im not familiar with jet engines and jet turbines, i know they use one in the y2k jetbike, and they use em in helicopters and tanks n shit, just didnt know they were the same sorta thing, how do they do it in choppers and tanks and stuff?

yeah i would assume he means constantly revving it, not allowing it to idle, but dont hold it at the same revs all the time???

you can either use a micro fueler - a separete lil computer to control it, or a hobbs switch - a switch the sees pressure and closes two contacts, think of it as a boost activated relay. some people feed 12V straight to it but another way, which has more risks, but will give a better result, is to take the + off another injector and use that as the feed to the hobbs switch these are the two common ways, there may be more though

use a 1UZ, its a proven thing edit - i am not up to date with the nissan V8 tuning scene, they make work very well, point was heaps of people have turboed the 1uz, whereas the nissan seems to be more uncharted waters, not saying its a bad motor or anything

i'm no tuner but like to think i know a thing or two, i only skimmed it, but the biggest problem i see is ignition timing, and i wasn't convinced by that extra note at the end. they are working purely on theory by the sounds of it, theory doesnt allow for shit batches of fuel etc. for most things i think a self tuning ecu could work, with a wideband input etc, but where all the power is, is in ignition timing, knocking is probly the main thing to look for when tuning a motor. there is nothing mainstream atm that can MEASURE knock, there are sensors that can 'hear' it, and although they send out a signal, i dont think there is anything that can convert knock into a fixed value. now when ionization current technology becomes more mainstream, i think this could work better (if my understanding of ionization current is correct) -
pretty thick cast iron with a gaping hold in the back of it (where dump pipe normally goes/where thrust is generated) i rkn you could get heaps of pressure in there no worries. and turbos spin well past 100,000rpm on your car anyway, what you've mentioned isnt anything crazy

i was more reffering to fitting one into a bigger chassis to move people thrust isnt really a viable option for the street

would be interesting to know how much thrust it really puts out. my mates brother in law has got a propper model aircraft jet engine, and he had it bolted to a big heavy wooden table (the kind that takes a few people to move), and he started to spool it up one day, got to about 15% throttle i think it was and it started moving the table.... with two big blokes at the front of it trying to stop it moving. theres some pretty serious shit out there in relatively small packages.... only question is how to mount a gearbox to the back of one lol

i'm confused, why does everyone here say what a c*nt the truckie is? fair enough if your driving something that big with a bullbar on the front, but do you really believe he would smash into another car that hard intentionally? there are some f*ckheads out there in trucks but i've never met one (and i deal with heaps of these guys at work) who would intentionally slam another car. without asking them directly, i cant see why you'd risk your job doing something like that. most of em have done it their whole life, why would you go and smash your truck, potentially lose your current job and give yourself all that trouble finding another job just coz a car had its nose out 30-40cm?

i thought that was more an issue in GTR's? afaik they're pretty much the same box as GTS-t's, but doesnt seem to be as much of an issue?

zoomzoom, if you read over what i said again, i said the turbo moves the air, and when it hits the restriction, the pressure builds. i dont think turbos actually compress the air, they 'blow' alot of it, it has no place to go, so the pressure builds up. superchargers 'compress' the air before feeding it into the manifold. are you with me? yes its still pressurized air, at the end of the day its the same shit, but they both get there in different ways, and have been named accordingly, but the names they are given seem to be the exact opposite of what they are. thats how it works in my head anyway hackerX. read the turbocharger one again, it also calls the turbo a pump A Turbocharger, often called a turbo, is a small radial fan pump i think the wording on that site isnt the best what i didnt know was that the turbine actually compresses the air as it enters, never heard this theory before, even wiki says its a pump lol

a turbo moves alot of air, when that air has no place to go, pressure builds. superchagers squash air to generate pressure, then feed it into the motor

WHONXT has smashed one or two i think, but thats a 9sec car lauching hard on slicks. outside of that i've rarely heard of people smashing them. i'd say abuse is more an issue than torque.

R32 abuser, i dont see turbos as compressors, they move a shitload of air, air hits restriction (your motor not being able to swallow it) and this is what generates pressure, whereas superchargers actually compress the air before feeding it into the motor.

so, why have they been labelled as that, when in fact, they are the complete opposite. a turbo is actually a blower and superchargers are more litterally compressors (bar centrifugal, but they're gay anyway) so does anyone know why they have been incorrectly named so? and please dont turn this into a turbo vs. supercahrger thread, i dont care about your opinions of centrifugal chargers either lol cheers, Ben
