fuel/oil filters. I will then run it for 100kms or so, and do atleast the engine oil and coolant again, just to make sure it is flushed, and I see that it comes out clean for peace of mind. The first motorkhana I will be going in is on the 12th march. And I planned it to be my 'introduction' to the car actually doing some 'work', I should have the car mid -late February which gives me a week or 3 to do the above, and get a decent drive in it, but obviously with the motorkhana and a reasonable amount of constant wheel spin (hey...i am there for fun, not to win the time trial ) it will be a better test of if stuff can go wrong with it. Then assuming all that works out, we are hiring our local hill climb and then later on i will look at drift after I get the FMIC. 'Track' will come later, I don't know of any organised track days, atleast I know what motorkhana's are on, and the hill climb we can hire anytime. Looking forward to using my own car in a motorkhana so I can go a bit harder than usual - I have been using my mate's 180, and while he was getting up to a 2nd gear drift, I thought it best not to do that in someone else's car! Cheers guys
  19. OK thanks guys, is there any mechanical type things I need to watch out for - As I said, like the SR20 blowing gasket(s). Tools - Yeah, I trail ride, so I have an arsonal of tools handy, I am the one that every comes to on the trail and at the motorkhana's I have been in. Dyno - Yeah, I plan to put it on the dyno the 2nd weekend I have it (first will be chaning fluids etc) to get a base power and check stuff out. Then I will do my mods and post up the difference I got, so I know how much difference x mod makes in reality. Fluids - Engine Oil I will definatly change. Gearbox I will probably change, wallet permitting, but will at minimum check level. Interesting that you say brake fluid change. I didn't think it would need to be changed too often. Guess it's different on the track?
  20. Hey Guys, When I get my pretty much standard 89 GTST, I am going to be entering in many motorkhana's, and hopefully a few track days and drift. Can anyone tell me any common problems the RB20's have under these conditions. Is there anything I should be doing prior to the day? I will of course change oil and do a general check over the car before and on the day, but I am refering to stuff like, I heard the SR20's commonly blow a gasket...so you can upgrade to a thicker one or something. I can't remember which gasket it was though, I didn't take too much notice. I will hopefully have a FMIC by the motorkhana's, and I will definatly have one before the track day. I assume a brake upgrade would be required for a track day? I assume the standard ones will have HUGE brake fade before a lap is even through? I am sure all the things I need to do have been covered before, I just need to know what I should be doing so I can search for the "How To's" Thanks Chris
  21. Just letting you guys know, my car is on the kiwi boat that left japan on the 22nd. I purchased the car just before Christmas. So it took less then a month from purchase to getting on the boat. No I don't know which port it was, but I think it was whatever the last port the Kiwi ship left from. It's an 89 4 door gtst. Lands in aus on 4th february. So I should have it mid-late February
  22. Has anyone dealt with 'antitheft' ? My importer does, I just want more information on the alrams, but can't find ANYTHING. I will try calling that number listed above. Anyone know their website?
  23. I recieved a letter today, they need 'purchase document' which my importer says he has already sent....so he is sending again. grrrr oh well. thanx guys
  24. Hey, I applied for approval 3 weeks ago, and have not recieved anything yet. It's for an 89 gtst 4 door. I know it's christmas/new years, but should I have recieved anything? And should I be chasing it? My importer says there is no point chasing it. Comments/Ideas? Thanks Chris
