lol, sorry i do miss the odd one... JEZ13: yes 255s all round is fine. depends on what size wheels you have. if they are say 8.5 and 9s. you may want to run 245s all round. that will be a good size on both the 8.5s and the 9s. but to be honest the best bet is to sell them and get a set of 17X9s all round and you can happily run 235s, 245s or 255s all round on the 9. R33 GTR wheels are a good choice, they are strong, look good, and not expensive. otherwise there are heaps of GTR suitable wheels out there in this size. I even have a set of BBS LMs in 17X9 +20 which I use as street wheels. the other option is hunt down a pair of wheels the same as your rears to put on the front.

Equivelent Suspension To Sydneykid
Beer Baron replied to Rekin's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah there is no doubt heasmans are not the cheapest guy out there, BUT you get a lot for your money. they have some of the smartest blokes in nsw in suspension tuning on their payroll and have a huge wealth of knowledge, and they have all the bet equipment and huge back-up stock and aftersales support for all their products. so you can easily get your shocks rebuilt, re-valved or whatever in the future. so you pay a bit more, but you definitely get a bit more too. -
lol, yeah I just remembered that too! hehe, that was certainly memorable...

Equivelent Suspension To Sydneykid
Beer Baron replied to Rekin's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
heasmans can definitely steer you in the right direction mate. they have involvement with lots of skylines, from your regular street R32s, to full on circuit 32s (from super sprints to door to door stuff), to drag and even drift cars. unlike many suspension places they actually know what makes a car handle, not just how to stop uneven tyre wear on the road... obviously being a bilstein importer/dealer they will probably set you up with some bilstein shocks anyway. -
yeah a lot of 32s do behave like a kart underbrakes! i've been backing mine into corners for years... dialling out the rear end movement under brakes takes a bit of work. and maybe an adjustment in driving style. for one thing any trail braking usually results in the back of the car trying to overtake you...

use a socket and ratchet or spanner. not the screw driver. or even better a ratchet spanner. easy.

GTR pump in good condition is ample for 300 or even 350rwkw. but if there is a cloud over it's reliability (ie old R32 pump) then it can be worth replacing. I've had one fail before at 270rwkw. it didn't cause any damage when it failed but it was a pain in the arse. bosch pumps are ok, but the nismo/tomei pumps have been the most reliable in my experience but they may be just because they are a true direct fit pump where as a lot of the bosch pumps fail due to incorrect installation. you eliminate any chance of that with a nismo/tomei pump. you would have to try really hard to fk up an install of one of those.

Arp Main Studs... At What Point Should They Be Needed?
Beer Baron replied to GTRNUR's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
anything up to 350rwkw and I wouldn't bother. after that they are worth looking at depending what else is going into the build and how much power you're ultimately after. -
it must be mental from 5000rpm to 6,000rpm!! lol it triples it's power in 1,000rpm! does it still make power after 7500rpm?

Cadillac also a fine choice. get any vintage. they're all good... (lol).

I'm all turned around on this. I can see it from jims point of view. he just mis-translated "thorn rose" as "full nismo S tune upgrade package from nismo omori factory". it happens to the best of us... domo arigato mr robato.

235/45 = 106mm sidewall. 255/40 = 102mm = not the same diameter. it's not much different but given that rears in powerful GTRs tend to wear faster too you quite quickly are outside of the (small) tolerance that attessa can cope with. basically your rear wheels will always be turning faster than the fronts which means the car thinks there is rear wheel spin all the time. which is not a good thing. yes with some thought you can get different width tyres that are the same diameter but it's not worth it for a number of reasons. 1. GTRs need all the front grip they can get. running smaller front tyres is a bad idea and will give you more understeer. 2. running same size all round means you can rotate front to back which will extend the life of your tyre sets. it's a far better idea to take the pain now and sell up what you have and get back to a set of equal sized wheels and tyres than to live with the problem.
-
time to change your tyres mate. running different size tyres front to rear will quickly wreck your AWD... they must be the same overall diameter all round.

yeah i know the E30s are already overpriced, but how much are they in the UK? a good one here is $60K! a decent E35 can be had for $30K or so, so keep that in mind when buying a 36. I can't remember what the EVO model gets, probably some body bits, maybe a bit of carbon here and there. sht like that. always worth getting the 'special' models though. if it's good it sounds like a winner. and when you bring it back to aus you can flog it to me cheap as I love the 36s too and they are half the price and twice the car of an E30. but only half as cool.

Problems With Nismo Slave Clyinder...
Beer Baron replied to xanavinismo's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well it sounds to me like they need to adjust the clutch throw. this can be done inside the car. there is a rod with a lock nut and an adjuster nut to adjust the length of the clutch rod. the other problem could be clutch pedal bracket flex which is very common in 32s but being a 34 it's less likely. the other other option is they've fked the install somehow which also seems possible. -
just remember when GTR hunting the S stands for super. or special. no no wait. I got it. the S stands for niSmo...... yeah that's it.

the real question is who on earth would want a special edition named after john bowe? and if it's a john bowe edition, how 'special' can it really be?
-
it's ok mate. used to be the hotel charles which was a dive. much more up market now targetted at early-mid 20s business type folk from the area. I haven't been there for a long time since I moved to the city but I don't remember it being particularly pricey. have I ever told you that you look like earl, from "my name is earl"? seriously. you do. post a pic for the good people.

Painting and Powder coating rocker covers
Beer Baron replied to maximumrpm's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
Chris, do you do paint stripping? want to get my plenum paint stripped. got my R34 N1 Nur engine so it of course already has the nice Nur covers, but the plenum will look weird in black so i want to just have it bare. it would actually probably come up ok after a sand blast or some other kind of media blast. -
17x10 With 255's Good Option For R32 Gtr?
Beer Baron replied to slip's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
well handling wise and grip wise the 9.5 or the 10 is the way to go with the 255. 255s particularly in semi comps CAN be a bit big on a 9. in some road tyres they are perfect, in others the tyre is a little too wide for optimum 'feel'. generally when you get the right size tyre on the rim you get less sidewall movement and better steering feel and better grip. sadly not every brand of tyre have exactly the same tyres. a 235 yoko a048 for example is the same width as a 255 dunlop sp sport maxx road tyre. go the 9.5s or the 10s which ever you can get on a 32 GTR 255/17s are a great size. and they fit best on a 9.5 or 10.
