  1. WTF? nooo. end of another era. as of this year no more oran park and no more skaife in australian touring car racing. he's been racing and winning the thing since I was about 10 years old! fk it. I will have to get out to Oran Park to see him race there one last time.
  2. very good point on the bullbars yet I wonder how many defects are handed out for a dangerous bullbar? very few I'd wager. yet an unsafe bullbar can kill someone. don't think a BOV, or loud exhaust could turn an otherwise non-fatal collision into a fatal one, but I bet the wrong type of bullbar can...
  3. that shut me up! I have the 9inch +20 too and they were quite close even on my old stock 32 set-up, but I guess the alcons don't protrude much more than stockies. carry on.
  4. what was your offer again pete? 2 kegs of home brew and 3 trips around the moon and 2 of your finest R31 wrecks? let me think it over big boy...
  5. fron 32 GTR are 296X32. the rears are 297. front 32 GTST are 280X30 and 33 GTST are 296X30. 33 GTR are 324X30. no problem running the GTST rotors 2mm not too much difference to matter, but why not just run the 32 GTR rotors? they are just that little bit thicker which is a good thing.
  6. why not just change the final drive? and anyway this is the wrong section. we have a section called "wanted to buy" for a reason. next time, use it.
  7. nah, city.
  8. stop digging up old threads. I've already warned you once.
  9. lol. I live on elizabeth st and I was just thinking surely at least half the busses will fail. if you are anywhere near one you cannot hold a converstation at all and the noise actually hurts! even sitting idling away they are stupidly loud. at least a nice RB sounds good. these are just nasty noise. bikes are also insane. and what pisses me off the most is all the little pizza hut delivery guys on their scooters. I swear they modify the exhaust to make them sound crappier and louder and they feel the need to rev the crap out of them at any and every opportunity. really pisses me off. it's awesome just as you are falling asleep at midnight some wanker on his pizza hut scooter comes stops at the lights and starts revving the thing to 23,000rpm. I don't know why they are out so much, surely no one in the city actually wants to eat pizza hut anyway with so many great places to choose from? I think the city branches must just be a front for some kind of drug courier operation...
  10. even if they do the price cut is only on regular afaik. and I can't believe people are willing to line up for 2 hours just to save $20 or so. they are effectively earning $10 an hour for sitting in their car. not a good return if you ask me. I'd rather go up the road and fill up in 5 minutes, spend and extra $20 and spend my time doing something else. i guess it's a moot point for us anyway since we all need 98RON fuel for most of our cars.
  11. the reason I'll be switching because it's about the same money as replacing the centre bearing. far better to have a one peice shaft which is lighter than stock and never have to mess with the centre bearing again. and sure some small weight saving is good (even if not immediately noticed by the driver). but I don't think it 12kg-9kg would be felt. but checking other sources people say the 32 GTR shaft weighs 14kg, so 5kg saving could be a different story. don't get me wrong, the carbon shaft is still the awesome. and I do half wish I'd bought one! and they really were a steal at the prices you guys paid. especially for the light 1000 ones. that would have been the pick for me, cheapest and lightest. though Mick has good point about torque multiplication which you'd have to consider for the guys with serious power.
  12. you are 100% correct. anyway mate, if you need anything from ebay AU I can help out! lol just pay me in yen! hey,we have had it good for a long time. for over 4 years I've been travelling to japan twice a year and spending up big every time. I don't think on any of those trips the dollar bought less than 85 yen and for probably half of them it was up over 95 yen. Plus I've bought plenty of bits and cars and sent so much $ to japan to hold as yen it's not funny. We are going to take some pain for a while there is no doubt about it and it can get a bit depressing but hopefully things will come back at least above 85 again. think of all the poor exporters who have just had years of not benig able to sell bugger all. they will be booming now as all their products just got nearly 40% cheaper for their japanese and US customers.
  13. well that's kind of an individual choice! but personally yeah I think it's ok. providing you get the car checked on the dyno when you remove it. check the AFR, knock, and boost level. providing the boost is not going past 14psi and the AFR is ok and there is no knock then go for it. enjoy some free power. just be aware that any 32 with standard turbos is a bit of hit and miss. some will blow a turbo even at standard boost. some will live for years and years on 15psi with no problems. so if we are talking R32 (or even R33 really) then do it at your own risk!
  14. the BBS are good, but they don't have the most caliper clearance out there. make sure they will fit over big brakes if you are running APs with 355mm rotors. I have BBS LMs as road wheels on my grey 32 and they only just clear R34 brembos I have on there. for track I use Weds TC-05s or my Enkei NT03s. both forged, light and good brake clearance.
  15. yes the boost restrictor is marked on the line. I have owned quite a few GTRs now. 32, 33 and 34 and have had a standard 32, standard 33 and standard 34. I would agree they do have more than 206kw at the engine standard, but I don't think it's 240 or 260, I would say around 210-220 for 32s about 220 for 33s and about 230-235 for 34s. but what they really did was add a couple of basic resitrctions to bring the cars fown to the 206kw limit. so with a free flowing exhaust and 4 pounds more boost you get great gains. an extra 30-40kws just with those mods.
  16. yep massa and kimi on new engines. lewey the fly on 1 race old engine... the only hard bit is we not only need lewey taken out we need massa to finish 1st or 2nd too... surely the collective hatred of everyone on the grid can combine in one giant conspiracy to thwart leweys efforts and hand a win to massa.
  17. Spec R offers better (finer, faster) control. since it's a dual solenoid set-up it effectively has twice the crossectional area but reacts in the same amount of time as a smaller single. it can give faster spoolup to any boost level. any ebc will hold the solenoid closed until the turbo is near reaching the target boost, it then needs to react quickly opening the valve and bypassing enough air to control the boost at whatever the set amount is. now since most boost controllers need time to react and pass enough air they have to start opening before the target boost. with dual solenoid the point at which they start opening can be set closer to the target boost setting without any spiking. so really the main advantage is faster spool up/boost build to whatever your target boost level is.
  18. yep, looks like I'm going to pull the pin on november. I have free flight using points on either qantas or JAL but that doesn't mean much if everything else is 40% more expensive. really pissed as nismo festival is my favourite thing to do car wise in japan. makes tokyo autosalon seem a bit lame. I will be still going in jan but might cut that trip shorter too. in fact I may still go in november but just do 1 week instead of the usual 2-3... bummer.
  19. given the aussie dollar is currently about on par with the peso it may be worth sourcing something local? I know john at UAS sells tailshafts for GTRs etc and they are quite resonably priced and give a good weight saving too. and since i'm pretty sure they are made in aus you wont get hammered on the currencey exchange. right now is about the worst time in the last 5 years to be buying stuff from US or japan. weighs 9kg costs apprrox $500 exchange. he may be able to do better for a group buy? he can do chromoly too for a couple hundred more.
  20. good news. from what andrew said sounds like maybe yours are just an upadted designe hence the reason they look different. no doubt the trust shaft pic was take at least 5 years ago so I'm sure a lot has changed since then. and justin got his at least a year or two back. i reckon the 2000ft/lb guys probably wont be able to notice any difference but the lighter 1000ft/lb ones will. for the guys that missed out on this buy but want a lighter 1 piece shaft UAS sell lightweight shafts for 32 and 33 GTR for $500 exchange. they weigh 9kg same as the 2000ft/lb carbon ones. not as nice as the 7kg carbon ones but a bit lighter than the super strength ones. he does chromoly too for $250 more. a good option now the AUD has gone to sh1t and the US ones will be heaps more for anyone looking to buy now. you guys really did get in at the right time I present to you the poor mans carbon shaft! not as pretty but still 9kg and cost $500. I think I'll get one for the 32. they are mainly a good option as you get rid of the centre bearing which wear out and cost a shedload to replace.
  21. cool pic. car looks hawt too mate. the worst thing about all the big cars around is when you are driving behind them. now normally you can see hundreds of meters ahead. so when driving along at 60 you see a red light 150meters away you know you'll need to brake soon and can anticipate the stop well in advance. if stuck behind a land yacht all you can see is their baby on board sign and scegs redlands bumper sticker until they slam on the brakes at the last minute. now you will be able to stop 999 times out of 1000 but sometimes the bloke behind you wont have brakes so good and will end up nailing the back of your nice car. that's my main grip with them. that they block your forward visibility. it's especially bad in the RX7 since your bum is about 2 inches off the road.
  22. mate, digging up 6 month old threads just to post a 'funny' call is not cool. the thread is no doubt by now irrelevant and others posting after you just look silly for not realising it.
  23. yes tyres have to be DOT (US department of transport) or E marked. if not they should have been replaced at compliance. most japan market tyres have either DOT or E marks but not all. I'm not sure on the BPY but the rest is the date. feb 06. the DOT approval will start with DOT then some numbers E mark is an E or e then a number in a circle.
  24. give them 3 minutes per side on the bbq just like a good steak. in fact do a steak at the same time too for me cause I get a bit hungry. then you're good to go.
  25. great video. I remember when they were filming this. a few friends of mine have their cars in the japan scenes which is pretty cool, and Gio who owns the blue 34 GTR with TE37s is an ex-pat Aussie living and working in Japan. I think his claim of 730hp is probably a bit modest too, his car is an absolute animal! Anyway Nat Geo did a really, really good job. some great footage.
