Sard 700s Or Nismo 600s For Rb26
Beer Baron replied to full_stick's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
no they don't mate. you are thinking of RB25 stuff or something else all together. sard 700cc injectors are direct fit to the RB26 rail and inlet injector bosses. my only advice is buy new top and bottom o-rings. personally I have used both the nismo 600cc injectors and the sard 700cc injectors. both in GTRs of mine and both with fairly similar set-ups and power goals and noticed no real difference between them. if you are sure the 600s will provide enough fuel for you then by all means use them, but the sards are cheaper and flow more so there is a small advantage going that way I guess. -
yeah go webber! nice work on the burnout too, I can't believe the camera just panned away as it was happening too. what are they illegal like booze is over there? vets certainly gave him a nice squeeze into T1 on the opening lap but webz managed to hold on. shame I had some money on webber for the win at 9:1 but luckily I took a back-up position on vettel to win at 5:1 which will get my money back. I also had some decent bucks on rosberg to make the top 8 which was paying 3:1. rosberg you cnt. just one more place!! argh, had webber made 1 more place and rosberg 1 more I would have been cheering. the GF had some cash on rubes to make a podium too and from memory it's odds were not bad, maybe 3:1 or so. anyway, webber drove well to keep button behind him. in those last few laps webber was getting some mighty sideways action out of the slower corners. and lots of bum wagging under hard braking into them too so he did really well to keep it straight and nice and wide! and how sideways did he get into turn 1 when he clashed with rubes!! biiig moment that one, he did well to crank on enough lock and keep his boot down to hold it together and keep the place. apart from the first few laps and the last few it seemed pretty boring (i dozed off a few times). but that's no surprise it's a tilke designed track and is just as boring as the rest of them. it sounds like webber is confirmed at RBR next year which is a good thing. he was narrowly beaten by vettel this year, let's hope he can reverse it next year. it's heartening to see that that margain between button and rubes is double that between vettel and webber. you certainly wouldn't say vettel pounded him, it was very close between the two RBR guys, both had their mistakes, and they bad luck and some great drives as well.

Civic Type R
Beer Baron replied to Toda1's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hmm, thanks mate. damn, that pretty much cements my want for a 04/05 model then. I was just starting to talk myself into settling for an 02 and saving some bucks but it seems the 04 is worth the extra dough. and I'd say as they get older the gap between 02s and 04s will only widen. -
fantastic mate. what dazmo said: "an RB28 with Vcam and set of HKS 25/30 or GTRS would be the ultimate combo in my personal opinion." hold true in my opinion too, especially for a road GTR. having driven build HKS 2.8 with v-cam and a T04Z and one with 2530s but no v-cam I think the 2530s, 2.8 and v-cam would be perfect. get rid of the lack of low down punch that all the RBs suffer from. the car looks and goes great now. and once the motor is run in properly and you give it 25psi and a touch up in the tune now doubt it will be near enough to 450kw atw which is a very serious bit of power in a street GTR. to be honest I know exactly what you mean about the 35 thing and in a lot of ways you're right. building cars like this is never the smart choice but the journey is as much fun as the end product sometimes and you can't forget that. remember getting all those little parcels of goodies piece by piece? it's like having christmas once a week at some points in a build. the downside of course is it's easy to spend well into the $100 thousand range on a car like this and many into $200K+. and we then wonder "was it worth it?" well it's the kind of thing you do because it's what you wanted. if you'd saved your money and bought a 35 you wouldn't have gotten this out of your system! and it's a great package.

Kel's Super Turbo Super Build
Beer Baron replied to Kel's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
lol, that could be a probrem dundan. man I still hate you both. I have always wanted the super turbs. for years and years. I tried to find a good one to bring in under the 15yo rule back in the day but never could. and there is probably only a dozen or so in the whole of aus. anyway, having now seen the car I can confirm it is as cool as it looks in pics and yes duncan looks funny as hell driving it. lol. yeah 80s nissan was all about the box shape. they love the box. so do i. -
prado? what's next? g-string and a convertible VW beetle? so camp.... so very camp.
-
he's using ikeya formula lower control arms (which come with castor rods too) and ikeya formula tie rod ends and cusco upper control arms. that's it as far as front end alignment bits go. the combo of the LCAs and the tie rod ends enables lots of lock. more than needed even for circuit stuff.

one last thing. how good was brazil! webber's the man!
-
but he did win the WDC on luck. on that last lap it looked like massa had won it when he crossed the line. lewis then had some amazing "luck" and sealed it on the last corner of the last lap of the last race somehow. so his was basically a combination of luck, and the best car in the grid that year. sure he's not a hack, but he's not exactly an F1 superman in my books. he made so many rookie mistakes that year. in the car he had he should have one the championship by about 30 points not half a bees dick!
-
well at least now you won't have to wonder if the FIA really do favour ferarri.... lol looks like it really is L'Ferrari International Assistance.... d'oh!

king oath! the williams was a crap car with a half decent engine (when it wasn't blowing up). knowing your car will only last about 2 out of 3 races I guess tends to make you push a bit too hard in the times when it's actually running so you could forgive a few f**kups on his part too. the jag was rubbish too. it was amazing seeing him put that on the front row in qualifying twice. he was (is) a master at the old 1 lap qualifying format. not many drivers are able to do that, go out there and put it all on the line for that 1 lap and be instantly on it. the only decent car webber has had is the one he's in now and he managed 2 wins and a number of podiums and came 4th in the WDC to be beaten by only the 2 better cars (over the whole of the season) and his team-mate (not by much). he's proven he has the stuff. no doubt. go webber!

pretty cool little car for the money. would be good fun at track days. like a few guys said spares could be a problem, it would probably be worth trying to get a mold made of the bodywork before racing it just in case.... but apart from that innovation could probably fix most problems.

Importing A S13 Drifta Need Info
Beer Baron replied to Deano 1's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
yeah the freight alone costs more than that from japan, then you have buyer fee in japan, auction fee, fright from auction to shipping yard, customs clearance in aus (say $350 all up), 10% GST and 10% duty plus AQIS cleaning of $250, plus you MUST HAVE a race car import approval from DOTARS. check their website for what is needed to obtain the import approval to import a race use car to aus. basically even if you get given a car for free in japan it will cost about $10K to import and have on the road, and about $7K to have here as a race car. those are just basically the fixed costs of importing a car, and that's if you paid $0 for it. so add purchase price to that figure. importing really cheap cars is hardly worth it. you spend so much on frieght, fees etc. more than the car even cost you. you might as well buy a cheap one here and chances are you can get one already registered and complied. so you can drive it on the road and even re-sell it in the future easily. -
that explains things very well and sums things up quite nicely I think. personally though I still don't give a crap. engine size is not important to me. I have owned vehicles from .13cc to 4.2L and some small engines were better than some bigger ones and vice versa. there are so many factors that go into a good engine package, materials, quality of manufacture, ancillaries (turbo? super charger? NA?), and the list goes on.

nice going mate. keep plugging away. nearly there.

32 Gtr Suspension Woes!
Beer Baron replied to BeEnAr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
if you need some new fronts get the RE001 Adrenalines for the front too, 235/45/17. you need all the front end grip you can get, and having same size and brand means you can easily rotate them around to get max life out of them. most of the other ones are rubbish. 1. Maxxis MAV-1 - $140ea Rubbish 2. Kumho KU37 - $155 dunno 3. Bridgestone ER300 Turanza - $235 Rubbish 4. GoodYear Regatta - $179 Rubbish 5. Nankang - $115 absolute shithouse 6. Kumho KU31 - 145 not sure, but think these were rubbish 7. Pirelli Dragon - $175 rubbish too for a GTR, ok on your corolla or whatever. -
farking big hit. would really have to inspect in person to see if it's repairable or not but I highly doubt it. and no, it's definitely not the first R35 panel damage/crash in aus. I can think of one nearly a year ago now.

No Pm Response From Moderators
Beer Baron replied to sigsputnik's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
well no response can be bad but people do miss pms etc. anyway the answer is no body can edit their posts/threads in forsale any more as there was abuse of this feature by scammers. they have a thread. then later edit out ph number, prices, everything and people can't figure out what happened or track them down easily. so for the protection of users the edit feature was 'modified'. now you can only edit a post for something like 2 hours after it's made. after that it's set in stone so you can't go back and change what was said etc. I know it can be a pain in big FS threads where you want to update stuff as sold etc, but due to scammer abuse, this is the small inconvenience we have to live with. if you really do need something changed (mistake etc) then pm an admin and they will (should) do it for you, providing the request is within the rules and is reasonable. -
Show Me Your Racing Machines
Beer Baron replied to screamin''s topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
yeah me too. that's how the car got into the garage in the first place!!! lol. me dissasembling it half pissed, then decided it needed a mega engine (instead of a $300 fix) and it just got out of control from there. the problem has been too many other good cars to drive in between. but now I've scaled back and it's time this 32 learnt to fly again. -
Civic Type R
Beer Baron replied to Toda1's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
hmm, so even if it was for you to keep and drive you wouldn't splash out for the later model? my quick survey of local NSW importers agrees with you that for sales/profit wise you are best off with an 02 as bugger all people will know the difference here and even less are willing to pay $3700 more for a car that is basically the same thing with a few cosmetic differnces (and of course newer/less kms). buuutttt. I just can't help myself, I want the newer seats and I really do like the newer look front bar. I think maybe they have different lights too? does anyone actually know all the updates on the 04 model? I'd love to get a list if anyone knows what they all are. looks like I will keep an open mind as always and buy a good car, not a specific car. limiting yourself means less chance of getting a good car/bargain. so if a good 02 comes up at a good price I'll just have to live with it. thanks, always good to chat.
