Power Fc D-jetro With Single Throotle
Beer Baron replied to GreeceS13's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yes pau is wrong. they must get their signal AFTER the throttle. you can stil do them the same as the PFC manual states (tap into the 3rd and 4th intake runner) or you can tap two holes and fit the nipples on the top of the plenum, or there may already be some points you can use on that plenum ( I can see some MAP take offs near the back of the plenum/surge tank). the reason they must be after the throttle is they need to be reading both boost and vacuum. if you put it between the intercooler and before the throttle it wont get a proper vacuum reading when the throttle is shut. -
yes it's one thing peolpe have failed to mention and that is it wouldn't have mattered too much if masa punted him or not as he had already flat spotted his tyres (and I quote) down to the canvas. imagine driving down a 1.5km straight with square tyres... he would have had to pit anyway which would have put him pretty much where he was. and it was good to see hambone get a taste of what it's like for people to try un-workable moves on you only to wreck your race for you in the process. and I lol'd when later in the race they said that someone (I forget who, I think maybe massa) needed to pull a hamilton-esque move to pass someone. haha, get your hand off it boys. the best thing hamilton has one so far is the church picnic raffle. I will most likely wet my pants if massa wins this year. kimi snatched it last year. ferrari will be well pleased to have taken the WDC and WCC two years in a row one each for their drivers. with some help from their good mates at the FIA.
-
lol. agree with that! I agree with that too. it was a bit harsh. but the conspiracy theorists have been telling us for ages that FIA don't like people trying to pass or hold out the red cars so it's to be expected I guess. maybe massa thought seb would roll over since STR use the rari engines...

nice to see lowndes win. I was spewing to see skaifey out of it so early. and poor old seto! baird stuffed it just a fwe laps from the end in a good position. all in all bathurst still delivers.

massa may have come up the inside but hammo just turned into the apex like he didn't expect massa to be there. lol where else would he be? they were side by side into the right hander, massa went deep on the outside which would give him the inside for the left hander. if hammo had just left him some room (knowing full well he would end up there) there would have been no contact and they could have taken the fight for position to the next corner. you can argue that hammo doesn't have to leave room or worry about what the other cars are doing, but that is what causes the incidents. he is supposed to give racing room and didn't. if he had masa would not have needed to get all up on the curb and would not have hit hammo,
-
hehe, I noticed that too and thought "smart cookie" all the other noobs spray it around, then when they take their dainty little sip all they get is froth. kimi takes a decent swig, then farks around. good man. and what a surprise hammo is making things tough for himself yet again... CHOKER. and how nice was it to see webber give massa a hard time. in years gone by in a car with that little grip and a ferrari behind he would just roll over and play dead but he squeezed massa hard, then went out wide to try and get back at him but no grip and no power = no chance.
-
no you cant easily and there is no point anyway. you would be left with a car that constantly locks rear brakes and has little front braking effort so wouldn't pull up very well either. how quick are you going at the track? How much power? and what tyres do you run? for 90% of guys on circuit a decent front brake upgrade with standard rears is good enough. eventually if you get really fast you may need to upgrade the rears. but unless you are at that point I would just do it for no reason.

yep, it's your average japanese tuner. this one has a nissan and skyline focus. they offer engine building in lots of different combos for GTSTs. They're in Shizuoka prefecture.

saw aaron macgill finish 21st in the 2nd teir V8s. man he just can't seem to crack a good result these days. needs lots-o money I suspect.

it's the awesome g-force. under acceleration it's trying to blow the front windscreen out the back.

I can't remember exactly, but my hazy brain is telling me it was around 5m yen = $50K at the time. quite good buying for one in that original condition. another pic. -
head looks nice shane. squish zone treatment is very arty. pics of mine to come...

f**king hell mate! sorry to hear the engine didn't last I feel for you mate. hopefully it's back again soon.

yes many companies sell pistons that they have made elsewhere to their spec. but you picked a bad 2 examples. both HKS and Tomei do make their own pistons and both are top shelf.

djr81, which one did you buy and where from? and most importantly.... how much?! thanks mate. -
you should not be driving it at all really. get it fixed. stock injectors are cheap to source. get them cleaned and flow tested too, new o-rings and whack them in. then away you go.

I saw a genuine 400R up at auction a couple of months ago. now that would be cool for rally and the 2.8 and 400ps wouldn't hurt. it's the 33 to have. this particular one may have been a bit nice to race though. I can tell you if I'd had the money at the time I would have bought it. Grade 5A (unheard of generally for cars that old). 5,000 odd kms. would have been a nice collectors piece. -
you look pretty cute in that leather unitard mate. good to see you didn't damage your heiny too much either. just a light pounding which is I guess about par for the course with you.

where abouts are you willing to work? -
skaife for the win. I'm with you Troy. stick seto in there too. if he bagged a win with skaife that would surely see the value of my seton seat sky rocket and with the state of the AUD I could use a few quid! and there may not be that many tander lovers here but I don't mind the bloke. and he sure can drive. watching him drive a civic in a round of IP under 2 litre (with a competetive field) at oran grand prix circuit a year or two back was an eye opener. he went from dead last (about 20th or so) to first in about 8 laps. then did it again the next race. so he's certainly not in V8s for his looks. and he mentioned that it was the first time he'd raced a FWD car. very impressive.

and we all need some help clearing the gasses from time to time.... looking at you fatz.

thanks for confirming. I guessed they might be as it's the only smart way for them to trade in a car that they buy OS. very bad news if the rate stays as is. I'm sure they had priced in some 'wiggle room' 10% up or down of what it was when the announced the price, but no way would they have anticipated 40%...

personally I reckon the headstuds are more trouble than they are worth. drilling out the holes, plus the length problem giant mentioned etc add up to too much hassle for not too much benefit. brand new bolts went into mine. on the other hand if you have the super power, and run the super boost then you may need them so not really have any choice.
-
me too! 100%. from what I understand though removing the squish zone isn't just about reducing the compression, that's more a by product, and as you pointed out can be returned by skimming the head. I think it's also about the shape of the chamber. obviously with those 2 pads removed you get larger volume but also the shap is different. I think the idea is having a smoother bowl shape gives less hot spots. in a normal head you get hot spots where there are any little angles or casting imperfections and the can cause pre-igntion or uneven combustion. by removing the squish pads you raise this threshold. the aim of course is you can run more timing and more boost which i'm told outweighs any other loss you might have (on a race engine). what convinces me further is that of the fastest GTRs I know in oz and OS, the ones kind enough to share with me what they do headwise they tell me they remove them. I should point out again for a street car the trade of probably isn't worth it (unless you have silly power) as you want be running enough boost and power to make the most of it. but doing one side is aparently a good compromise. for a race car most of these guys tell me both sides is the go. my own head? I did one side. I'll dig up some pics for you in a bit.

I approve snowbuddy. looks good. steering colum at perfect height for me if I want to steer with my nutsack so I can eat a burger and drink a beer at the same time. it's rally-tastic I say.
