Front End Exhaust Recommendations
Beer Baron replied to LotusGTR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
32 and 33 dumps are the same. 34 dumps are bigger and are stainless. good budget upgrade. personally I've now used tomei dumps on about 4 GTRs of mine and loved them every time. they cost money but you do it once and they're done. for front pipes my favourite is the current biggest HKS stainless front pipes which are a true twin 70mm ID (not OD) front pipe which have the flanges welded on the inside, gives a lovely smooth entry to the pipe and come out in a single 85-90mmID (i forget exactly) pipe. they all fit together and work together nicely. once out of the turbo exhaust outlet you want to allow the gas to expand as much as possible as quick as possible so big dumps and front pipes do make sense. as to whether or not they are worth it on $ per kw basis only the user can answer that. but they definitely gave me better spool up time as well. -
got your message at about 2am. thanks. give me a call and I'll lay it out for y'all to play it out.

I couldn't agree more. I'm with you little buddy. button is going to spend a year getting spanked by hamilton. which is quite embarrassing. and they are both going to be spanked by webber. go webber. is kimi really without a seat now? that sucks. I know he has been bored as fck this last few years but god damn on that 1 in 5 races where he has a crack he is good to watch, and his interviews cannot be beaten.
-
hehe, in my eyes saying button is hamilton esque is not only accurate but it's about the biggest insult you could through at a bloke. they both fell arse backwards into their WDCs. buttons was won in the first 10 races when their car was miles better than anything else. just like hamiltons was. hamilton then spent the next part of the season trying hard to lose, button at least had some luck and kept it going. but I agree with roy, I would have loved to have seen webber and button together at williams. button is completely not interested in anything but an A1 quality car, where as webber will hammer the ring off it for 10th place if he has to. when have we ever seen any effort out of button except when the car is working. it took webber 5 years of shit cars to even start to look a bit down hearted... lol.

Extreme Turbo Manifolds Or 6boost
Beer Baron replied to GTR--J's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
honestly 6boost and ETM are probably the 2 best known dedicated manifold builders in aus and both make great product. I have more first hand experience with 6 boost manifolds but I don't have anything bad to say about ETMs ones either. call them both and see which one you like the sound of most. or maybe just flip a coin. you will get a good result out of either one. -
nice to see you the other day btw. you should have stopped ya carnt!!

Importing From The Uk
Beer Baron replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
troy, it's not really any different than importing one from japan. add shipping (probably around $1500-$1800 roro), 5% duty, 10% GST, few hundred for customs clearance, AQIS inspection, cleaning etc. then compliance around $2000-$2500 depending on what it is exactly and where you get it done and then you're away. -
you clown! do we need to have a talk...?
-
could not agree more. button has showed yet again that he cares a lot more about cash than he does about loyalty or about winning. he's used his luck with BGP to get the big pesos for a few years at maclaren which will go well until they realise he is no better or worse than any of the top dozen drivers in F1. maybe he'll look good on their Tag watch ads which should in part make up for any deficiency in the car.
-
yeah the aero definitely works. it's certainly been put to the test at 320km/h! mark was very happy with the amount of aero grip the body and wing were generating and drag can't be too bad either as it's getting a fair old whack of pace both up mountain straight and back down conrod...
-
good to see you getting out there in my old humble 32. hope she's still treating you well mate. it was such a neat car when I owned it so hopefully it will keep on trucking. pretty good pace you are cracking too and mighty close to a 30 which is very respectable pace in anyones book. oil cooling is always a big one for GTRs. what are you running now?
-
awesome! simply awesome. I have a present for you mark too. and russ nothing for you cause you didn't come first. hehe. ok, I'll find a consolation prize for you. think of a car that started out as a used, 10 year old, stock 34 GTR road car. was then lovingly built mostly by mark and russ and their friends and family with specialist help and bits where needed and it's now pulling 320km/h down conrod (and holding together mind you, no 1 lap grenade engine with 5 spares in the pantec.....) and running such great times at tracks all round the country. and it was built with their own money, hardwork, and sweat. As I told mark the first time I saw it all together it's pretty much the coolest GTR I have EVER seen and I've seen all the fancy ass ones in japan etc too from saurus, to mines, to m-speed and none of them put mark and russ's car in the shade. that's for damn sure. well done again. I only wish I was there!

Show Me Your Racing Machines
Beer Baron replied to screamin''s topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
nice work dundan! 1:48 in your car with what power etc it has is damn good mate. and quicker than neils radical! that is a big surprise for me. I know his isn't the latest one etc but they are still bloody quick so you must have been peddling your car pretty well. -
can it be true that webber future for 2010 is more certain that buttons or kimi's. how did this happen!?! go webber. WDC for 2010. yeah baby..... ps, there must be toxic fumes in here.
-
yeah it;s close enough. the stock gauge is pretty crap. very slow to react and not always spot on. buy a 'real' oil pressure gauge and you'll get a shock when you see how quickly and drastically pressure changes with RPM...

people talk alot about the nitto clean record of no failures but to be fair N1 pumps have been on sale for nearly 20 years, Jun for about 13 or so and most of the other jap pumps at least 10. reimax (reinik) over 15 years too. so you would expect in that time some would get f**ked and quite possibly due to user or installer error not necessarily due to pump fault. though I'd wager there were/are faulty pump as well. nitto pumps have been on sale about 1 or 2 years and have sold no doubt much, much, much less than any of the others so it would make sense there are less (apparently none) failures. I'm not saying they are not a great pump. but saying we've had no failures sounds impressive, but if you've only sold 100 of them then it looks less so. if you've sold 10s of thousands like the nissan N1 pumps then it will be remarkable!! I'm still holding out for the splined gears. the nitto pump is a very viable option and seems good value too. other than that I'm still a fan of the reimax gears in your old N1 housing or stock housing.

what will you do for me dave if I quickly steal that inlet next time i'm near one? I don't think nismo will give me one for love or money. and i've given them both over the years and they've given me some nice shit, but GT engine might push it! hope you get some inspiration from the pics though.
-
oh mumma! nice pump dave. it will be a winner for sure.

my advice, the jap brands (basically HKS or trust) are excellent. and whilst expensive are actually not bad value for money when you add together what you actually get. in a trust GTR kit you get: good quality oil cooler (no swarf inside it like the cheap chinese ones are full of, good design and manufacture and the fittings are well brazed and wont snap off). quality earls lines (all cut to the right length and with fittings assembled) chinese ones have generic length lines which are always way too long and have crimped on fittings, the trust ones have proper early fittings (again try pricing up all those, and the time needed to cut the hoses and assemble the fittings properly) they come with GTR specific ducting so you can fit it nicely in the passenger side brake duct and have it properly ducted so it will actually get good airflow (sitting one behind the intercooler and in front of the radiator is a bad idea, it will be getting bugger all clean, cool air). all you need to do is vent the inner guard that's behind it so the air can escape into the wheel well are (so air flows THROUGH the core, not just onto the face and then around it like a brick wall. they come with high quality adapter for the engine block which has fittings for temp and pressure sensors. they comes with high quality remote filter mount which also has more space for temp and pressure sensors (i mounted my defi oil pres and oil temp sensors here) and it has a built in thermostat so on the street oil will still get up to temp quickly. when you look at all the kits side by side the price of the trust or HKS kits quickly becomes justified to me. especially on a GTR. they need a good one, and need it mounted/installed properly. if you can't afford new then consider a used trust kit just try to ensure it's not from a car that died of an engine failure (as it's likely full of bearing material etc that can wreck your car).

Installing New Fuel Pump. Almost Done
Beer Baron replied to l_uk3y's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
just make sure you did secure the pump to the bracket inside the tank. otherwise you are going to get fuel surge issues and possibly damaged/dead pump eventually. -

Track Suspension...best Coil Over Kits!
Beer Baron replied to mrtzila's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
well if they perform as well as the box is made then you'll be on a winner. best coil-over packaging i've seen. +1 point for them. lol. -
trulli sucks and you know it troy. don't make me hit you.
-
yeah good choice! go the warmed over pommy GTST and fang that for a few weeks. will cost the same as a hire car. at say $100 a day you'll be up over $3K in hire care costs anyway and have nothing at the end of it and be driving some rubbish for 5 weeks. buy the GTST, enjoy it for a month or so, then either sell it and you'll still be in front.
