  1. Oooh man! It took me way too long to work out what you were talking about. I had never heard of the term boofhead before reading this thread. I just went along with it and assumed it was a special way of adjusting things. Because people used it so confidently and GTSBoy is always so educated on everything. It would have been pretty funny if I ended up asking my mechanic about boofhead timing adjustments
  2. Some thoughts on this. a) I'd say it depends. Talk to the owner and gauge what they are like. Even though the internet says so not everyone is out there trying to rip you off. I bought my Stagea without having driven it myself and only having been a passenger. Do I regret it? No. Would I do it again? Probably also no. In my case the owner was a great guy, he knew his stuff and was super straightforward about any issues with the car. And he clearly cared at least as much as I do. Borderline OCD, really. b) Definitely take those driving lessons! c) If you don't feel comfortable to test drive yourself and don't have anyone to do it, I would consider helping out. Within reason of course. Feel free to get in touch at the time d) If you buy @Dose Pipe Sutututu's Skyline you'll be morally obliged to start a build thread of your own. And keep everyone updated on what is happening with the car. Possibly also updates on what you do with your house.
  3. It's funny you say that. I have been dailying a borrowed 2021 3 series because my Stagea is out. Whilst driving the beamer I have started imagining driving my car and making turbo noises to myself. It's nice not to cringe on every bump and pothole with air suspension instead of coilovers and having a working sound system. But the lack of character / feedback / noise is very much a thing. Surely there must be a way. Even if it would cost a couple grand. At least I imagine it more doable than laying out $1xxk to go through a full purchase to find out. @robbo_rb180 how did you get into an M3 on track?
  4. I feel like this needs some kind of gofundme campaign. Get enough funds together to rent an M3 for 2 weeks so that you can get a proper feel for what it is like to own one. I would hate for you to sell your shitbox to then realise that BMWs are worse. Because at the end of the day your shitbox is unique. But if you do the 2 weeks renting and still think BMW is the way to go, then by all means do it.
  5. Man, iso is tough when everyone and everything else is pretty much back to normal. I went through it recently and it felt like a being a proper convict. It would be a serious drive for you to come up from the Snowys though for the aqua golf?
  6. It sounds fun! Someone at work mentioned this place just the other week. Jen and I will be there. I'm pretty sure I have played golf on the Nintendo Wii once so I feel well prepared. Going to aim for nothing less than the $500 cash price.
  7. Just as an aside, the door links in the R34 sedan and WGNC34 Stagea are not the same. I didn't look at the epc-data correctly. I must have been blinded by the glorious fantasy of having doors that actually work. See for example the two diagrams of the doors: R34 <-> Stagea. 80410M in the middle. R34 uses 80430AA000 and Stagea uses 804300V000. The doors also look nothing like each other. Anyways, I ordered a set of door links before realising so will at least have a look if it can work. I'm just glad I only ordered the links and not whole bloody doors. That would have been pretty funny in a not really funny kind of way.
  8. Man, tell me about it. I think personally I snapped the day I had to wedge a broomstick in the door to keep it open in the perfectly level courtyard. It was ridiculous. So yeah I'm super excited about this. Looks like the Stagea uses the same bits for the doors. Just looking for somewhere to get them from. Amayama has them, but a bit of a lead time. Trust-kikaku has them in stock but more pricey. Enquired with jp-carparts as well, see what they say.
  9. Have you tried the Google Translate app on your smartphone of choice? It's apparently pretty good at translating from photos. That sucks. Have you asked for recommendations for a good mechanic where you are? Not that I know too much about it, but I would like to think that someone with a good work ethic is always going to return the car in a better state or be up front on why it isn't and what can be done about it. Or, if it is out of their league to be up front about that as well.
  10. Hey @Kinkstaah, what model is your sedan? ER34? I'm trying to work out whether I can fit the same door links on my WGNC34 Stagea. Going from EPC data it looks the same. On ER34 it is 80410M for the front door and 82430 for the rear door. Which matches the links on my WGNC34. Also, the 4 nuts are for 2 doors, right? So 8 nuts for 4 doors? Thanks! As an aside, there are some more details with the R35 part numbers in this thread.
  11. This was a first for me. It was nice meeting some of the members! Hopefully next time the weather works out better and there'll be a chance for more people to come. And also a bit more driving. If anyone is on the fence about joining or attending: Everyone is really nice and welcoming. It's also very much not exclusive to Skylines which is great. Jeep, Holden, Toyota, it was all covered and I wasn't expecting that. So overall much recommended. I didn't take any photos because I'm an egg. But Jen took some.
  12. Ooo, I like the white on gold. It looks really good! Is that a 260rs? My parents used to have foldable jumpseats in the trunk of their Volvo 740 wagon. Do you have something like that in mind? It just fit us kids and one of us would sit there facing out the back. 19 hour road trips on holidays. Fun times. Though not really to be honest. Purely space wise the Stagea should be quite similar. I found this picture on the net which looks about right for the Volvo. Don't have anything helpful to contribute though, sorry. Just curious what your plans are.
  13. Man, is this some kind of SEO spam thing again? If not, I apologise and shall excuse myself. - First post - check - Zero relation to Skylines - check - Odd formatting because of copy pasted content - check - A bunch of other forums with pretty much identical posts by first posters - check
  14. Is this still going ahead tomorrow? Happy to head out for some breakfast but I'm wondering how accessible the national park is at the moment. Looking at the Audley Weir webcam footage for example: https://straya.io/webcams/audley-road/ That's a big nope currently
  15. Hey there, funnily enough someone had the same question just yesterday. See @BK's response here:
  16. Hah, at the end of the day it is about automotive enthusiasm and not webdesign. And the forums are great! It's such a pleasant change from all the closed off platforms like facebook / insta / discord. In any case the membership pack was quick on my end. I think a few days to get it confirmed via email and maybe another week or so for the envelope in the mail. I guess the thing to keep in mind is that people are running things in their spare time so it might take a bit longer
  17. Hah, okay. Thanks! No worries at all! I didn't mean to put on pressure. I'm used to people requiring weeks of notice and I wasn't sure where to respond. So all good
  18. Hi all, I'd like to RSVP+1 for this one. Who should I get in touch with? So far I have sent an email and messaged Sam. Haven't heard back yet though so just raising it here again. Thanks, David
  19. Hey there, I feel your pain because I went through this the other day. Basically once you fill in all your details in the popup and select "Add To Cart" at the bottom you have to navigate to the checkout to pay for it. The only way to get there seems to be this little shopping cart icon that appears at the bottom right of the screen. It looks like the attached image. Otherwise, try this link as this is where it takes you: https://www.saunsw.com.au/cart Hope it helps. PS: I haven't had much luck with the email either. The forums are probably a better place to get a response
  20. Would you share the details of the man? Happy with a PM if it is not a post in public thing. I wouldn't mind getting a proper setup in the car. Thanks!
  21. Ah yes, good point! Though reading legalese English often feels as difficult as trying to read Japanese. This reads like something out of a fiction set in some kind of parallel universe. When was that? Is this because you are further out in the sticks and the police is not as busy? My expectation these days around here is that all that is provided by the police is a case number to pass to the insurance. I feel like I'd have to go full Bruce Willis and try to get it back myself. Am I being too cynical? I'm not saying ACAB, but my impression is there is too much crime and not enough resources to deal with it. And pressure coming from up high to generate revenue. I agree with Duncan, it does look legit. Some points from when I looked into it: - 3G is being phased out in the next years. AFAIK 2024. So 4G is the way to go. - You either provide your own sim or pay the company a monthly fee. The latter may be more expensive. It's not clear from the supercheap listing whether you can provide your own sim. - Telstra network was a must for me for best coverage. I don't know where people take stolen cars, but if it is in the bush I'd like it to have reception. The cheapest I found is Boost mobile at $20 a month. A lot of money compared Duncan's Aldi plan so may not be worth it. - Many companies are just reselling cheap chinese trackers with a sticker on them. - Trackers that are powered by the car battery don't last long if the car battery is disconnected. I remember it being an hour or so. - I bought a Mongoose asset tracker. This one is definitely just cheap chinese with a sticker. The app is shit, the website is shit and it is only 3G. But it does all it needs to do and works well enough. It makes me feel slightly sullied having paid them for it considering the amount of non-effort they have put into the product. So kind of would not recommend. But personally I like that it is standalone and not tied to the car battery.
  22. So what do you think of it? How does it compare to the piece of crap that was in before? In terms of sound and performance. I hate how most fan-powered appliances are loud and useless. Both in the kitchen and bathroom and it looks like this company has it all. Are you going to be recording a clip with it running? @Kinkstaahset a great example. Clip on the lapel mic, stand at the stove, bang some pots and pans and it'll give a good impression of what it's really like. I'm only half joking and genuinely curious whether this is good stuff. As an aside, schweigen means to be silent in German. As in not speaking.
  23. FWIW, there are more styles with a 'show more' button at the bottom. The UI is pretty bad on that page. The Import style is 305mm x 155mm front and back. But no silver.
  24. Hah, no it still differs. For example plate styles that have the NSW on top instead of on the side are less wide but taller. I think it also makes a difference whether it is hyphenated AA-BB-CC or AAB-BCC, which again may just come back to the plate style. I suggest to have a look through the options as they all mention dimensions. Whether any of it will make enough of a difference to fit, no idea.
  25. Nope, different styles come with different dimensions. For some it also depends on how many characters are on them.
