Oh, and as this confused me last time: there is no helmet or long clothing required for the cruise sessions. Only for the timed sessions. Not sure about the roll racing.
-
Doooo it! Yeah, I'm most looking forward to try the timed laps

Skyline’s charcoal canister !

How does temperature affect the vacuum in the fuel tank? I'm curious now. Because normally leaving the car in the sun is what makes it happen even when not driving the car and using fuel. But heat expands substances so shouldn't it be the opposite? -
Some thoughts on what I learned on this: - Think twice before drilling into your dash or A-pillar to mount your gauges. When you change your mind and take them out again it looks like ass. I have holes in my A-pillar where a gauge used to live and I hate it. The Stagea for example has one huge trim piece that covers both A- and B-pillars. It can be purchased but it's meant to be an absolute bitch to remove and put back again so I haven't dared. I wouldn't be surprised if you would have to pay drug money to buy trim pieces for an older GTR. - Go with something that can talk CAN bus. There are only limited spots to mount sensors. If it is on a gauge because it is important to monitor, it's important to the ECU as well for engine protection. - Having gauges stuck all over the place can raise extra attention by police when being pulled over. That said, especially at night I like the look of analogue gauges. Here's a photo of mine with Defi din gauges. Looks pretty much OEM. Also the mutilated A-pillar. The wideband lives in the glovebox so it's normally hidden.

Mistakes were made, my R34 Story
soviet_merlin replied to Kinkstaah's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hahaha. I bought those pedals as well for the wagon. And yes, they look good but they are f**ked. Was considering making a thread for it, because the resistance is different. So in the wagon the accelerator is now much lighter to press. I gave up on it. Jen ended up putting the covers on the brake and clutch pedal. Without whittling. No idea how she did it. At some point she was hanging upside down in the car. As in feet towards the headrests and head down in the footwell. She made it very clear that I better appreciate it and that they are not going to be swapped out for a very long time. I think it more likely that someone tried to fit the aluminium pedal covers, went "f**k this shit!" and put the rubber ones on instead. -
Viper Alarm System 855 xv 7142v fob
soviet_merlin replied to TreeFrog108's topic in Car Audio & Electrical
Up front: I don't know much about these things. But I was wondering, isn't the whole point of alarm systems that you can't disable or disarm them unless you have the keyfob? I would think that the valet button only works after disabling with the fob. Otherwise it would defeat the point, right? Personally I would consider reaching out to someone who works with this stuff. Possibly someone - who installs alarm systems - or who deals with lost key situations like a locksmith Surely this happens all the time -

MLR's Bogan cruise ship
soviet_merlin replied to The Bogan's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Haha, see how it goes! Good to know that it works out alright. Don't know if it has been that long, but I wouldn't be surprised. The cabin filters certainly looked like it when I replaced them. Will keep an eye on supercheapauto and wait for a sale. -

Which model of the bissell steam cleaner are you using? Is it one of those you can get at supercheapauto? I quite like the idea of doing that to get 20+ years of gunk out of the carpets in the car. Have been holding off though as I wasn't sure whether the "cheapy" ones would be any good. -
NZ R33 Long Term Build
soviet_merlin replied to R3N3's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Hah, and I didn't see yours when I was looking for some. Looks like it's a similar idea / design. It's one reason why I like reading the build threads here. Like for example the custom ashtray keypad mount you mentioned a few posts earlier went straight on the maybe-one-day-santa-list -

How are you mounting them? If you haven't made up your mind yet, there are some custom made brackets for sale on the forums that mount under the seat. The topic is a few years old but they still make them and I just received mine one or two weeks ago. Haven't put it in yet though. They have them in stock again now. See this post for details: -
Holy mother of downforce! Looking forward to seeing some action shots of the car with it fitted.

One more question: do you have an opinion on original spigot bushing versus spigot needle bearing? Via taarks the latter is described as "These needle bearings replace the stock brass spigot bush in the end of the crank that the gearbox input shaft goes into. The needle bearings last longer and put less stress on the gearbox and are also quieter." Looks like in the forums people recommend the original bushing but no mention why.

Hey folks, I'm looking at getting a new clutch and was wondering what you recommend to use for all the bits beside the actual clutch. To refresh it all whilst it's open. Do you get OEM? Or are there better aftermarket parts? From discussion with my mechanic this is what I'm mainly looking for: spigot bearing clutch fork clutch pivot ball flywheel flywheel bolts release bearing Striked through parts already come with the kit. This is for the pull type clutch on my 260awkw C34 Stagea. I'm getting a Nismo Super Coppermix Twin Plate. I like it to be somewhat future proof and it's my daily so driveability is important. Lots of topics on clutches on the forums but I didn't see much on the little bits around it. Thanks!
