  1. it has been retuned since they have been put in, but you're right, i'll double check with the tuner the dwell was adjusted.
  2. cheers mate, my tuner is fairly sure as well, but not having done it yet, can't give me a definite.
  3. just looking for ideas if anyone has been successful with a wasted spark setup on their engine, and what they went with? i'm currently running AU packs, std igniter etc, works ok, however since i'm pushing more power through, i've needed to gap to .45mm to reduce missing up high, once i've done that it runs fine. however i want to get it right, run it with a healthy 0.8mm gap. been looking at running msd commie packs, and possibly a msd igniter as well, however worried about whether with the nistune i'm able to achieve the correct dwell. and yes, i wanna stick with external pack setup, as a track car the ability to pull plugs in less than a minute is handy. cheers
  4. the other thing to remember with additives, is that even if you're not getting high oil temp readings, doesn't mean you don't have hot spots, especially with turbo's as their bearings get stupid hot, and some additives used in some of the street oils around, do actually go off from the heat in these heat spots and create build up etc which can cause turbo failure etc. once again, for the street, probably not a problem, but for the track with turbo's getting to crazy temps, even if your oil temp gauge isn't reading real high, doesn't mean you're in the clear.
  5. fair enough, yeh the w60 is understandable, i run the 20w60 ten tenths penrite "racing" which is designed for racing conditions, minimal additives and is 100% sheer free, penrite also have the "premium" range in the ten tenths, which is the brother range that is designed more for high performance street applications, it has similar viscosity's to edge, with high differences made with the introduction of additives like edge, good for street where the loads aren't too demanding, and cold start up is very important, however on the track, since there is no need for much start up protection, as it see's maybe a few cold starts a month, there is also no need for the additives which introduce complications at high load/temps.
  6. anyone had any success with replacing the springs for these wastegates, apparently the springs are discontinued from HKS and i need to replace my 24psi spring with the 18psi one. Anyone know if tial or something else shares a similar spring that could be used, or if they have any around the place could they let me know dimensions so i can compare? cheers
  7. you guys are f**king arseholes, kid just wants some advice and you guys just give him smart arse reply's. what you need to do mate, is angle grind off one of the runners (ideally #6), only one otherwise it will sound like shit, then chuck some exhaust putty up the remainder of the runner on the side that goes to the turbo, the more the better, you don't want it to leak. then say hello to your new screamer, straight out the engine, doesn't even get muffled by pesky piping or the wastegate itself, so sounds even better than external gate, will be killa.
  8. sorry for the noob question, but can wmi be used with e85? or is the ethanol's effect (being already 85% of the fuel) already large enough on the charge temps, that any additional water/meth would be negligible or is there another reason why you wouldn't?
  9. im using 45mm just for reference, and td06 20g on my rb20, with blitz duel solenoid ebc.
  10. my hks one has the wastegate coming off at a reverse angle, haven't had it on the dyno but doesn't look like it's spiking so far, and more importantly i doubt hks would have made them if they had such a huge inherent problem.
  11. Also have a T04E with a .50 comp, .82 turbine, high mount turbo with t3 flange HKS 25/35 - $1100 HKS 25/40 - $1200 both including all lines/elbows to bolt on directly Garrett T04E - $800 all are in great nick with minimal play! Located near mitcham, can post anywhere in Aus.
  12. no issues with heavy track use? at those kind of viscosity differences i'd be worried about additives and them breaking down over 100 degrees.
  13. awesome, been looking everywhere for them to put on my driftteks!!
  14. oh shit, now we're talking. could the plenum be making much of a difference? i hope to hell not as i don't see one of those sitting inside my budget any time soon.
