Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
Beer Baron replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
sounds good. maybe even consider the HKS TO4Z kit. it's a good match for v-cam and HKS 2.8. my friends car in tokyo (shinagawa) has this set-up and it makes silly power but is still very driveable. a big cheaper than the 2835 SFTK too. Good idea on getting some aussie parts in there. the exchange rate is certainly in your favour at the moment. Cars are a bit of a bitch to sell at the moment, but top level cars will always be able to be sold no matter what the market. I just sold my 32 that I did a similar thing to what you are doing now. check out this thread for some pics. It's a bit of a smaller scale to your build, using nissan crate motor, then rebuilt at prime garage, tomei cams, manifolds, HKS GT-SS, tomei dumps etc etc. lots of good gear. and it sold very quickly and for fair money. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Be...tr-t221436.html -
[group Buy] Acpt Carbon Fibre Tailshafts Any Model! $1400us
Beer Baron replied to Angus Smart's topic in Group Buys
hey just be thankful that the shafts are too short and not too long!! lol. then you'd really have a problem... -
the japanese pumps, nismo, tomei etc are well worth the money. in both of my heavily modified GTRs I used japanese pumps and couldn't be happier. they fit straight in in about 10mins. sure you can hack up your cradle to fit a bosch pump, but the number of times I've seen people fit an aftermarket pump to the stock cradle and then get fuel surge due to improper mounting is insane. considering how important good fuel supply is I would spend the extra few bucks and get a nismo one.

Will A Power Fc From R34 Gtr Fit A R32 Gtr
Beer Baron replied to mattblack's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
it's ok, but really not super cheap. you can get a used PFC WITH hand controller for under $800 or less. and hand controller is important to have and expensive to buy on it's own. -
guys, it was a joke. he doesn't have an R35 and this non-existent R35 did not blow up in reverse. I think a few of us need our sarcasm meters recalibrated...

Help I Accidentally Added Disel Into The Petrol Tank
Beer Baron replied to MFC05's topic in General Automotive Discussion
this is definitely the advice i'd be following too, except I'd pull out the fuel filter too, or even just pull the fuel feed line off the filter and drain it from there (pre filter). pump it all out. put 8-10 litres of fresh fuel into the tank and pump that out too. then fill up and drive. then fill it with some good fuel and hope for the best. pay more attention next time! -
Which Drive Shafts Are Stronger?
Beer Baron replied to spin's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the mounting points between the cradle and the body are a little different (like a few mm). but can be sorted with offset bushes apparently. the suspension arm pick-up points on the cradle are a little different too with the R33/34 cradles having better rear end geometry than the 32s. -
you should know cutie!

yeah it fking pisses me off. and means you cannot see any changes in AFR unless you get out a microscope. I have no idea what or why they have to hide but it's pretty bad form in my view. and probably not needed either as they certainly have a good reputation for tuning.

Will A Power Fc From R34 Gtr Fit A R32 Gtr
Beer Baron replied to mattblack's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm sure it can be done, but how cheap is this power FC? because 32/33 power FCs are not exactly stupidly expensive. they are probably the most affordable ecu you can buy and one of the most common types of PFC out there. so the 34 one would need to be mighty cheap to make it worth the hassle. -

why use a bmw LSD? the GTR lsd is a good thing. 2 way, mechanical clutch plate LSD unlike the crap viscous LSDs in all the other skylines. sticking to the complete GTR cradle will be easiest and probably best as you wont have to stuff around with diff mounts etc. 33 and 34 cradles have slightly better suspension geometry but the 32 cradle will probably be easier to get, and cheaper. and is still good. -
I can't imagine anyone in aus will want an RB20DE R34 sedan... as David said there will be no other RB20DE R34s here for you to compare to since they are not elligible under SEVS (our import scheme) as they don't have enough kw per tonne. people here only import the RB25DE NEO as a minimum and most are RB25DET. and there is a big difference in price between a RB20DE car and an RB25DET as there are many differences apart from the engine (suspension, brakes, interior, body kit etc).

pics: what it's like under the wrapping. tbh i've never unwrapped the whole thing since I bought it, but if you want to come check it out I can upwrap it all for a local buyer. I just left it like that as it'll save me re-wrapping it for post of pick-up. rear section front section rear section pipe size = 80mm front section pipe size also = 80mm tip size = 115mm

fatz, get off my keyboard. you fking clown.

angry but intriguing at the same time. one might even say 'rugged'.... mmmmmm rugged... you have that look that says, i'm hard on the outside, but soft on the inside, like a nice champagne truffle.... mmmm. lol.

it has the red label on the side of the tip like this: and has the nice baffle like this: from looking at the pics it looks like the old version of the current the only difference I can find is that they have recently changed to 4 bolt flange from 2 bolt flange. everything else is the same. So get in quick. It's about a quarter of the price of what it costs new. Sure it's not exactly mind condition with a small dent on the front section underneath, and a fair bit of dirt soot etc and needs a polish to make it look new again, but hey, it's a quarter the price! the sound of a kakimoto race type exhaust on a GTR has to be heard at least once in your life! perfect match. oh, and tony, the jap sizes are all in mm, not inches. it's 80mm which is bigger than 3inch but probably a bit smaller than 3.5inch.

Hi jakez, not sure if it will fit GTST correctly or not. I would guess that it will. it's the cat-back section so should be the same between 32 GTR and GTST. not sure if it's mega N1 or which type. but it would be something like that. it's 80mm all the way, 115mm tip, with the proper kakimoto removable baffle/silencer, all stainless. it's this one, which yes, seems to be mega N1. (picture this one, but used/dirty/in need of a good polish!)

yes I'd love to hear that too!

carbon rims are pretty sweet. these are magnesium/carbon. not too keen on the wheel spoke design, but they still look cool.

yeah I don't know if I'd buy one at 1.6mil yen. the base GTR at 8 mil is excellent value. no doubt a spec v at 16mil is still good value, but hard to swallow when you know a base model costs half as much. but consider that to upgrade your base R35 with wheels would cost about 3 mil. new seats, maybe 1mil new suspension maybe 1 mil from many places ecu tuning ok maybe 100,000 all the carbon bits, got to be at least 500,000 plus the other bits maybe 1 mil. so we are up around 6 mil or so in parts. and we have only got an upgraded steel brake set-up, not the carbon brakes like the spec V, and we will have knackered our warranty, obviously the spec V comes with those bits standard, plus obviously the spec V will have better resale than a tuned base model. so it suddenly doesn't look like bad value. remember all tuning parts for the R35 cost about 5 times what comparable bits cost for older tunable japanese sports cars. so in that sense the extra 8mil seems a bit more reasonable.

agreed!

Rb26dett Quality Oil Cooler Kit
Beer Baron replied to GTRBOS's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
tony mate, you have to admit you got sprung mate. you bought an oil cooler cheap off ebay (because it's well used, no brand, looks like it's incomplete as well) with the plan of flogging it off for a quick buck onto a forum user. you got a bit lazy and re-used the other blokes description and even his pics to save some time, and just added a made up story about buying it off your 'cousin'. now considering the item ended on friday night and you posted your ad on sunday midday it's extremely unlikely that you even have the item yet. posting items for sale that you don't even have is also not a good idea. it's also a bit unlikely that your 'cousin' would buy something friday night, not even receive the item, then decide 10 mins later he doesn't want it and will sell it to you, even though he's never even seen it in the flesh, then you buy it and sell it. come on mate, give people some credit. you told a whopper and got caught. I'll lock the thread, but I'm not going to delete it. the ebay add reads: Item number: 300274407153 Skyline GTR, 200sx etc Oil Cooler with braided lines Seller: i_hate_cars( 33Feedback score is 10 to 49) Feedback: 100 % Positive Member: since 11-Jan-07 in Australia Winning bid: AU $89.86 Ended 28-Nov-08 19:57:54 AEDST This is a quality 10 row Oil Cooler with all braided hoses and attachments ready to fit a Skyline GTR with RB 26 Engine. It is a simple plug in and potentially save your engine for very few dollars. It came off my race car but has no brand markings. Definately suits all cars but hoses are correct length for Nissan Skyline GTR R32 R33 R34 with RB 26 engines. No reserve Pick up is from Northmead or Box Hill Will courier at your expense. $15 Sydney, Central Coast, Wollongong, $25 anywhere else in Australia extra photos here http://www.flickr.com/photos/90747317@N00/...57608191059794/ -
Hi Guys, As a gift I just got a new Trust power evo TR II 94mm V-band exhaust for my 32 GTR, so I am selling the exhaust I had ready to go on it. It's an 80mm Kakimoto stainless system. It's cat back, in 2 sections. It has a hotdog type resonator in the front bit and just 1 canon at the back. It does have a removable baffle/silencer too in case you need to fly under the radar for a bit, and the baffle is designed so that it's barely visible when fitted. Kakimoto exhausts are world renowned as the best sounding exhausts for a GTR. and they are made with the quality of material and welding that is typical of the good japanese exhausts. It's the full stainless one too not the mild piping/stainless muffler type. I'm asking $420 pick-up in sydney, or organise your courier to pick up from me. The exhaust does have a small dent in the front section and it could use a nice clean and polish. but apart from that it's all good. Pics to come tomorrow. $420 is a bargain for a Jap stainless 80mm system that currently would cost well over $1600 to buy new from japan.
