yeah they still have tread just the same as normal tires, just none of it has been cut away to make funny patterns. I was seriously considering buying your slicks too mate, but at 205 they are pretty narrow for a silvia with 1200kg+ driver and 200+rwkw that's all that held me back. if they were 235 or so I'd have been in for sure. if your RE55s were 235s or something you may find yourself going backwards in going to a narrower slicks as 205 is quite a small tyre on a car with that much weight and power.

yeah it's bullshit in a number of ways. and roy is right. pickit is a double f**kup. no.1 he never should have agreed to crash to fix a race in the first place. and no.2 after doing it he then goes and dobs on everyone. what a fking retard. the day he drives in F1 again is the day I can bend between my legs and give myself a rim job. nice job at wrecking (well further wrecking) your F1 career you idiot. you were already doing a good job with sub par driving and constant whining but this has definitely sealed your fate. the whole non-penalty on renault is just bullshit so instead they just fk flavio as hard as they can. can't say he didn't deserve some pretty harsh punishment though. he is clearly as dodgey as a $3 note.

yeah if you haven't been there before, and with your pace at EC and OP GP I'd say aim to break a 50. anything better will be gravy and after a couple of goes you should be down the 48s or so like dundan says. not that he'd know. he does 1:20 on the bloody nth circuit on his 50cc scooter...

should have kept your weds then you homo. I still have mine. :D and they are the super duper 17X9 +18 ones. -
the money the get these days really is obscene. I mean kimi is a great bloke. love the guy. and it's a full on job, consumes your whole lift, and you don't get a 4 year degree to get it, you get racing every weekend from when you're 5 years old in karts till your 25 in F3 and even then you have probably a 1 in 10,000 shot at it. but fck me dead the money they get for what is a great job is just not in touch with reality.

I have been to and once driven around amaroo in 97. and that's it for me too. lol, my favourite would have to be Gnoo Blas! lol. http://www.the-fastlane.co.uk/racingcircui...a/GnooBlas.html awesome name, and it's 6kms long and look and the straight!!! it would be 300km+ surely in anything decently powerful. and the rest of it is mostly one big long giant fast corner with a few hairpins. love it. -

!!!! someone agrees with me. I'm shocked. don't worry I won't let it go to my head. nice vid harry. nice driving too and demonstrates the technique well. you would be hard pressed to catch at least one of those 'moments' if your hands had been together on the wheel. anyway, very nice vid mate. taming the beast! it really does want to slide. lol, front end mid corner, rear end corner exit! can you fit 235s on the front too? that may help with the understeer a bit but I guess it's just one of those things that needs dialling out with set-up/suspension work. my silvia is a bit like that too and it's set-up is fairly drift biased with some cheap hard as fk coil-overs, but itss getting there too. now if only I could drive as well as I talk..... -
Os Giken Cross Gear Set
Beer Baron replied to LedZepLen's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
hellical cut gears with slightly more agressive (straighter) angle. and it's still synchro engagement (in fact still uses the factory synchros). they are quite good but like all boxes not indestructible. -

harnesses with stock seats help a bit with movement but they are dangerous. particularly if you back it into a wall as you will find the seat back snaps very easily and you are now sitting in the backseat! or where the back seat used to be. or squered by something. in other accidents as well the back can snap and the belts only stop you going fowards, any other type of accident and it could be bad. having said that the stock belt is not really better but at least it's not putting downward pressure on the seat back at all. definitely make a seat the next thing when budget allows. not just to improve times and feel, but it's a massive improvement in safety over 20yo standard seats... -

mark and russ are running coote on the R34 too, and love 'em. I should say though they are a long way from off the shelf. both in set-up and design, plus they had murray spend a day with the car helping with set-up. so I'm not sure how it reflects on his off the shelf skyline kits. -

I never knew my RX7 was a 3.9 litre elliptical engine produced 230rwkw at 3,000rpm. first turbo must be kicking in at 800rpm and second one at 1800rpm holding strong to the 3,000 range. I like engines. I like my RX7s 13BTT, I like the SR20 in my silvia and I love the RB26s in my GTR. hey the VR38TT in my R35 was pretty kick ass too. getting an EP3 civic type R soon and I love the 2litre 4 pot in them too. I guess I just like engines. they all have their strong and weak points. my 13b would possibly break if I look at it the wrong way. so will my RB26. the SR20 don't like too much revs and may decide to break rocker arms just to piss me off. the 13b and the RB26 drinks fuel like it's zohan drinking a fizzy bubbler the NA EP3s motor lacks that fat midrange my turbocharged motors have. the VR38 is just too good at what it does and in some ways that's depressing too. I quite like the whateverthefk engine is in my nissan atlas truck too. it makes a massive 98kw but has some giant torque figure and for it's purpose it's perfect. and it's a 4.2l 4 cylinder and it has a redline of about 3,000 too. don't think it works the same as a 3.9l 3,000rpm rotor though....

ok, spend one day travelling around on the yamanote line. go to harajuku and go to the meiji-jinguemae shrine which is right next to the station. it's one of my favourite places in tokyo, very tranquil and good for the soul. then maybe walk down through harajuku and omote sando and do some shopping, check out kiddy land if you want some stuffed toys for your gf, have some lunch, then head to ebisu station and check out ebisu and the beer museum there, then by now afternoon head to shinjuku. marvel at the foot traffic at the east exit. busiest train station in the world. if you want any electronics, camera gear etc get it hear from yodabashi or sakuraya, cheaper than akihabara in my experience, check out shonben yokocho (piss alley) near west exit and get some yakitori and beer there. it's pretty cool though most places in there now are run by koreans masquerading as japanese for tourists. d'oh! then finish the night off in roppongi. get the tokyo metro there from shinjuku. hit some bars first, try heartland bar to see where super cool american investment bankers etc go for after work drinks, then head to TGI Fridays for a snack, before hitting some clubs (and there are many in roppongi). check out Don Quijote aka donki in roppongi too, try to get there around midnight for the fish feeding. it's pretty out there, they feed small pet size goldfish to the giant koi! if you get to roppongi early enough, or go there twice also head down to tokyo tower and check out the view. day 2 sleep in, you will need to. if there are any tours you want to do, do them today. otherwise I would head to akihabara for a browse around and lunch/snack in a maid cafe. very unique japanese. try and eat as much japanese food as you can. it's tough in 3 days, as you only have so many meals to pack in. don't waste any of them on macdonalds, but if you must at least get an ebi fillet o (prawn burger) or a terriyaki burger, or if you just have burger hunger find a MOS burger. you should be trying a ramen bar (get some nice miso ramen, shio ramen, negi ramen the list is endless and some gyoza and a beer) also try a tempura-ya (specialist tempura place), try a shabu-shabu place or yakiniku (both favourites of mine). if you want to do some car stuff do it on day 2, go to a super autobacs or nismo omori, or nissan gallery in ginza, check out ginza anyway. finish off this night with a nice dinner somewhere (maybe try a top shelf sushi place) and then head to the Shinjuku Park Hyatt for either peak bar or new york bar. amazing views from either one, new york bar is a little higher and was the bar in lost in translation, but I prefer the rice snacks at the peak lounge. whichever one you go to make sure you get the whiskey sampler. you get 3 high quality japanese whiskeys from different regions all matched with spring water from the same region and paired with a unique japanese snack. very nice. day 3 get up at like 4am to get out to the tsukiji fish market early enough. you really do want to get there at or before 5. then maybe re-visit any places you really want to go back to, do some last minute shopping and that's about all I can pack into a 3 day trip.

R34 Disc Rotor Gaurd Removal
Beer Baron replied to AYW550's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yep, that's the way to go. easy as pie. about 5 min each one. -
no power steering is your problem. why on earth was it removed? it will make things harder not easier on the circuit as well as on the street. look at even top level circuit GTRs and GTSTs they almost all retain power steering. I cannot think of one successful drift or circuit GTR or GTST off the top of my head that has removed their power steering.... recently when we were doing tyre testing with the hi-octane/RGM/Advan R34 time attack GTR we had power steering issues. after 1 hot lap it was boiling the PS fluid we think due to the reservoir tank design and without power steering the car was practically undrivable and mark, the driver, can drive the wheels off just about anything.

Track Suspension...best Coil Over Kits!
Beer Baron replied to mrtzila's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
yeah if you were paying $8000 for a set of flag Rs then sure you'd be mad not to take that $8K to murray and see what he can do for you. I would say for guys with $10K burning a hole in their suspension budget that MCA is probably the best track suspension on a dollar/performance/service ratio. but i paid no where near $8K for those ohlins, let's halve that figure, and then go down from there... they might be "$8000" shocks but they didn't cost me $8000.... but I do agree it's not relevant to anyone else what I paid. but they are still good gear. savman, I find at the track I am more fine tuning with the top adjusters but the bottom ones are far enough from disk to get to without burning yourself. if in doubt.... wear gloves! I most definitely do not adjust them anywhere near as much as I should. next time the car is up and running i will take them to bilstein, put them on their shock dyno and get paul to give me some good base settings to start with for various springs and tracks. -

agreed you do sound like a tosser. hehe. nah you're right, it's even harder to critique from where i'm sitting on a rock with a greasy stick squarely up my dogs arse! I felt the same, after I posted that stuff it made me sound like a bit of a wanker. but the real improvements will come with good seat and harness. once you have those you may find you drive completely differently out of the box. the first time you get out onto the track in a proper race seat and 4 point (6 point better) 3 inch harness you will be amazed and what a different feeling it is. your bum knows what the car is doing and your body stays in one place. you literally feel like you're driving the car with fingertips and toes. after that you'll be spoilt, everytime you get out on a track with a road car seat and belt you'll be reminded of how awful it is! -
agreed, they are shithouse. It's almost like they are watching delayed telecast their calls are that slow. then I realise it's just their brains that are slow and they take some time to understand what their peepers are lookin at. I can now comfortably tune them out!

Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
Beer Baron replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
lol, the ol milk crate. same as tets except he uses a wedge of wood instead of the fancy plastic wedge they have at HKS, and he does wear a paper mask. the amount of alloy dust that comes out is amazing. lots of material removed and you want none of it in your lungs. tets is covered in it after a good porting session, in his ears etc. d'oh! -
