  1. dave raves about the PF pads an I know he uses brakes hard enough to know what he's talking about. give them a crack, I reckon you will like em roy.
  2. the best place in sydney to get the springs measured and the shocks tested is bilstein/heasmans in tempe. they are excellent. http://www.bilstein.com.au/' http://www.heasmans.com.au/bilstein/contact/index.html as for how much it costs, give them a call. and just from looking at them they are pretty heavy springs, up around 10kg/mm or more I'd say.
  3. hey this will be a bonus for them. all the JDM parts fans will panic and start buying up big in trust parts fearing that some parts will go out of production and trust will go under, this will give a good cash boost for trust and set them back on the path to sucess. I know I stockpiled certain apexi parts back when they had financial problems fearing they might go the way of the tassie devil...
  4. live view is not needed on a DSLR for 99% of photography. I used to think it was. when I went from a compact to a DSLR about 2 or 3 years ago I really missed live view and was pissed that I didn't have it. then after about a year with the DSLR I got a hold of one that did have live view for a while. and I hated it. live view is rubbish. it's only useful maybe to initially frame shots on a tripod on weird angles, or macro shooting etc but apart from that it's pretty useless. on a DSLR you need to be using the viewfinder. and the funny thing is now when I use one of our compacts I find I want to use the view finder too. you get much better pics. liveview is good for your camera phone, that's about it. so definitely don't buy a DSLR because it has live view, there are so many more important aspects than that. and my preference is always with the canon cameras. they make lovely DSLR in all price ranges.
  5. Hi mate, current status, still for sale. I'm really keen to shift it. Paying the RX-7 rego today So, I'm dropping $1,500 off the price for the next few days. If this car interests you, give me a call and come check it out and make me an offer. You never know your luck in the big city! I still have the brand new set of zenon's too in their boxes and could be persuaded to chuck them in fairly cheaply.
  6. yep, I do love a good wankel. it's actually pretty rapid now too. and a good 200 or more kg lighter than my GTR.
  7. thanks mate. anyone know where abouts carlton is? (edit: found it, hurstville).
  8. roger that. I will see how they turn out. the east bear seat in my silvia is fked and I don't want this to happen to the recaros in the 7 (new covers for them are $900 for some reason, even though normal recaro covers are about $200). my cobra has nice little patches or leather or something in the high wear areas and that's what I want for the 7. if you have a regular, recaro/velo/cobra or whatever it's probably worth buying a new genuine cover. the only reason I can't for the 7 is that those seats were specially made for mazda so recaro wont retail covers for them, you have to buy from mazda. but normal recaro fixed seat covers are quite affordable.
  9. no it's true, I'm serious, I really was taking a cr4p when it happend. so yes, not taking the piss, taking a cr4p. glad to be able to clear that one up...
  10. will nobody sign this poor blokes petition? c'mon. have a heart.
  11. well come have a drive next time you are in sydney. I know you are bit taller than me (i'm 6'2") but you may be ok. since it doesn't ahve rear seats too the front seats can slid a looong way back. I went for a decent blast before and I have to say it feels pretty fast. surprisingly torquey down low too.
  12. thanks guys, both good reccomendations. I know hotham pde well so at least it's easy for me to find.
  13. yeah, to be honest I think I could only fit in the RZ as it has the recaros. they are fixed back and mounted very close to the floor, and they have special rails that allow the seat to pivot up or down on the rear mount too. with stock FD seats I'd not be so comfortable. sunroof would be a killer too. but I don't really suffer for head room, it's just the cabin space around the legs. actually if I swapped the wheel for a smaller one with a 60mm spacer (to bring it closer and give more knee clearance) or so this car would feel perfect.
  14. I think I should sign. That gentleman makes a fine point. he's quite the handsome devil too...
  15. lolies. http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/sig...gi?belg08&1
  16. I prefer this one: http://www.petitiononline.com/belg08/petition.html it only has one signature, but check out who it is...
  17. you are one of a kind steve-o.... nice way to bogart the purchase there.
  18. don't get me wrong, I'm keen to see you guys try some new things and different ideas, just I think this particular one may not have enough positives to outweigh the negatives, but there is only one real way to find that out and you're doing it.
  19. naprec valves are good and cheap. I don't know who sells them in aus, I bought mine in japan, but I'm sure you can get them here too.
  20. not a real fan of the water to air idea. it will weigh a lot more than a normal air/air setup. air/air you have a nice light alloy core (like ARC ones are even lighter than a stock intercooler!) and a bit more piping. now you have a more complex and heavier water/air core, plus a pump, plus piping for the water, plus another heat exchanger for the rad. so you have swapped 1 heat exchanger for 2 of them. so the ambient air now cools water which then cools your intake charge. as opposed to the old set-up which just had the ambient air cooling the intake charge. The only benefit is you may be able to have a shorter intake tract. but in a GTR you can get it pretty short anyway with a conventional air/air cooler. and it's far simpler.
  21. cheers guys, yeah I love it. The RZ version is a little special too, just 175 RZs' made it's the rarest FD RX-7 you can get. It comes with carbon kevlar recaros, BBS wheels, Bilstein shocks, updated interior, no rear seats, alloy foot panels, alloy bonnet etc. It's the lightest FD variant too. Yep, brand new housings, they advised it was the best way to go and I didn't want to do it by halves. They did an awesome job with the build and kindly took lots of pics. I love the rotors but they just don't last. This car is a 2001 model with very few kms and no mods apart from the exhaust when I bought it, but it was already due for a freshen up! I don't have any nice pics really, but here are some I took on the day it arrived in aus. very dirty!
  22. I am currently running in my 13BT as well. in an FD though (2001 RZ model). you can see some pics of the build here if you're interested. I had it built at Pre-stage in japan, small but excellent japanese rotary tuner. http://photos.yahoo.co.jp/ph/cyoko810/lst?...rc=ph%26.view=t http://www.prestage.rgr.jp/workscar.html PS, I do believe anyone within a 3 block radius of my place is now slightly hearing impaired...
  23. no, legally you can't do that. I saw a manual SR20 180SX for $8500. you could probably negotiate a bit on that, and you get to see the car and test drive a car. now, importing a car. obviosuly you can't see or drive it. and even if you buy the shittest car for say $2000 bucks it will cost more than $7000 here. $2000 car cost in japan (and it will be a really piece of shit for that money) 140,000 JPY FOB (this is about standard) $1100 if you are using an importer like prestige etc ~$2,000 in shipping and taxes $242 cleaning for AQIS Now since you actually have to comply it, that is another at least $2500. It woul be on the road for about $10,000 or just over. and it would still be at the lower end of S13s quality wise. cheap cars are never worth importing. I woul never import a car that is worth less than $20K in Aus. and I speak from experience having imported a couple of cheap cars over the years, they were never worth it, as there are so many associated costs with importing it is only worth it for cars above a certain value and in my mind that is $20K.
  24. Hi guys, I'm in need of some help. I have a small job for an auto trimmer. I have 2 race seats and I want small suede patches attached to the high wear areas (just like many newer race seats like my cobra evolution now come with standard). On the surface it doesn't seem hard, but I imagine it will actually be a little tricky as the race seat cover fabric is usually quite weak meaning it's not easy to stitch stuff to it, usually means some kind of stick on patch, or put stronger fabric underneath and stitch through the lot. These are very nice seats. Carbon Kevlar recaro's so the job must be done nicely. Anyway, please reccomend anywhere you know of, or even better somewhere you've had work done. I live in inner city sydeny so somewhere close to their would be ideal. thanks.
