sadly having it done up too tight it still far better than the ones that are not done up tight enough and come undone!!! d'oh! happens a lot and is sometimes an easy fix and sometimes will cost you an engine.

Civic Type R

and a follow up question if I may, to all and sundry. who thinks it's worth the extra 300,000yen or so for an 04 model over an 02 model? judging by the stock in aus I would say most importers don't think it's worth it. I guess given the average customer wouldn't know there was an update for the 04 models then they probably wont pay any extra for them. but if you were buying one for yourself, not to sell, would you spend the extra for the 04? I do like the 04 front bar a lot more, and I like that the seats are newer styler recaro's with black and red trip as opposed to the all red trim in the 02 models. any other changes between the 2? -

yeah my advice would be don't waste any cash on the go-pro troy. seriously. -
yeah that car looks nice, but would probably look even nicer without the day LEDs.

34s are completely different. R35s have a siemens prox key. no physical key. most 34 GTRs you just get a key cut same as any other car. the only difference is some have the immobiliser chip in the key (look for a red bit on the shoulder of the key) which links up with a reader in the ignition barrel area. it's a basic proximity based immobiliser. in that case you need the new immobiliser chip too. some also had dealer option alarms, but the keys are just normal keys. anyway back to R35s and the guy with the problem, seriously the best guy to talk to is the guy that sold you the car. either the aussie agent, or the japanese exporter, or even the japanese dealer if you bought it new. that is your best hope of sorting it out. and no an access port most likely wont be able to sync up a new key. it only does some basic stuff like error code resets etc. not the advanced things that consult does. and no I don't know anyone in perth with one. just to reiterate, seriously, speak to the bloke that sold you/exported to you the car.

so come on. someone tell me what are civics going for at auction? what's a fair price for a nice 02 model and a nice 04 model? give me a ballpark! -
told ya taleb was the way to go. it's definitely cheaper buying from them than even buying direct from japan. might be line-ball with tirerack depending on the exchange rate of the day, but they are a local business and will look after you as best they can.

here you go http://www.oilsols.com/contact.html http://www.hotfrog.com.au/Products/Oil-analysis
-
yep, that's how it works. the places I've used you pay about $50 or so, can be as much as $100, they send you a container, you fill it with used oil and send back and you get the report. I just recently posted about this I think? It's worth doing every now and then. I did one years ago when I first started using chrono 300V too.
-
not 100% sure, but the guys in japan told me you order the key, and then give the number that is on that plaque to nissan, that number is what they need to code it to your car. so you don't need the physical car to do it, just that code.
-
that's hot!
-
well if you have the tag with the number on it (nissan JP need it to encode the key correctly) then just buy one from nissan japan using the cars real chassis number. they shouldn't know whether or not the car left japan. and I would be taking all this up with whoever sold/exported the car for you. all 3 R35s I imported had 2 keys and the little tag/plaque for key re-order in case some got lost.
-
do you have the little tag with the number on it? you need that to re-order keys. it's a little alluminium tag that comes with the 2 keys. was your car new when you bought it in japan? it should have come with 2 keys and that little alloy tag. without that tag it's going to be a head fk getting a new key for it.

I think he means honda are selling the 5 door here now? -
yes ask hamilton, i've seen him do it and get away with it. and i've seen him do it and get penalised. both cases were a bit different to webbers though, he was just run off the road by alonso who out braked himself. if there was grass there and webber had still managed to pass him they probably would have let it stick. the fact that they BOTH went over the ripple strip and 'off the track" in my mind makes it even. pass should have stood.

looking good mate. -
it's a bit of a shame to see kimi leave ferrari. he was just so funny there. a team full of high-spirited gee'd up italians and this super cool, bored looking finish driver. gold. well I'm sure they sweetened his deal with a fair few ice creams. go kimi. the most interesting driver in F1. plus now they can flog all the left over kimi/maclaren merchandise.... and I can break out my shiny maclaren/kimi hat. wins for everyone.
-
agreed, they are all over the shop. It also seems webber is targetted for ze punishment. I would say he has no friends in the judiciary since he was (is?) for a long time the head of the GP drivers association. in that position he would have no doubt clashed with F1 management and F1 stewards. no wonder he gets caned if he so much as farts in the wrong direction. I actually thought the move on alonso was fair, they were side by side in the braking zone (if anything webber already a little ahead) and then alonso outbraked himself and pushed webber wide. alonso also went over the ripple strip, webber hung on around the outside and made the move stick. though I guess allowing that pass would have spoilt singapores perfect record of never having had an F1 passing move take place. anyway, the penalty was bullshit and even more so since he had to give up 8 seconds and an extra place that had nothing to do with him.
-
yeah I'm not a big fan, and at nearly $2000 AUD they are no wise spending. none of the 3 R35s I bought in had them optioned on. I'm pretty sure they are how you subtly tell people you like the company of other men. flash your 'day lights' at each other in passing....

what are peoples thoughts between the 02 model and the 04 model EP3s? every one I see for sale here is 02 model but I really like the 04 model updates, the seats look better being black and red instead of all black (and I think they are a slightly newer model recaro) plus the front bumper air dam part is different and makes the car look heaps more modern and tough. for the guys that have bought a few now, what are you paying in japan at auction for 02 models (clean 4.5, around 50kms) vs 04 models (again around 4.5a or b and around 40kms or so)? would love to get a ball park of what I should be bidding on these as I'm about to buy one. I just haven't looked at enough post auction to see what the good ones are going for. -
and webber was robbed. that move on alonso was hunky dory. I can't believe he had to let gonzo and glock past and dropped 8 seconds doing it. look where glock finished..... second. and with zero passing that position had webbers name on it. never mind that his brakes exploded.... now I know why webber was 11:1 for the win and also why I must have been the only bloke with money on him. vettel was 5:1 and homoton was a staggering 1.75:1 which in hindsight seems about right....
