  1. Ooo, thanks Duncan! I'll have a closer look at those options Don't want to derail Greg's thread too much. Maybe I'll do a separate thing or get in touch.
  2. How did you go about this? Was it the goal to do all the twisties or did you have to go somewhere anyway? I'm asking because we are going from Sydney to Canberra in a few months. Sitting for 3.5 hours on the highway seems like a nightmare as it brings up everything I don't like about the car. But I'm happy to spend double the time driving the scenic way. I'm wondering if there is a good way of finding the right roads to drive on. PS: I'm actually quite glad to hear that you still have the car! I was already getting a bit concerned because you didn't post anything for a while.
  3. Next time! You were a few cars in front of us in the twisties. All I could see was a glimpse of red every now and then. Otherwise it was just rumble and thunder in the distance when you put the pedal down. It certainly sounds the part!
  4. This was good fun! And great photos as usual Sam! A bit late to the party but here's a bunch of photos that Jen and Ronald took. We have to practice a bit more with those action shots, but we'll get there eventually. The auto focus on the phone seems to be messing up a fair bit. Maybe we take a proper camera next time.
  5. Ooo, nice to see you post on SAU! I did come across your parts just recently. Looking forward to see what you come up with in the future. I don't have anything on my wishlist in regards to Stagea parts currently but will follow this with interest.
  6. Interesting, I have been told the opposite and to avoid running a spare tyre in the front. And shuffle a good tyre from rear to front if necessary. Mostly because there is more weight in the front, more demand on it in corners and also in general when braking. It doesn't seem very safe to run a puny spare in the front when there is a lot riding on it.
  7. Ooo, thank you for mentioning this! The door strikers on my wagon have been bugging me since forever. But I didn't know what they were called and had no idea what to search for.
  8. Well at the very least you have the whole day to come up with a better excuse than that. Appalling 😛
  9. Yes, do it! I mean you probably have kid's birthday parties every other weekend now. This cruise comes up only once a year. And it heads off nice and early. (This is not parenting advice. I don't even have kids.)
  10. Finally. Been looking forward to this for weeks. @Dose Pipe Sutututu are you coming?
  11. Hah, there is nothing wrong with proper M cars but they are just way beyond my budget. Can't tempt me with what I can't possibly afford
  12. Been meaning to comment on this. Have been quite unfazed by Johnny's ongoing longing for an M3. But you are making me want to buy a BMW. Not to replace the Nissan but as a second car. Maybe one day and I'll be in touch to get your advice. So please keep this updated. Looking forward to see where it goes. You don't happen to have a recording of how different the shifting is after the tune? It sounds very promising.
  13. Good stuff, we'll be there
  14. Second that. Have their floor mats as well and am quite happy with them. I mean, they sell different fits for all combinations of AWD/RWD and AT/manual, how good is that.
  15. https://fitmint.com.au/collections/car-covers/products/r33-skyline-gtr-indoor-car-cover Disclaimer: I don't drive a 33 and I haven't ordered mine yet because I'm waiting for the next sale. From memory it was under $300 then. Possibly an odd recommendation but bear with me. I was talking to someone about their C34 and it was under a fitmint cover. It fit perfectly. None of that generic car shape rubbish. I asked them about it and they recommended it. They also happen to be a detailer by profession and they care about paint. They pulled it back because we were talking about the car and it seemed pretty soft. I didn't touch it myself though. But it's definitely not the shitty-cheap-bunnings-outdoor-tarp-material that some products try to sell. All in all it's on my shopping list but I'm not in a rush so I'm waiting for a deal. Maybe that helps
  16. Hang on, do you have a typo in there? 300kw is 400hp. I would think that even with AWD that's nowhere near 600hp at the engine. You are going to make me think I'm driving an almost 600hp car which I'm pretty confident I'm not. Not even on the internet 600hp is another step up. (Not disagreeing with the gist of your comment though)
  17. The docs for the Haltech CAN keypad mention that it runs on 1,000kbps, so 1,000,000. See attached. The closest setting from the analyser docs seems to be 1,228,800. Have you tried setting it to that? But yeah, doesn't look like there is a lot of documentation from Haltech. I'm impressed how quickly you got the adapter. I'm still waiting on mine.
  18. Can you keep it registered if it doesn't run? Or do you have a hard deadline to get it running again before the pink slip is due?
  19. Just a thought: do the settings match what is set on the Haltech? From what I understand baud rate, endianness and signedness need to be in sync as it determines the transfer speed and encoding. You mention 2,000,000 but your screenshot shows a CAN speed of 250kbps which is 250,000.
  20. Aaah, it's for the M35 Stagea. That makes more sense as it looks more like the Maxima at the time. Thanks! I was thinking of the C34 because OP has it listed in their profile. Clearly I didn't think this through.
  21. Is this a factory option? How does this fit into the dash layout? Do you not get the three gauges at the top and it is just climate control plus double DIN radio? Just curious. It looks cool though.
  22. Hmmm, I see. Fair enough. Haven't closely followed it but it feels like a lot of the Australian ones are older models. Also somewhat cheap cars and treated that way. I didn't realise they were actually making them until 2007 according to Wikipedia. I quite like the looks of this one below. The spoiler suits it! And it reads like it is owned by someone who cares about it. Would be interested to see what it drives like. Also how the 2.5L turbo compares to the 3.5L NA. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2002-nissan-stagea-autech-axis-nm35-auto-4wd/SSE-AD-14211882/ (Archive link as car has since sold: https://web.archive.org/web/20230205093612/https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2002-nissan-stagea-autech-axis-nm35-auto-4wd/SSE-AD-14211882 But thinking that you may get a car that is 5 years younger by going the import way I can see where you are coming from. Don't really have anything helpful to offer but looking forward to see how you go forward with this.
  23. Out of curiousity, why are you looking at importing as opposed to buying one in Australia? Whenever I look at Stageas for sale there seem to be a couple of M35s available as well. It would save all the import hassle and allow to actually look at the car in person. Don't have any import experience though so can't comment on it otherwise.
  24. Thanks for the link! Ordered one to have a bit of a play around. I like the idea of not permanently installing a head unit, but instead just being able to plug in a cheap phone or tablet to try out some stuff or to log data. Use a good suction cup mount and run it that way. And it can all be stowed away in the glove box when not needed. Ooo, good stuff! Nice, thanks for mentioning that! Looks like NSP has been supporting the Elites since at least end of 2021. https://www.haltech.com/news-events/nsp-for-elite-is-here/
