a much less ghetto-spec thing to do (if you have to do it at all) is just to get some aluminium pipe with an I.D similar to the (longer) hinge bolts, and cut two pieces to the length you want, and install it with a washer underneath the bonnet mounting points. just make sure the cuts are flush, mmmkay!
