kyoto to osaka is not very far. it's about 30-40min by shinkansen. for that trip to be honest I'd go by train (shinkansen) it's a great experience if you've never been before and you can just sit back and enjoy watching the country fly by out the window. maybe do a road trip on another japan trip when you are more familiar with the basic geography of the place and some langauge. something like tokyo down to osaka would be pretty cool for a road trip. or maybe head up north from tokyo instead? lots of options.

yep, went to a huge tournament at ryogoku a few years back. it was one of the first things I wanted to do in japan. I got "lost" though and "accidentaly" ended up in the go-man yen floor seats, ringside. now that was awesome. Outside the ring where the sumo were walking around lots of people were asking for photos with the sumo. some girls would get photos taken sitting on their laps. so I did it too and have a funny pic of me on a giant sumo's lap. I then asked if he would sit on my lap for a photo. lol. he didn't know if I was serious or joking but eitherway he wasn't game to crush me! there was a few hairbacked gaijin doing pretty well too. but it just doesn't look right... I still have some cool little figurines and stuff that I bought there. ps. how many times a day do you type 'mang'? trust me when I say it's not as cool or funny as you think. and with huge overuse becomes quite annoying... srsly mang.

473 is about acceptable to me. what are you on about mate? did I somehow offend you? I thought the sentence was pretty bloody simple. not many foreigners I know, even those that can speak japanese well and read and write kana, know many kanji. I honestly don't know what your problem is. half the time it seems to me you trawl the forum looking for an argument. my point was this. not too many people, even amongst those studying japanese will know lots of kanji. he posted a thread for help, at that point in my study 2 years ago it was too much for me to read to help him. after one day he grew tired of waiting and bumped the thread. I simply pointed out that there are not huge reserves of people on the forum with the time and skill to read it for him and to just be patient (ie don't bump the thread every day). Not everyone reads the forum every day and for request like this sometimes it may take a few days for someone to respond. now your japanese may be excellent and you may be a grand high master of kanji too but if you could not understand the simple message above I think perhaps your english comprehension skills are somewhat lacking. Also consider the fact that this thread is over 18 months old.

I was just remembering back to when I picked this car up from the docks in sydney. brand spanking new, plastic on everything, 100kms on the clock.... look at it now! thoroughly abused!! holes in it everywhere, caged, stripped, seats, steering wheel, exhaust... but it's been set free from a life of posing at coffee shops and fancy hotels. we both know it's much more at home out in the boonies at some race track belting out some laps. you've set it free mate. haha. my mate justin who was there when it arrived in sydney all those months ago saw the pics of it last night and he nearly didn't beleive me it was the same car!! poor fella was beside himself as it's by far the nicest car he's been in. he can't understand how we can do things like this to perfectly good forms of transport. now go and kick some arse in tassie. and most importantly have some fun. but if you can get a result it would be nice mate as at least then mark will stop lauging at you. I can even see him laughing at your car in the last pic. gold!

I honestly think you guys are crazy to claim all these differences between the various 98 RON brands. I've used caltex 98, shell 98, mobil 98, BP 98 and they are all pretty much the same. the car doesn't run any better or worse on them. there must be something wrong with your car or tune or you had a stale or contaminated batch of fuel for you to notice any difference. and i have cars from 120awkw through to 350rwkw and a few in between and besides which most of the 98 RON fuels come from the same refinery just branded differently. the V power Racing 100RON was great and I would have bought it all he time, but the lack of availability was a problem. when you only sell the stuff at half a dozen servos NSW wide it's always destined to be a failure. They should have rolled it out to many more servos and I'm sure it would have been a hit. bummer it's gone and now we no longer have 100RON pump fuel readily available.

Whose Done The 26/30 N/a Conversion?
Beer Baron replied to GTRsean's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
nice work. if it were mine I would be getting rid of the factory plenum and get some individual velocity stacks. the stock intake is designed to work under pressure and my bet is it's holding you back as it's not suited. even consider some larger throttles, Garage Saurus make a few different options for 26 head that still wants the 6 throttles, just bigger. definately get the intake and exhaust ported and get some big cams in there. around 280-290 degree and 11mm lift+, you'll need the valve springs and retainers to suit and some clearancing work in the head but you've come this far and these finishing touches will really make it nice. the thing is though, to make power with this NA engine you need revs. with the big cams and a better intake you'll be able to make the most of the top end. as long as your bottom end is strong you should be able to rev it to 8500+. anyway, very cool idea and certainly something different in aus. enjoy. -

nice one mate. Good to see people not afraid to have a crack at some DIY. -
I heard they got sick of people calling them greedy instead of greddy and are going to close up shop...

nice work guys. sounds like an awesome event. I will need to muster up some balls and get one of me fancy cars out there next time.

lol, I'm 100% sure you are 100% wrong. This may shock you, but things happen in the world you may not know about. That car was imported eariler this year to sydney as a test car. It was complied and registered in Sydney and then sold to a buyer in adelaide. it is not a personal import so I don't know how you got to be 100% sure of that...

well refusing to pay for the job is not going to really do you any favours. and will just majorly piss off the panel beater. BUT he certainly does need to help get another one, and pay any costs involved in getting it. I would contact DOTARS and ask them what can be done about it. -
looks good mate. it will be even better now that Beer Baron super express racing parts has got you those mines front rotors. cracked rotor in an R35 going hard would not end pretty.... Man you are going to have a ball in it now. all the little changes like the moveable paddles, the wheel, the seat and harness will make a huge difference to the feel of the thing. I also spy you with some maccas in the first pic. food of champions! hehe.

there is no issue with the headlights. DOT or E marking are marks that are set into a car part when manufactured to show that that component meets the Department Of Transport or Euro transport standard applicable to that type of car part. they can't be added to a part later, they are done at time of manufacture. cars made overseas often comply to those standards not aus standards but in many instances they deem the standards to be compatible so we allow DOT marks or E marks to be acceptable for certain parts. perhaps consider taking your car to stretch (autosport) for the blue slip. he knows all this and will ensure it's done properly and fairly.
-
also, this could pose a problem 普通自動車運転免許歴20年以上の方 you must have held a drivers licence for at least 20 years (and I assume they mean Japanese licence and I doubt would accept international, or aussie for this particular offer). add to that from what I can gather you have to apply, then chose a day, then they draw names out of a hat to see who gets it on that particular day (providing you meet all the other criteria). next to impossible for a foreigner.

Tokyo Autosalon is in january each year. I think next year around the 14th of jan. yes nismo festival is in november though. thanks for posting the link choku dori. sadly as akkenan pointed out the rental period is for between 5th september and 31st of october. d'oh!

love it mate. the car is looking awesome. there certainly are a lot of positives I can see in going the LS1 route as much as it may pain me to say it!! Can't wait to see and hear it running.

this advice is spot on (greg runs a workshop that issues blue slips himself so he knows!). and as I stated in your other of the 3 threads you started: mate, 1 thread is enough. there is no surer way to piss people off on a forum than the sign up and start 3 threads on one topic to try and glean info. in future, start 1 thread in the appropriate section, then patiently wait for someone to respond with some help. this one stays as it's the first one I saw. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ra-t236568.html

they 'should' be DOT or E marked and that is acceptable for compliance providing the peopel who complied it had evidence for them (which they must have). have you got the CIN (consumer information notice) or the orginal engineers sign off from when it was complied? those two docs will help you out. otherwise you will have to fit appropriate seatbelts. as for the headlights they are most certainly compliant. perhaps consider another blue slip station that is more familiar with imports. I use andrews automotive in five dock, or a place in brookvale (bugger, name escapes me) or autosport at kirrawee are fine too. they are all clued up on imports and know what is/is not needed.

lol, the picture is gold! and yes she may be a tart but I wouldn't turn her away...

R34 Gtr Build Plan (track / Street)
Beer Baron replied to Got Boost?'s topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah that is a good point too. but you can't just change the rear gears, must do fronts as well. i'm not sure if 32/33 gears will fit on 34 diffs, but if they do you will have plenty of 4.11:1 gears available for not much money. or if you like you can even go to 4.375:1 out of a 32 GTS4 (I did for my 32 GTR). just remember that of course the new diffs will reduce your potential top speed, but considering the factory gearing gives some stupidly astronomical top speed that you will never reach on any australian circuit it's not a real problem. it will mean highway cruise is at a higher rpm, but for me it was worth the trade off.
