  1. yeah the reply of.... "ummm no, your in the same situation as him" shut that down. what they should have said was simply....... "LOL".
  2. You are all wrong. well troy is right, you are all flogging a dead horse. does anyone other than a guy competing in class based motorsport really care about this stuff. the real interest should be in how it drives, how it feels, what kind of sounds it makes, how much power and torque it makes and where and how it makes them. that's what's important to me. I couldn't give a shit if my rotary or piston engine was 1L 3L or bloody 30L, if it sounds good, goes good and runs reliably I'm happy. give it up. you will never agree.
  3. so you're saying the 4 VBs and battered sav I eat at trackday lunch time is a bad thing.... or? it certainly keeps the fluids up and as a bonus many a fast lap time can be had trying to finish a session quickly so I can have a slash.
  4. some are better than others but the cusco/safety 21 made ones are not too bad. the only bad bit is the ones they make that curve around the dash. ideally you want to get one of the ones that goes straight through the dash. 2 good reasons. 1 it's safer. and 2 it makes the cage less 'intrusive' especially around your right foot area and getting in and out etc.
  5. not sure on PI in november but I'll be doing something somewhere with it! probably will do as many days at oran park and mainly just looking forward to it being a bit more of a friendly street car. at the moment is super low, has race bucket, is loud, has 2way that chirps everywhere, clutch rattles like fark and is either on or off so take offs often involve a 'little' wheel spin. no AC etc. once those things are fixed it will me more enjoyable to drive for sure.
  6. it's not bad, but the front section of pipe is quite small. I would want bigger if you plan on those "big" turbos.
  7. I would have maybe gone the 270in and the 280ex. both 10.8
  8. they are dealer option packages. and as such some will have different bits depending on which option boxes the original customer ticked.
  9. yeah it's pretty bloody disappointing isn't it. it's making NSW a pretty unhappy place to live for a motorsport enthusiast. and oran park was such a great facility. on sunday when I was there, there was a huge event on the sth circuit, the Drift Nationals that had lots of competitors, trade stands and lots of FANS, there was also Kart racing on the nth circuit at the same time, and the AWD track was in use by buggy type things, and the rally track was in use too (the one behind the nth circuit). that's a lot of groups of people getting joy out of one facility at the same time. and should be lots of income for all parties involved. very sad it's going.
  10. well an update for my silvia. I'm taking some time off in the next couple of weeks to sort out a few little things on it. install some cams. going to go with greddy easy cam, 256 in 264 ex 10.5mm lift on both install exhaust tip extension. yes it sounds gay but currently exhaust doesn't extend past the uras bar and it's getting destroyed (fatz give me back my tip you carnt) get air con re-gassed. NEED AC! get diff backlash set properly (diff whine is annoying) raise height (yes it looks awesome low but the trust PEII exhaust is getting destroyed and I think it will handle better with some suspension travel) install some new seats, either 32 GTR or 34 GTR for street duty, will keep current race seat for track use install the Trust intercooler kit and piping I've had sitting around for it for ages. may swap out the walbro fuel pump for a nismo or sard (it seems ok, but I just have no faith in them, it would not have been my choice) may need to upgrade the nismo 555cc injectors to some blitz 850cc ones. especially if I go for an E85 tune. may swap out the HSD coil-overs for either some buddy club racing spec dampers or some cusco zero 2s. both are quite good. then get it tuned to about 22 or 23psi with the cams and new intercooler and piping hoping it will crack out a fat 250rwkw on pump 98. and if I'm keen I may get an E85 tune and go for 270 or 280. BIG LIST! but it's going to be so cool when finished. oh, and will get the front bumper repaired from where troy farked it... lol.
  11. yeah it was sunday just gone by. and yep and oran park.
  12. good stuff mate. it must be nice not having to run your own shop for a while. just collect that pay cheque instead of worrying about where the next one is coming from. hope you enjoy it there.
  13. how the fk could they let this happen. I might as well just forget about driving cars at all and start taking massive amounts of LSD and just sit in my room playing F1 on PS3. it's about as 'real' as it will get in the years to come...
  14. yeah it's a common problem for guys with long legs. you need to move the seat back which then means you are too far from the steering wheel for good control. the only solution unfortunately is to install an aftermarket steering wheel and boss kit and put a steering wheel spacer between the two. but if your car has a airbag steering wheel then it's illegal to remove it. of course lots of things are illegal but just be aware of what you are doing and the potential safety concerns.
  15. good to see you getting stuck in mate. I'd be a bit worried about the random clips coming out of the gearbox drain though. that could spell problems! the car has grown on me a little I have to admit.

  17. just post em up.
  18. lol, I'm not that bad. but what shits me is people using words in place of the right word. like no for know. or breaks for brakes. or in this case wreckless for reckless. it's a curse....
  19. seriously guys who gives a fk? the question was why do rotaries suck and the correct answer is they don't suck. they are a great engine. and just like any engine they need to be fitted to an appropriate car to really shine. I would be one of the few people here who've actually owned and driven a number of GTRs from old 32s to whiz bang 35s and a 2001 FD 13BTT and I can tell you comparing any of them is a waste of time. they are all good. they all have different strengths and weaknesses and I can tell you a couple of "facts" from my own experience and from the way I drive. My rotor was pretty thirsty. part of it may have to do with the fact that it has a tiny primary turbo which is on boost from about 2,000rpm and I like to have fun when I drive. the 35 was pretty thirsty too, but they may have more to do with the cars weight, it's a good 500kg more than the RX7, that is staggering in itself. my dead standard R34 GTR was not too bad. it's about 250kg heavier than the FD RZ I had and about 250kg lighter than the R35 and it was still not excellent. I don't get why you have to hate one engine to like the other? there are differences between them. I don't give a f**k if the eccentric shaft multiplies the rotor RPM by a factor of 3. some girls may think my shaft is eccentric too but they have the decency not to laugh at it. there is no easy way to express the properties of a rotor in the same way as a conventional 4 stroke combustion engine. because (read carefully) THEY ARE NOT THE SAME! just accept that they are different. and yes it's a bit off that mazda try to express their stats in the same way as conventional engines, but who cares. what should they have done? said, our wankel rotary (well elliptical) engine is a sort of 1.3-3.9l engine, and puts out up to 3,000 wanks per mintue which is roughly equal to 9.000rpm due to the nature of our eccentric shaft. please buy one. they are a good motor but do need a lot of looking after if you want one to live, and I wouldn't rush out and stick on in my GTR or in my silvia, but it worked damn well in the FD RX7 that mine came in, just like the SR20 works damn well in the silvia and the VR38 does in the R35. in all cases engine and car are made to work well in harmony. and they do. FD RX7 with it's stupid wankel engine. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up.
  20. anyway, back to the topic at hand. those 205/16s would go very nicely on a GTI-R pulsar, or a integra Type R (they may come with 17s standard though), MX5 perfect (looks at Chris), most models of Civic (and there are plenty of hot ones at the track these days), check out forums like that and you may find a home, or chuck them on ebay. could be a winner there.
  21. out of interest I just rang him. he has nothing in 16s at all. and in 17s has just one set which is $400 for a set of used cum-hos 235/40/17... he may have lots of stuff in small sizes but his stock and prices on used 17s and 16s hasn't been good for years. obviously stock goes up and down, but years ago when no-one wanted the stuff his prices were not bad and sometimes he actually did have good stuff but these days most of the stuff is long past it's best heat cycle wise even though they may still have tread and for what you're getting it's not good value. well at least not in 16/16/18 inch sizes.
  22. I have not seem him with any GOOD used tyres in 235/245 or 255 17s for a long time. and his prices just kept going up and up for tyres he gets for free. 5 years ago he used to have good tyres. but i haven't seen any decent stuff in 17inch there for a looong time, and most he did have were badly heat cycled A048s.
  23. just cause you haven't seen me doesn't mean I haven't been out there. driven R35 at oran GP and PI just this year, throw a few other fancy ones in there too inc a ford GT. ran the silvia at PI last year an OP as well. did eastern creek about 6 months ago too... is that enough?
  24. it was a good event. how good was it to see that poof mackie battling for 3rd place! his first run in that battle was very tight too and I reckon a good one on his leading run would have got him 3rd but the ol mechanical gremlin popped up at exactly the wrong moment. tough luck dan. I hope me yelling at you when you were on the start line wasn't distracting at all....
  25. great write up but I wish they had spelt reckless correctly. call me a wanker but spelling mistakes in journalism do annoy me! lol. they do make some very valid points. particularly about how the FIA is all over the bloody shop with ze punishment and it's now far beyond being funny. how sad that Jr is a homo. considering the amount of chicks he'd be able to pull it's a waste of a perfectly good wanger. that's enough to ban him right there.
