Gtr Gear Box Strenth
Beer Baron replied to dave32gtr's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yes, the reason is they cost $20K. but there are a few getting around. and they are a great box. but just like any of the others you can break one if you try hard enough. there is no magic, indestructible box out there sadly. -
hmmm, I might have to stumble in. afterwards we can all ahve pied then head to my place up the road for a swin.

D'oh! they are dropping like flies! VR38.... the RB26 for the new generation...

Just Jap Racing Gives An R35 Gtr The Chop - Literally
Beer Baron replied to Just Jap Racing's topic in R35 GTR
because you cannot import complete cars for use as spare parts. why do you think people sell half cuts or front cuts? if you could just bring in a whole car and sell it for parts that's what people would do. of course. -
I say go by yourself! I used to always want to travel with friends. I always thought it's best when you have someone with you to share experiences with etc. someone you can see something amazing with and say "wow! look at at that!". I also thought you look like a bit of a nige or a loner travelling alone. but once I found myself wanting to go back to japan, and no-one to go with me, so I went by myself. and since then some of the best japan trips i've had have been by myself. though when I say by myself I guess I do have a lot of friends there, so it's not like I spent much time on my own. but at least travelling by yourself means you can do whatever YOU want and it encourages you to meet other people and strengthen those friendships. though on the other hand I guess for a first time it would be nice to have someone to go with. anyway, if you can't find someone to go with you eventually, I say just go it alone and see what happens.

sorry officer, I thought I was stuck in some snow and or mud back there at the traffic light and needed the 4500rpm snow and mud extraction control to get me out....

yeah he was pretty pleased. The whole deal is pretty un-stressed at the moment, which is how he wants it for continuous trouble free motoring. there is probably a few more mph in it with more boost and tuning and I think having the attessa controller turned up probably hurts the mph a bit up the deep end, but I think he's more than happy with the performance as it is. It's nothing really out there, but pretty solid just the same.

Hey guys, Another small update. The new owner took the car to the strip in perth last week for a bit of drag fun. He is not a drag racer by any means but was just keen to get a slip and some idea of th ecars potential. Anyway, the result was an 11.7 second pass @120mph. not bad at all I reckon. getting clsoe to R35 terriory for a fraction of the cost and certainly faster than most 'exotcs' out there. With a bit of practice even with the current tune, tyres, etc it cold do a 11.4 or so I reckon and with more boost, tuning and maybe some 17s or 16 I would say a flat or low 11 would not be out of the question. But for now Glenn is just happy to know he has a genuine "11 second car".

yeah well done jess. some good results in there.

lol, yeah it's pretty funny and quite similar as they have very high sills, and very low seats. it has the recaro carbon buckets bolted to the floor so you kind of have to climb over the sill then down into the seat. a bit weird when you're over 6 foot, but with some practice now I can do it without looking like a complete fool!

Power Steering Cooler
Beer Baron replied to DAS KAMU's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
standard one is pretty crap. if you're doing any track work use a small tube and fin cooler with push on end fittings. -
Has Anyone Changed Cam Angle Sensors On R33s?
Beer Baron replied to NYTSKY's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah for the RB26 32/33 cas = the same (metal cover). 34 cas different (plastic cover and different cam drive). -
Hks Japan 2.8 Engine Build
Beer Baron replied to elrodeo666's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
I reckon try and talk them out of the 2835 SFTK. It is a great kit, and nice manifolds, and nice external gate noise, but a set of 2530s or GT-RS I think will really give the kind of result you're after. and the 2530s will give a very comfortable 600ps and the RS 700ps+ the 2835 kit is talking 800ps. the 2835 kit is more money, more power, less response. There is no problem with the surge tank set-up. many cars in aus have external fuel pumps and anti-surge tanks etc. my only other comment is the injectors may be marginal with either the RS or the 2835s. but should be fine for the 2530s. definitely consider some kind of enlarged sump too and a nice oil cooler (may not need it most months on hokkaido, but you will need it in aus.) -
the regular AF ratio gauges that read off your stock sensor are rubbish. complete waste of time and tell you nothing. the most important is oil pressure, oil temp and water temp. also important are fuel pressure and boost. then if you still need more look at EGT.

Which Daily Pad For Bnr32 ?
Beer Baron replied to cobrAA's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
best street pads? Endless SS-S. the CC-X are a bit too hard core for mainly street use I reckon. the SS-S will hold up 'ok' on 1 or 2 mild track days too. but it's not hard to change pads and just have some separate track pads. but the SS-S are a great high performance road pad. cheap too. -
yeah I know, they are a tad large. but bloody good design. and I'm pretty sure GTR is about the same size/weight as a cat excavator isn't it? handles like it.... did I say that?

and besides that, if you were a buyer who wanted this car to impress in the traffic light GP, you don't need launch control to smash 99.99% of cars out there. even without the LC it's a rapid thing 0-100. though I must say I would rather have the LC than not have it. as it's a neat party trick to pull once in a while.

cool, they look fked in the pics. these trailers are the grand daddys! nice desig's with the tilting ones and the beaver tails http://www.trailmax.com/Tiltbed/TD-20-T.htm http://www.trailmax.com/Beavertail/TD-24-FBR.htm

hey mate, yeah I know WRC cars run 16inch rims on dirt/gravel but we are not talking a lightweight WRC car, with unlimited budget for suitable offset wheels to fit the required brakes with their latest tech calipers pads and rotors. we are talking a 1500kg 20yo 32 GTR. and for people with a budget, you will almost certainly need something better than the factory 296mm rotors and 4 pot callipers to pull the thing up. I know the dirt stuff may not be as hard on the brakes as the circuit/tarmac stuff but i still don't reckon the stock gear would be up to it. plus as alan said he wants to run 15inch rims so he can use the readily available tyres he wants. most off the shelf 15s will not fit over the stock 32 GTR brakes let alone any upgrade. anyway considering how cheap and tuneable 32 GTRs are to purchase I would say if they were any good at dirt rallying there would be dozens and dozens out there by now. like I said, it would look and sound awesome, but results wize you'd be better off following the pack and jumping into an evo or wrx as all the development has been done, parts available and results proven.

there is no centre diff in any GTR. 32 33 or 34. they all run the same type of transfer case with a wet clutch pack type arrangement to send drive to the front. the only difference is in the way the computer controls the transfer case pressure and how fast it samples the data in the different mddels. 32 GTRs don't make good dirt rally cars for a number of reasons. heavy = 1500kg big cast iron block inline 6 up front not good for balance possibly too much RWD bias cannot fit 15 inch rims over the standard brakes, and you would really need bigger than standard brakes anyway for some serious competition cost of running one as a dirt rally car would be pretty high. not much available steering lock it would be fun, and would look and sound awesome! but there is every chance you would be quicker for much less money in a wrx or evo on the dirt. tarmac rallying is a whole other story though...

nice trailer. but please chuck those tyres in the bin! they look terrible. the colour looks cool though. in the pics the ramps look a little short, but you can get around that without too much trouble if need be.
